  1. Yeah, but Windrunner oaths aren’t solely dependent on successful protecting others. Kaladin had a decent chance of fixing his bond just by choosing to try and save Elohkar even if it was too late. if he did, then things move forward pretty much the same, except Dalinar would have wound up king for OB.
  2. My favorite was definitely “Facing a Shardbearer without Shards was not a wise proposition. Unless you were a storm-faced bridgeman, of course.” Shallan had to mention Kaladin XD
  3. The art of War by Sun Tzu.
  4. I'm not going to keep arguing, but I'll just say: Adolin should be punished for killing Sadeas. He deserved and Roshar is better without him, but Adolin should not get let off the hook for murder. People have mentioned Kaladin being involved in the plot to kill Elokhar and Shallan killing Ialai as examples of other characters who have avoided trouble. I'll say that they probably should also be held accountable for their actions. In short, there's a lot of people who have gotten away with things they shouldn't. In a just world, they would be punished. Roshar is not a perfect world, and I'm not saying that that's what's going to happen, but their actions weren't justified. Side note: I still feel that Kaladin isn't as bad as Adolin in this case. Attempted murder is very different than actual murder, and Kaladin would be guilty of aiding and abetting, which is a lesser crime than attempted murder. But that's just my thoughts. feel free to disagree.
  5. "It's definitely the gamemakers messing with us. Unless we got super unlucky, deepwalkers wouldn't find us with Fawn around. But they just gave us a boat, so they probably don't want to kill us yet" hopefully...
  6. Fantasy worlds aren’t earth. But I feel like the morals of murder would be the same, regardless of location. Kaladin does have this discussion. It’s less of a difference between the Parshendi and Amaram as it is that there were people in need of protection at the tower while there was nobody for Kaladin to protect angainst Amaram at the time (until OB, when he did get to fight him). Killing Hitler would have been great. However, Hitler was at war with most of the world. He started and continued a war that killed millions of innocences. Sadeas, while indirectly responsible for the deaths of his soldiers and bridgemen, had not caused any deaths that could be pinned on him. (I realize I sound like I’m supporting Sadeas, and just want to quickly clarify that I’m not. He deserved death, just not by getting stabbed in a corridor in a fit of anger.) Kaladin and Dalinar couldn’t directly retaliate without stating a war (another thing that wasn’t an issue with Hitler). And part of the problem with Adolins way is that now the skeptics have evidence to use against Dalinar, who shouldn’t have hidden Adolins actions, but he was going through a lot. “You want us to be united, but you supported your son’s murder of the biggest threat to your authority.” For Kaladin, I’ll just say: there’s a difference between thinking or even saying something and actually doing it. He had a complex moral issue, and he eventually chose to protect Elohkar before he died. He should have acted sooner, and he did get lucky with the timing. Maybe he does deserve some punishment, but the way things ended up, I think he should get off pretty light. True. At that point, “it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government.” Violence would have been nessecary to overthrow Sadeas, and it would have caused a war. The Kholins were trying to undermine Sadeas legally and force him against Adolin in a duel without destroying Alethkar. But realistically, they needed a better system of government, not an assassination.
  7. Society doesn’t work if everyone can kill others to “improve the world”
  8. It’s not going to happen in the next eight days, cuz everyone’s busy, but they have created the Rosharian version of UN. They could have a trial. Or Jasnah would probably be a pretty fair judge. Nothing against Maya, but one spren should not be the sole arbiter of someone’s actions. They aren’t infallible. We also don’t know if she supported Sadeas’s death. She didn’t really become aware until OB.
  9. Did Sadeas deserve to die? Absolutely But Adolin shouldn't have killed him the way he did. Kaladin's entire arc in WoR was about how you can't just kill someone for being a bad person. Kaladin almost goes and kills Amaram, but stops because he realizes it isn't his place to assassinate him. You can accuse them legally and let justice take care of them. Now admittedly, that didn't work for Kaladin and wouldn't have worked for Adolin (unless he actually waited the one year for his duel) because the Alethi justice system was flawed to say the least. But if anyone is allowed to kill someone because the world would be better without them... I'm not saying that Adolin is about to turn Moash, and he had very good reasons and was provoked into attacking Sadeas, but he should still be held accountable.
  10. Are you one of those American rebels? That’s rough buddy.
  11. The stormfather "reigns" all right. the death rattles are spoken, so maybe it was "the broken one rains" XD
  12. Seems to me like Honor could be the broken one. He was splintered, but is still the main God on Roshar even though he died. Odium is stuck on braize and cultivation has avoided attention. Also, "Honor is not dead so long as he lives in the hearts of men." currently, humans rule Roshar.
  13. Winter climbs on the boat, Fawn landing on his shoulder. “Well, we’re probably safer away from the other tributes on the island. We should go.”
  14. “I do, but you’re never truly safe from the dangers of nature. The Gamemakers are sure to make things exciting regardless of the precautions we take.”
  15. Winter looks at the boat admiringly. It was far superior to anything he has had growing up. It might be a bit obvious, but it could get them access to distant islands that didn’t have tributes on them. Maybe his long term survival strategy was going to pay off after all. “This will be useful…”
  16. Seniority = superiority which means Eddie was better than either of us.
  17. The other Spirit laments Eddies passing but understands the pressures of school.
  18. Winter watches as Sharlin recklessly jumps in the water and enters the cave. One of these times she’s going to run into something dangerous and die. “Are you ok?” he calls after her.
  19. "I can swim, but I don't trust these waters. The game makers aren't about to make this easy"
