Well in WB the magic system is breath. Commands are voice activated, your voice has different wave lengths and pulses based on the tone of your voice and how fast you speak. Only specific commands can be used to create an Awakened object, much like specific metals, and Aons themselves are extremely precise as well. In Roshar, we have Stormlight, which is light, and there are different wavelengths and pulses for that as well. This theory makes a lot of sense.

Trees are still alive, they grow, go through hibernation cycles, they can die. A cup, no that would not have a cognitive aspect, it doesnt grow, change, or die, but who is to say in the Cosmere that tree's don't think, it may be something as simple as "food". There is scientific studies going on now that test reactions of pain and fear in plants, so based on that I can see the merit in this.

What if she's got the powers of the Knights Radiant, as well as another magic belonging to Cultivation. I noticed that quote as well and drew the same conclusion, so your not completely out there.

Gavilar killed so Dalinar would succeed?

I have thought, since finding out that Honor was Splintered, that the Broken One refered to him... -
I think it was a tongue in cheek joke based on the fact that a character from each universe are fighting each other. I mean...it makes sense in a twisted kind of way....how else would Kelsier get to the WoT world if NOT for Shadesmar

What if the element is Szeth's oathstone. I have this feeling that it has something to do with Honor since Szeth seems fanatically honour-bound to do whoever hold's its bidding. I don't think its too ludicrous to think that Hoid could have given Szeth the oathstone to protect it from those who were following him. The last physical remnants of the Shard Honor, much like the beads of atrium and lerasium were the physical manifestations of Ruin and Preservation, given to someone it wouldn't be fun to mess with...

The Emperor's Soul *Elantris Spoilers*
b4dave replied to Windrunner's topic in Elantris and Emperor's Soul
I think it could be a combination of both. Just because we have seen two Shards with their own magic systems interact to create a third, doesn't mean that they aren't capable of creating more. i think of it as the 2 Shards are the parents and the subsequent magic systems are like children, and the two can create more than one magical system. Unless you are identical twins, no two children are the same, and even in the case of identical twins there are minute differences, and so it would be with the "hybrid" magic systems. My main point with this is who is to say that more than one magic system can't be created from the two? -
maybe the Spren that was stolen is trapped in his Oathstone...which he seems pretty bound to obey who holds it

I think I didn't focus on my point, what I was trying to say is that spiking is the way to steal powers via hemalurgy on Scadrial, but what if its not the same for every planet/shard? All we know for sure is that it steals part of the spirit web, but unless I'm missing something, I don't think Ive seen it anywhere that spiking is always necessary for Hemalurgy, just that its how its done on Scadrial. Since each of the Shards are different, maybe the way to steal their powers is as well. Hemalurgy with Ruin - it ruins the body, aligning with his shard, uses metal as that it what fuels the metalic arts, and steals the metallic arts. Hemalurgy with Endowment - the person giving up their breath is endowing it on someone else, there by giving up a portion of their spiritual DNA. Hemalurgy with Dominion - I am not sure it would work here, I'll admit that, but it would probably have something to do with having Dominion over your body and allowing your sDNA to be altered with Aons, as well as showing that Dominion has its hold on you.

I have been wondering, since reading that the art of Hemalurgy has drastic ramifications through out the Cosmere, if we haven't seen it in more places than Mistborn. If Hemalurgy takes a portion of someones spirit web and puts in into anothers body, but we don't know much about it beyond that. We don't know 100% percent for sure that what passes for Hemalurgy in Mistborn is the same through out the cosmere. It seems like a couple of Shards have similar hemalurgic effects, if not by the same means. Elantris - the dakhor(not sure if thats right, dont have my book with me)- they forcibly draw aons onto the bones of those who will join their number. We arent sure of the process, and it may be a stretch, but it seems somewhat hemalurgic to me. Warbreaker - Endowment - the giving of Breath. A part of the persons spiritweb is transfered to another, leaving them a Drab. Now, what if the process of transfering one's spiritweb is also different on Roshar? What if Szeth has gained his windrunner powers through a hemalurgic process, having has someones elses spiritual DNA transfered to him. Is it completely far fetched? Is it crazy?

Szeth is a Surgebinder, there is nothing stating that a Surgebinder HAS to be a Radiant...

I always thought Jezrien was pronouced "Yezrien", as Jaznah is prounounced "Yaznah" according to BS.

The symbol for Austre is probably a colour wheel, lol

I noticed during my reread that one of the epigraphs seems to mention Shinovar, at least in my opinion. Its the epigraph for chapter 8. "Victory! We stand atop the mount! We scatter them before us! Their homes become our dens, their lands are now our farms! And they shall burn, as we once did, in a place that is hollow and forlorn." The only place I can actually see farms happening is in Shinovar, where they have soil for cultivation. The last line "they shall burn, as we once did" seems to point towards the Heralds.

anyone else think that the metallic symbils in the mistborn 2 art listed bove kinda resemble Aons?
-
I dont think Nohadon created the Knights Radiant, I think he created a book that listed the ideals that the KR should strive to, much as the Bible was written after the death of Christ to lead and guide humanity. I feel very strongly that the Prologue took place far before the Way of Kings was written, and that the KR were named as such then, but with the breaking of the Oathpact and the departing of the Heralds, they lost their way, Nohadon was just the one to see a path which they should follow and wrote something to set them on it.
-
I like the idea of "honorspren" as a generic term...I think "honorspren" are attracted to the ideals listed in the Ars Arcanum, after all, all of those attributes can be considered honorable, thus they can be blanket defined.
-
I like the last part, seriously makes me think of Shinovar, and puts another spin on the Truthless.
-
I believe that Brandon has said that becoming a full allomancer is a side effect of burning lerasium on someone who isn't already an allmomancer...he hasnt said what would happen if someone already an allomancer burned Lerasium....I just cant remember where I saw it....
-
I have a theory that the Shardblades are Splinters, ones that Honor conciously made before he died to give humanity a fighting chance against Odium after he died.
-
I change my idea that it was the oaths...what if the focus is the attributes listed in the Ars Arcanum for each of the essences? Shallan would therefore have the focus of creativity and truth (don't have my book with me at the moment so I may edit this when I get home) and Kaladin would be protection?
-
I think this is where Hemalurgy would come into play. Im not sure where, but I am pretty sure that I read that one's spiritweb is specific to the world that they were born to. So a Scadrialite could not use the magic of Nalthis unless he had part of Nalthisian spiritweb "grafted" through Hemalurgy to their own.
-
I forgot to type that bit on Commands being the focus for Nalthis, and I 100% agree, my point though was that more breaths increases the effectiveness of the Command, much like saying all 5 Oaths increases the amount of Stormlight being used. I think the Oaths COULD be a cognitive focus.
-
Not sure if this has been said, but I think that the focus on Roshar is the Oaths. On Scadrial, you get more power by having more metal, on Nalthis you get more power by having more breath. On Roshar it becomes apparently that you get more power with the more oaths you speak aloud.

The Stoneward woman had gems in her Plate. I don't think that having gems in the plate makes them fancy farials though. Gems are used to hold Stormlight, it seems to me like they would have gems associated with their order on them to store Stormlight, much like Vin carried around vials of metal in Mistborn. I could be decorative storage for when they need a bit of power.
