  1. When I met Brandon in Spokane a few years ago with Chaos, we asked him about Endowment's Shardpool. Brandon confirmed that it does exist on Nalthis and is leaking somehow, which is why the Tears only grow in Hallendran. I can find the specific interview later if people are interested.

  2. The graphic novel actually pulled at least some of its dialogue from the book. Not all of it though, as far as I recall. I definitely am worried about future graphic novels, beyond the content of the original novel and the quality of dialogue we'll see there.

  3. Rather, one bot. No system to keep out bots is perfect, so this will crop up now and again. Rest assured this is infinitely better than the short period of time where we were seeing up to ten bots an hour. The staff could barely keep up. In the future, if you or anyone else sees a post by a bot, there's no need to make a topic, just report the post (the little button next to the timestamp at the top of a post) and some member of the staff will take care of it promptly. :)

  4. Stay on topic here, downvotes are not relevant to the conversation at hand. I can see upvotes and downvotes and Firerust did not downvote Yata, so I would cease making unsubstantiated accusations. Feel free to continue discussing the topic, but the conversation on downvotes ends here.

  5. We actually don't know whether or not Ashyn has ever had a Shard. As of the "modern" cosmere it does not, but I asked Brandon once and he RAFO'd me, saying that he cannot reveal too much of the history of the Rosharan system without spoiling things for the Stormlight Archive. So unless he has said elsewhere that there was never a Shard on Ashyn (which is entirely possible, I often miss things), right now all we know is that there currently isn't a Shard there.

Actually, if I recall correctly the amount of time was only given to be centuries. We've just assumed it to be 300 since then it lines up with Era 2. In any case, probably isn't relevant since according to WoB, the Pits are no more.

It's pretty explicitly around three hundred years without atium.

“I pretty much ended atium production in the Final Empire for the next three hundred years or so.”

I think it's worth noting though that in Shadows of Self, Wax actually finds himself within what is left of the Pits of Hathsin, with no atium in sight. Brandon's said on multiple occasion that both the Well of Ascension and the small wells within the Pits are no more in the modern era, so it does not seem that atium is currently being produced, at least in the same place or way.

    Hmm, interesting.

    Me theorising:

We've known for a long time that the cosmere has matter, energy, and investiture. I've never thought about nuclear explosions before thought. So we all know when matter becomes energy, there's a lot of it. Investiture can become matter: spren--> shardblades, god metals, etc. I think we can also claim that investiture becomes energy, a person can run on Storm light long after they would be exhausted normally. I can't think of the opposite though, regular matter becoming investiture.

Lift can convert food straight into Stormlight, so I'd say that is one example of regular matter becoming investiture.

  8. I do want to point out a fact that I think has been overlooked quite often in discussions about the identity of the Ones Above. This is quote from a signed book, sourced here.

"Dusk has had Herdazian food and hates it."

This leads me to believe that the Ones Above may not be the monolithic group that they might appear. This doesn't mean that they are Rosharans, but at the very least they've been to Roshar and have either brought some Herdazian food or have a way to prepare it. I do agree that the technology appears Scadrian, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is a Rosharan or two on the crew.

  9. There's also some indication that the Lightweavers helped with morale issues too.

    Quote

"Yet, were the orders not disheartened by so great a defeat, for the Lightweavers provided spiritual sustenance; they were enticed by those glorious creations to venture on a second assault."

This makes sense based on Shallan's interactions with the deserters.

  10. I assume he's not referencing anyone in particular, but just authors that write slowly in general, as he knows/has worked with both of those authors in the past. Silverlight novella is exciting, but I'm incredibly excited for this probably Threnody book. The second idea, where an expedition is sent back to the old continent is the story I've been wanting to hear since I first read Shadows for Silence. Hey Nightblood fans, take heart! From this it sounds like although Nightblood isn't close, we'll see it before we see the modern Mistborn trilogy. It is pretty cool to see that Brandon is going to start to complete the main stories that he originally wanted to tell on some of these planets (at least for now).
