I tried to search this, but could't find anything, but my wording could have been off... But what I wanted to know was, do we know what would happen if a Shardblade was used against the Lifeless? Would it react in the normal Shardblade way, or would it actually cut them?

Question for Brandon (this weekend)
b4dave replied to Asha'man Logain's topic in Events and Signings
If you're going, would you mind asking a couple of questions for me? I'm in Canada and don't have the opportunity to ask for myself... 1. Is entering a Shardpool of a Splintered Shard different from entering the Shardpool of a non-Splintered Shard? 2. Can Shardpools function in the same way as an Oathgate, transporting someone where they wish to go? 3. Are Shardpools a gateway between the Cognitive Realm and the Physical Realm? Ima go ahead and say thanks on the off chance you might happen to actually ask one of these -
It doesn't really reference a time when there was one Bondsmith, it states that one existed in Urithiru at all times, meaning that the other two were out in the world.

I noticed today a small difference in the maps of WoK and WoR…in WoK the mountain range that borders Shinovar to the east has no name, but in WoR, they are labeled as The Misted Mountains… WoB was that it was a small something, not really a big deal, and not earth shattering, but that in each book the maps will be slightly different…perhaps more locations will be labeled on each map or something like that...

Once I found out that the Stormfather was a Splinter of Honor, this is what I immediately thought when I remembered that quote.

Two questions- one about Jasnah, one about the Oathpact.
b4dave replied to Zerovirus's topic in Stormlight Archive
Ash would be Shalash, recent WoB confirmed Ash as he nickname. *I* believe that this scene is meant to indicate that breaking the Oathpact has had an adverse effect on the Heralds -
So basically you want him to be like Robert Jordan, not skip a thing, and have huge unnecessary books put into the series, slowing it down, rather than just covering what happens during that gap in the flashbacks of the later books? I will state here that I am not ripping on Robert Jordan, but I felt in his later books (winters heart and beyond) that a lot could have been left offscreen and brought up later in conversations or something...
-
I also think I remember somewhere on here that a recent WoB was that the north the Alethi indicate on their maps may not be the true north…and since these are in world Alethi maps, I can see this as being accurate...

I thought much the same thing...

I don't think that the First Ideal is one that is spoken, but one that is lived. In TWoK, Kaladin chose to live rather than to give himself over to death. From there he found in himself the strength to go on, rather than give over to weakness, both of which signify, to me, that he is willing to take the journey of life, over the destination of death. From here the Ideals would become more specific for each of the orders, but I think all of them have to reach a point of despair, and choose to live in order for the spren to fully be able to bond with a potential KR. So I don't think its artificial, I think its built into the Ideals to ensure that they have to see the worst that life has to offer, and still want to protect it.

I dunno…I just remember reading that they went away to forge Nightblood…it just makes me wonder where they could have possibly gone. Doesn't hurt to ask, and I've been surprised by his answers before...
-
Could you please ask if Nightblood was forged on Nalthis, or on a different Shardworld?
-
I think it also might have something to do with the fact that Honorblades are meant to be held by the Heralds and should not be in the hands of Normal Men.

What about that scene where I'm pretty sure that he explained to Shallan how to puzzle it out.
-
I can't remember this specific passage, but do we know what context it was in? Was it viewed by someone native to Roshar, or from the vantage point of someone possibly from off world? When I read the above quote, my mind went immediately to the Tears of Edgli…I'm probably wrong though, I'll have to go back and see if I can find it.

Adolin Kholin, the uncut gem (WoR spoilers, right?)
b4dave replied to banestar's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think perhaps if Adolin is reawakening the spren in his sword, then it is also having an influence on Adolin. Remember the Nahel bond means that sharing goes both ways, perhaps the spren in his sword belonged to either the Willshapers or the Skybreakers and is unconsciously moulding him into what he needs to be. -
So far we have seen every second letter starting from the first, and every second letter starting from the second…..has anyone tried every second letter starting from the third?

So if Nightblood is a Shardblade endowed with the power of a Splinter, does this mean that a Shardblade can be created with the power of Aons?
-
So a thought occurred to me last night while laying in bed. It seems that whenever Pattern is talking about Shallan using lies, he usually does it when he wants her to Surgebind using Illumination. While I don't think he wants Shallan to actually lie, I think he see's it that way since an illusion is not truth and he doesn't have the right words to say what he wants...

I wonder if Hoid's spiritweb allows him to have all of the powers he has since he existed before adonalsium was shattered... Seems likely and the best answer that I can find of why he's able to use them all...
