  1. Asylum winced again. They had never looted dead bodies before. Ok, maybe once, but it wasn’t as gruesome as this and they didn’t think it would just wash out. Asylum knew that this work was going to get dirty and they could excuse murde- wait, since when can they excuse murder? Their mom who’d be so… wait not mom, never mom, she is not their mother. Unless they wanted to give that woman another spine injury they could never call her mother. but just in case they should probably avoid cracks today. Anyway what was the boss talking about? Asylum rolled their eyes. “Ha ha, and there’s a penny on the ground huh?” A bronze shine flickered in their peripherals, “ooh a penny!” they picked it up and flipped it a few times. Heads, heads, and heads. seemed today would be lucky. ”so boss, I don’t have much to do today got any plans?”
  2. Asylum Smedry waded through the bodies with a grimace. Some of that grimace was because of the bloodied bodies but most of it was because of the slim chance some of that might get on their suit. They weren’t insensitive or desensitized to death (though, quite frankly, this was probably the worst scene they had ever witnessed). it was just because of the simple fact that they were dead, and Asylum couldn’t do anything about, but their suit was still intact. Asylum winced as their boss thrust a coin through the man’s throat. What a waste of good coin, they thought as they walked up to Perses, knocking on a collapsing wooden beam for good luck. Asylum spoke directly to Perses, making sure to avoid his spiked eyes, “heya boss, I was wondering if you could spare some coin for a, um, Business Investment” they looked down to see the dead man with a coin stuck in his throat “Doesn’t look like you’re using it for much anyway”
  3. I have a hero who would be willing to help stop corruption, if only someone told him to do it. (he’s traumatized from not acting on orders and doing something on a hunch.) I think he will be very useful in the plot (whatever it is) but he needs someone needs to hire him to do the right thing. he’s also a spy not a soldier.
  4. Rule 54,321: Short people have less body in total and therefore need less to help them recover, therefore lower medical bills.
  5. That is a good point, and basically proves that aluminum can be sent into the cognitive realm using perpendicularities, but still begs the question of can you use the surge of transportation on it? As an investiture sink it shouldn’t work but if you can use a perpendicularity what is stopping you?
  6. 12345. Short people can fit in a box and then mail themselves wherever they want to go to save money on travel.
  7. Technically, according to Bastille versus the evil librarians, we already all have Smedry talents. But if I were to have a true Smedry Talent it would probably be overconfidence. Literally I can do anything if I think I can. And I think I can do anything.
  8. We know that people marrying into the Smedry family gain a Smedry Talent. Which implies that being excepted into the Smedries literally just makes you a Smedry. And presumably if a Smedry couple divorced, the non-blood Smedry stops being a Smedry and loses their Talent. Would that work with adoption? For example, if a Smedry adopted a child would that child get a talent? And vice versa, if a Smedry disowned their child, Would they lose their talent?
  9. Since aluminum, as far as we know, can’t really be affected by investiture, would it be possible to transport it from the physical realm to the cognitive, using a perpendicularity or the surge of transportation? I suspect that if you are inside of an aluminum box, you can’t travel to the cognitive realm, but really, what would be stopping you? Would using aluminum handcuffs be in effective way of disableing an elscaller? Because you’re not using the surge on the aluminum you’re using it on yourself so aluminum shouldn’t stop that. If anyone has WOB on this, that would be very appreciated.
  10. Here’s a silly idea I have. It’s still somewhat a work in progress. Asylum Smedry: Feedback is appreciated.
  11. Just for your information all Keshi can do with his cytonic powers right now is 1. Communicate with Goto or other cytonic beings AND 2. manipulate what one or more people (it takes more effort per person) senses (currently he only uses this for auditory hallucinations or invisibility, but he could do more with practice.)
  12. This is my character idea to help in upcoming plot stuff: Keshi
  13. sorry for being a little late, but I would also be interested in doing it Alleyverse plot things. I like role-playing a lot, but I haven’t had a lot of opportunities recently.
  14. Thanks for the info. I guess my main question is how did it get enough power to create cognitive shadows if it’s still didn’t have enough power to summon spirits?
  15. The nightmares are, presumably, spirits of the dead tied to the cognitive and physical realm. But what are they tied with? We know from the scholars and hoid that the machine harvested the spirits of the dead before summoning any spirits. Usually you need a splinter to make a cognitive shadow but the machine didn’t have any splinters at first so how did it sustain the dead’s spirits?
  16. Near the end of Yumi in the nightmare painter, hoid says that the machine is basically an awakened object with vague instructions that make it dangerous. If this doesn’t of a specific talking sword there are other things that should. for example, the machine absorbs investiture around it and creates a black smoke. Of course, they are very different in many ways. For example, Nightblood’s command makes them sentient, which is definitely something the machine lacks, but I think it’s important to point out the similarities.
  17. I’m not saying you would use your finger to keep the momentum. You would just use it to start the speed. I still think you’re right that the finger push would not give it enough speed to start an orbit, but if you had some sort of contraption, like a rail gun, that could give it the speed to complete several revolutions, you could get it into a pretty consistent orbit.
  18. “there’s no one left for me at home” feynah said, truthfully. “i’ve been running from there ever since” here their accent started slipping “ and everywhere I went,I made a new me, reinvented myself. you know what I mean?” They looked up at Tsyan with teary eyes. he doesn’t need to know this, they thought, im blowing my cover. “Sorry, I just need some air.” Feynah said, as she stood up and ran out the door their hair fluctuating Colors as started remembering. she remembered her fifteenth birthday. She remembered all those nights in the basement touching different metals until something happened. She remembered her father yelling, asking why his daughter was suddenly an adult. She remembered her mother stabbing him through the heart. all the memories she had been holding back came through as she cried her eyes out. Instinctively she reverted her age to 14. To forget what happened, to be papa’s little girl. she fell to the floor in a heap of oversized clothes and stopped crying, for no more tears would come out.
  19. Sorry for not clarifying this. I was thinking the A-Iron would act as a gravitational force, but you would push it into orbit by slinging it with your fingers or something. You could also probably keep it in orbit by lessening your pull on it when it comes close and then strengthening it when it goes farther. To my knowledge this should cause an elliptical orbit. And you mentioned it would be impossible to reach the speed needed to enter earths orbit, but all you need is the speed necessary to enter orbit with the force exerted on it. I’m pretty sure orbital velocity goes down when the gravitational force goes down.
  20. A-iron allows you to pull metal to you, so if you accelerated it to orbital velocity based on how much you’re pulling it, compensating for of the earths gravity, could you send it into orbit around yourself? Of course, you would probably need some other thing like F-zinc to calculate all this, but could it be done?
  21. Well, that’s good, Feynah thought with relief, at least Clotho can be trusted. They sat down at a nearby table inside and ordered two drinks with some of the boxings they got from cards. “So why are you working for her?” They motioned to the back room where Clotho was still unconscious. “Not to judge, but couldn’t someone like you work for a higher bidder.” Feynah still didn’t trust that Tsyan wasn’t here on official business, but knowing more about him would help future interactions. ”If I were you, I’d be as far away from this hellhole and be on my home planet.” Not that there would be anyone there for me. They thought.
  22. Feynah froze. A Ghostblood?, they thought, fear building up, what if he’s looking for me? I thought I was more careful. Taking a deep breath, the calmed themself. They’re probably not looking for me. They thought, I should warn Clotho. Feynah nodded to Tsyan and started walking to the door, then they stopped. What if Clotho is a ghostblood too? They thought, I need to gather more information first. Feynah looked over at Tsyan, “would you like to join me for a drink?” They said, motioning to the door. “It’s on me.”
  23. What makes someone an Elantrian is their connection to the Dor so couldn’t you theoretically store that connection into a metalmind? If you did this would your skin stop glowing and you can’t access the dor for as long as you’re storing? In addition, if you stored your connection into an unsealed metalmind could you then give that to someone else, and they can become an elantrian? finally what if you tap connection to the Dor when you’re already in elantrian would you be able to draw more investiture even though you can already draw an infinite amount of investiture?
  24. he doesn't recognize me, Feynah thought, while to be expected, this could be a great opportunity to learn more about my new assassin friend. "she seems fine," they said calmly, "only unconscious, but what does it mean to you? you don't seem like the type to spend their days guarding some noblewoman." while Tsyan responded, they took the time to inspect him to get a better sense of his backstory.
  25. Feynah walked in on Clotho lying limp on a chair. Well she’s either dead or unconscious, she thought, neither is good for her, slightly more rich, daughter. She made a convincing, almost puke before running into the bathroom to change. I need someone who’s not suspicious. Someone who could blend in anywhere, she thought, I guess I need Jackie. Jackie was a jack of all trades persona that could blend in almost anywhere. Picture the most average, androgynous person you can think of. Finding Feynah/Jackie is like finding a needle in a haystack. A few minutes later, a woman, or was it a man, in their mid-20s walked out of the bathroom and strolled across the main room to the door. Once outside they leaned against the wall next to Tsyan giving him a small nod of greeting. @I think I am here.
