  1. Speech I'm working on for a short novel

“Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished faculty members, esteemed guests, and the newest wave of brilliant minds joining The University of the North Atlantic and Pacific Ocean. I am Eline Acker, a student from Rotterdam which is located in the European nation of The Netherlands. I extend a warm welcome to each and every one of you. Congratulations on your exceptional achievements that have led you to this momentous occasion.

However, let us be clear from the outset - the journey you are about to embark upon is not for the faint-hearted. This university is a crucible that will test your limits, challenge your intellect, and push you to the edge of your capabilities. The pursuit of knowledge here is a cut-throat battle, where only those willing to do whatever it takes to be number one will emerge victorious.

Allow me to share a sobering statistic from last year's entrance ceremony. Of the 861 students who stood here before you, eagerly awaiting the start of their academic journey, a staggering 63.5% were expelled by winter break. This harsh reality should resonate within you, as it is imperative to grasp the gravity of your situation.

In this universe, sacrifice becomes the norm. Sleep, social engagements, and even sanity may need to be forsaken in the pursuit of excellence. The distractions and temptations surrounding you will be abundant, but it is essential to stay focused, prioritize your studies, and keep your eye on the prize. Do not let momentary pleasures hinder your path to success.

Furthermore, I must emphasize the importance of forming study groups and cultivating friendships within this competitive environment. Special exams that require teams of 10 to 15 students will challenge not only your knowledge but also your ability to work as a cohesive unit. Seek out like-minded individuals who share your passion for excellence and invest in these team exams. Surround yourself with individuals who

challenge your ideas, inspire you, and complement your strengths and weaknesses. Together, you will navigate the intricacies of these specialized exams and emerge victorious.

In this pursuit, I draw your attention to the government-sponsored smart phone provided to each of you, a powerful tool for communication and collaboration. Use it wisely to foster knowledge sharing, coordination, and mutual support. However, remember that caution is necessary in this competitive landscape. While alliances can be fruitful, not everyone may have your best interests at heart. Maintain a sense of healthy skepticism and strategic thinking, safeguard your intellectual assets, and assess the motives and capabilities of those around you.

So, my fellow scholars, embrace the power of teamwork, utilize the government-sponsored phone, but exercise caution. View each other as potential resources, invaluable connections, and temporary allies on your individual journeys to greatness. This university demands resilience, determination, and unwavering dedication. Rise above the challenges, seize the opportunities, and leave an indelible mark on the universe of knowledge.

Welcome to The University of the North Atlantic and Pacific Ocean, where brilliance thrives amidst calculated alliances. May your journey be filled with growth, discovery, and unwavering success.”*-Eline Acker*
