I recommend looking at this site: https://17thshard.github.io/reading-order/ It's got a big list and visuals of how all the books connect. It's not completely comprehensive, and isn't updated for WaT (I think), but it's got almost all the references.

Rankings are relative, if it was just for books in general there probably wouldn't be anything below C. I don't do rereads so some books would probably change rating if I remembered them better. In no particular order: S Tier: Final Empire Well of Ascension Hero of Ages Way of Kings The Emperor's Soul A Tier: Words of Radiance The Alloy of Law Sixth of the Dusk White Sand (1-3) Warbreaker B Tier: Oathbringer Wind and Truth Elantris Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell Mistborn: Secret History Shadows of Self C Tier: The Lost Metal Edgedancer Dawnshard The Bands of Mourning D Tier: The Sunlit Man Yumi and the Nightmare Painter The Eleventh Metal Rhythm of War F Tier: Tress of the Emerald Sea The Hope of Elantris Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania I think that's all of them.

37 Allies, possible new pattern showing up?
SPECTRE120 replied to FarHorizon's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It could be the number of Valor. People showing up to help at the last minute seems like it would match the intent. -
The definition of a knell is "the sound of a bell, especially when rung solemnly for a death or funeral". All of the Threnodite planets have names related to songs of mourning so I believe it's probably the place where Ambition died.

I found this WoB: The ones I can think of are: Ghostbloods Diagram 17th Shard Envisagers Sons of Honor Skybreakers Sleepless That leaves 2, and I'm not even sure if the sleepless count or not, so maybe 3. Am I just forgetting some or are there still societies that we don't know about? Edit: Forgot the Ire, that's another one.

One of the main good guys has gotta die. That's just how books like this work. Who will it be? (I realize Renarin and Jasnah are planned for flashbacks, but that doesn't make them safe). Are there any important candidates I missed?

Granted, but now you can only read Alethi glyphs. I wish for 1+1 to equal 3. -
You accidentally also summon me because my spiritweb is so connected to the Sandwich so I un-vaporize and appear right in front of you, holding the Sandwich.

I have a theory with no evidence whatsoever but I thought that it'd be cool (and hey, if it is proven true in 10 years or something, I'll have bragging rights): Yolen is so hard to find because Adonalsium was their sun and now the planet is just wandering without a star. Any thoughts?

The definition of a knell according to google is "the sound of a bell, especially when rung solemnly for a death or funeral." I'd say this gives points to ambition what with all the Threnodite planets related to songs and death. I could see it being the Dor though, and yeah, Yolen being so hard to find probably means that it isn't Yolen.

Thanks for all the info and answers! For reference about the air, look at this article. I know you have to suspend your disbelief, but I had to suspend it a lot more for Tress than for other Cosmere books.

I travel back to this timeline and stealthily swap my alternate sandwich for the real one.

The world of Tress has a lot of things wrong with it that annoys me. There are mentions to several animals including fish, whales, and butterflies. How do the fish survive? If they are underground or something, how are they cheap enough for poor people to buy them? Also, how do plants grow? It says that they have 87 different uses for plywood; where are the trees? How did trees grow on an island made of salt? Also, where does the rain come from if there aren't apparent sources of water evaporation? How is there so much groundwater if the Aether seas absorb all the water? What causes the seethe, and why does it stop and start? Why are the rain patterns so constant and why are they not constant over the crimson sea? How are the moons so close to the planet and how do the spores not superheat the atmosphere when falling through it? Where does the air come from? Some of these questions can be explained with investiture shenanigans, but others can't. I get that Brandon was trying to write a fairytale/whimsical story, but to me this just doesn't feel like it fits in with the rest of the Cosmere. I'm not saying Tress was bad; I liked it narratively, and I know that many people loved it, but there are a LOT of problems with the world.

A bit off topic, but I think it'd be cool if in era 4 they had snipers that could shoot spikes into people to damage their spiritwebs as a way of fighting magic users. You're a gold compounder? Not if we spike feruchemy out of you. You're a radiant? Not if we spike your spren bond out of you.

I build a time machine and go back in time to the first post, creating an alternate timeline where I have the sandwich.
