  1. If Kal has a sibling, I personally think it'll be a boy like Tien. That much more difficult to get past. Another little boy that reminds him of the one he failed to save. And personally, I think if he loses a parent, it will be Hesina. If both of Kal's parents make it, I think that Hesina would help heal what is clearly going to be a tough patch between Kal and Lirin. It would be easy, and Kal's life is anything but.
  2. I was always hopeful that we'd see emotion metalminds someday. I figured it could work like tin. You could store courage for later or tap happiness when you're feeling down. It would be pretty useful in my opinion, sort of like emotional Allomancy you can use on yourself.
  3. It was Jedal, after his father.
  4. I'm not sure what would happen. It would be interesting to see what would happen if a spike is hit. I'm sure it would get sheared, but I'm not sure what impact that would have on the kandra, considering they somehow also have Hemalurgic bindpoints on their formless bodies.
  5. I personally find Odium being behind the koloss's rage pretty unlikely. Their rage leads to destruction, which is at least as Ruin-y as it is Odious. Also, it's pretty definitely not due to Odium. Odium has been involved in all the worlds. But I don't think that's necessarily his magic. He could have agents on other planets, spies, or even be covertly manipulating other people with his servants or allies. None of these require someone using his magic.
  6. Alcatraz Five's first draft is finished. Not sure where he's at in the revision process.
  7. Hah, fair enough. You're in for a real treat with that one. I'm a pretty big fan, as you might guess by my username. xD Also, just so you know, you can quote multiple people in the same post by using the multi-quote tool so you don't need to double post.
  8. Good to have you here! Have you tried any of Brandon's other book series?
  9. I'd probably go with nationalistic, personally. I think it has less to do with race, and more to do with where you identify belonging. It fits in with Dilaf's extreme zealous love of Fjorden as well.
  10. I might have picked something other than Windrunning, but I think I need to have a little brand loyalty. xD
  11. Yeah, there's definitely a joke in there. Pinkness has a homophone if you say it quickly enough. Try to under-emphasize the k.
  12. Yes. Smaller spikes just decay faster when iutside a body. The Inquisitors had railroad-spike sized spikes because of the intimidation factor.
  13. We've got that really early Kal one. The Jasnah one isn't even from book three. I don't think there's a need for a Book Three subforum really. We're looking at a spring 2016 release at this point. Honestly, it seems early. I think if you just put *Book Three Spoilers* in the topic, it should be fine.
  14. Hey Shardcellist! You seem to have gotten the basics down pretty well. xD I'm glad you decided to come out of the shadows and join us. Which of Brandon's books do you like the best so far?
  15. If it's less than the four and a half year wait between The Way of Kings and Words of Radiance, I'm happy. And maybe Doors of Stone will come out in 2016 too. A Sanderson/Rothfuss year would be amazing.
  16. For those of you who have read the stuff released during the Shard Hunt on Brandon's site around Words of Radiance, it's out of chapter two of Shadows of Self. There's a bit in the beginning about release orders. Highlights of this include the reveal that a screenplay for Emperor's Soul is in the works, Isaac has drawn a world map of Sel, Firefight (the book, not the person) will reveal how an Epic knows their weakness, and Hoid likes bacon.
  17. I haven't heard about either of those things, but I can't see a world where Brandon would charge for his signature. When I met him, I brought upwards of ten books, and he signed them all without a second thought. And he'll sign books that you bring although if he's at a bookstore, he often requests that you buy something from any author to support the bookstore. Since you're at a con, I think you're in the clear.
  18. Check the annotations, I think it's in there, but I'm on mobile so I can't tell.
  19. A short story Brandon wrote for an anthology a year or so ago. I believe that it features mech suits and such, I never bought it.
  20. 80% I forgot the name of Dreamer and I never knew two of the Alcatrazes. Forgetting Firstborn and Defending Elysium is unforgiveable though xD
  21. Rubix and firstRainbowRose should also be there. I'm not sure what their plan is though.
  22. And yes, it's always possible that in-world characters have flawed knowledge. I've seen no evidence that would give me reason to doubt the veracity of Shallan's claims.
  23. I've only read a bit of his work so far. Ocean at the End of the Lane was the first of his I've read, and it was beautiful. I've also read Stardust, which was pretty great as well, even if I didn't like it as much. I own the Graveyard Book, which I've not yet gotten around to and I also have American Gods on my Nook, but it is weirdly formatted for some reason, so I haven't read it yet. I've heard very good things about it though. I mostly gave him a shot because Pat Rothfuss loves to gush about his work, so I figured it had to be fantastic.
  24. If there's an in-world reason, I assume it will be revealed when he meets Yesteel in Nightblood, since Yesteel would presumably get the joke.
  25. I'm very certain that there is no relationship between the Shattered Plains and Adonalsium's Shattering. We know now when the Plains were broken, it occurred during the Final Desolation. Honor and Odium were both separate beings by then, so the Shattering of Adonalsium must have occurred long before anything happened to Stormseat.
