  1. okay so i had to write a short monologue for english class from the perspective of an assigned greek god

    (mine was prometheus)

and i wanna know what you guys think (i've never written a monologue before so uh)

    Spoiler

I cannot stop wondering what I might be, had I not stolen the fire of Olympus. Would I still be here, chained to this cliff and waiting for Zeus’ foul bird to deliver my punishment day and day again? Or would I be free among the men whom I created?

Would I be among my enemies, the Gods? Or would I live with my family; my wife and children?

I am sure as the sun rises that I do not know what my future may have been, only what it is now. Misery and pain, never living but too far from death to be relieved. The days are heavy like an anchor, dragging on and on, each the same as the other!--each bringing the same agony as the one before. But the bird, with time, has become cunning–ripping and tearing what it knows will hurt most before it snatches its treasure and flees, leaving my screams far behind.

Oh great Zeus, you are selfish and ignorant, more unseeing than a blind man and more heartless than a dead one! I give life to mankind, and they worship you–I give them your fire, and still, they worship you

You only make a fool of yourself, punishing the god who brings you the most glory.

Ah, just like clockwork, here comes the eagle once more to make its daily meal from my flesh, only to return tomorrow, and the next day, and the one after that.

Curse the cruel cycle of nature, and curse eternal life; I wish to be free–and if I cannot be free, I wish to die.

it's a lil dark but uh

    thoughts?

      is it too short?

I think it seems like the perfect length for a monologue, not too long. Sometimes longer monologues drag on and the substance is lost.

      Spoiler

One minor thing, prometheus technically isn't a god, he's a Titan but that doesn't matter :P I just wanted to share my facts

i was trying to work that in somehow, but i thought it would make more sense for the assignment to just refer to him as a god

      thanks everyone!!! 😁😁😁
