Some spoilers are mentioned there, just in case anyone hasn't actually read the Mistborn Trilogy.

My take on this? It's just a sheath. Nothing more. It is the nature of a sheath to contain the destructive abilities of a sword, and it is the nature of a sword to be incapable of destroying when sheathed. Nightblood, being a sword, "knows" this - this is how the world works, and there is no way around it. A sword may have a hard time defining evil, but it knows what a sheath is and what a sheath does. As such, Nightblood tones itself down when sheathed. Now, it's been a little while since I've read the book, so if there's a point where Nightblood kills while completely sheathed, this theory goes right out the window. (Though I do remember reading somewhere that the sheath was just as deadly as the sword, even though it didn't have its own intelligence. Perhaps "Nightblood" is the sword and the sheath, not just the sword, yet still recognizing the intent and nature of a sheath? /shrug )

I haven't read the annotations, so I'm not sure if these questions were answered there or not. (Feel free to throw one at me, if they have been.) 1. A Returned will only live for a week, unless said Returned is given a Breath. This is an important part of life in Hallandren. I assume that their "biology" is set to consume a non-Divine Breath if one is available, and their Divine Breath if no other Breath is available. 1a. Is a breath slowly consumed over the course of a week? Or is it consumed all at once, granting a Returned's body one more week of animation? If the former, and a Returned is consuming its DB, will the DB regenerate if a non-DB is given to it? If the latter, what happens near the end of the week if a non-DB is given? Do they stop being Returned, since the DB was consumed, or does the DB "magically" return to the Returned? 1b. (This actually bothered me as I was reading the story.) What's the population of Hallandren? I mean, this Breath-consuming religion of theirs has been around for how long? And they've had how many Returned? With each one living for how long? Yeah, that's a lot of Breaths that have been sacrificed for their gods. I'm surprised they haven't run out. 2. I may be mis-remembering this, but didn't Vasher say he had existed without Breaths before? How is this possible? He's a Returned, right? (And didn't Denth say something similar?)

I've never understood kicking someone from a list due to inactivity. If the person isn't active, then you're not being bothered by anything they (don't) do. I'm more likely to drop someone for constant annoyance than inactivity.

Really? It said "Page Note Found", not "Page Not Found"? That's weird. I don't recall any specifics, but something's sticking out in the back of my mind. I can't recall if I was posting on the forums or on the wiki, but I did the "Hit F5, confirm resubmission" thing and my post went through fine afterwards. I'll keep my eyes peeled for anything like this in the future. If I see something like that happen again, I'll make a note of it in this thread for you.

Is there a coffer anywhere that we might be able to loss a few pennies in, for hardware upgrades?

Yeah, I've been there for about 10 years or so, too. One of my friends told me about it way back when, and I've been lurking since. (I'm not the ELL, of course. ) The closest I've ever come to adding content to it was prereading for Vincent Seifert, who wrote a lot of Ranma fanfics. (You can see my pseudonym mentioned in the "Notes and Acknowledgements" link, if you don't believe me. ) I still have a lot of stuff backlogged in my FFML folder that I haven't read yet, but I imagine I'll get around to them eventually. (I'd even like to start "Children of an Elder God", but hoo!, that's a long one.)

Chaos, I've seen you mention the quality of the server in the past. Do you think the site will be moving to a new server at any point in the near future? (I was getting some 502s and 504s last night while trying to do some article editing.) If we consistently have more traffic, that might be a heavier burden to the hardware.

How is the first one a paradox? It sounds to me closer to a self-fulfilling prophecy than a paradox.

Nah, Gmail is out of beta. Though, someone put something together in Labs that lets you add the "BETA" tag back to the image, for nostalgia. If anyone needs G+ invites, I think I have a few.

I didn't even know there was a Google doc. All I knew about was the wiki one, which was why I haven't finished reading though it yet.
