    She smiled back. “But what will we be doing?”

    He sighed. “You’re right. I can’t talk move with you like this though,” he said, looking at her on his lap.

    “I think that’s a great idea.” He didn’t move. “I kind of want to stay here though…”

    “How do I know I will not be…changed like Tayen?” she asked, seeming to grow more in control of herself.

    “I think observing him would be best, no need for anything else right now.”

    “He’s…I don’t know why that happened,” she lied.

    Helda tried to slap him. “You did this on purpose! You pushed him further than he could go!”

    “You’re the one that is supposed to do the testing, did you have nothing planned other than destroying his soul?”

    Midnight spores, way more fun. WYR be radiant but have no Stormlight or Elantrian but have no connection to the Dor?

    That’s really cool, the same thing happened with my siblings two years ago.

    “Fine.” She said through gritted teeth. “I’ll help you. But only to find a way to help him.”

    “I swear I will find a way to bring you back,” she whispered to Tayen. She turned to the man. “What will you do with him?”

    She began tearing at her soul, rearranging it. But then, she stopped. Tayen wouldn’t want this. There had to be another way. She entered her body again and slumped to the floor, feeling defeated.

    She left her body, entering limbo. If she changed her soul enough, back to her old self, she’d be found, and this man would die.

    “It isn’t a choice. Fix him or die.”

    “You’ll learn. You’ll learn or you’ll die. You won’t turn my Tayen into a servant.”

    “There must be a way!”

    “I said to help him. You won’t be studying him, you will bring him back and let us go.”

    She slowly exited the body, back to her own. She stood, trembling. “Help him. Fix his mind, his soul.”
