  1. more doodle things for you : )
  2. Tried some digital art and it looks… alright? I think??? And here’s a pencil drawing:
  3. I have a prompt, they’re kind of lyrics I guess: We’re walking together but you can’t see me You only see the girl beside me and I get why she’s the pretty one, and I’m just the other one, the other one
  4. Um, so I might have drawn two people that I imagined as twin sisters, given them names and lengthy backstories, and now I want to put them in a story but I’m already writing one that I really like and I’m trying not to get sidetracked on other projects and… yeah lol. And here’s a few randoms:
  5. thank you!!
  6. good morning/afternoon/evening ladies and gentlemen and welcome back to another episode of Misty tries to draw and fails. Dramatically. Oh well. Here’s a dump of my most recent forays into the world of sketches, made even worse by the fact that I’m trying a new style: Constructive criticisms please??
  7. Matra rushed over. “Wait,” she panted, “did you try this?” She struck a match, watched it flare up for a second, and then tossed it casually into the void. The light was immediately snuffed out, leaving a charred residue on the floor where she had dropped it. “Oh well,” she shrugged. “Nothing wrong with a failed experiment.” “Did anyone try doing that with Lifeless? Have you even done any of the proper scientific procedures?” She pulled out a notebook and starts scribbling furiously.
  8. Matra gasps, her eyes lighting up. “Count me in!” She proceeds to do a sort of jig round the room, humming to herself and seeming to overflow with ecstasy. She supposes that this is not an entirely normal reaction to a simple field trip, but it is Sanderson, so what can she say? ”When do we leave? Where are we going? Tell me everything!”
  9. “Thanks so much!” She looks around. “This place is awesome!” ”… where exactly is this place?” “Um… my minder says I’m not supposed to talk to strangers… so yeah, sure! Does it involve Cosmere books?”
  10. A knock sounds on the door. Two figures stand in the hallway. ‘This is Matra,’ the first says. ‘She displays severe signs of Brandofandonitis, and I’ve heard that this is the best place to bring her. I hope you can find space for her.’ He turns to go, leaving a confused looking girl clutching a bulging bag. There are a few corners poking out that look suspiciously like Sanderson covers. ‘Hi everyone!’ she says brightly.
  11. Here’s a random scene from about halfway through the story, after Rebae chooses Maikel as her husband and while she’s in the process of falling in love with him for real (yes I know its cliche, deal with it) Critique would be most welcome
  12. Granted. All the books are in different languages you can’t read. (although I don’t know anything about D&D so idk if that’s much of a curse lol) I wish to be able to travel to Shadesmar and back again at will.
  13. SOON MAY THE WELLERMAN COME
  14. No, sorry. I’m from the UK. TPBM is vibing to music rn.
  15. Yes!
  16. Thanks so much! I wasn’t intentionally thinking of it when I thought of the premise/general plot, but I had read them recently so I feel like it was probably subconsciously influenced. And when I read them back i realised they do sound a lot like it
  17. So this book doesn’t have a name yet but I’ve written some of it and done some (awful) drawings for it. I’ve done the prologue, epilogue and chapter 1 - yes i know i’m weird, i always start by doing the beginning and the end and working through to meet in the middle. it’s easier for me okay Also I should probably mention that there’s a few implied references to rape/sexual abuse, so if you don’t want to read about that then please don’t read the prologue. so here’s the prologue: the epilogue: an un-edited chapter 1: some drawings of Rebae:
  18. I really love Finlandia by Sibelius - but I might be biased in that it’s the only piece I’ve been able to play in an actual full orchestra with actual high-quality musicians. (I’m in a lot of youth ensembles that have musicians of all abilities, so you always get that one trumpet player who’s just started learning, is super enthusiastic and is always a mile in front of/behind everyone else. But hey, we were all there once ) It’s also one of the only one’s I’ve heard live in a full orchestra (I’ve seen a lot of chamber music). Fair enough, the beauty of music is that it’s always open to different interpretations I can totally see where you’re coming from with yours and I really like it.
  19. I just listened back to my recording and cannot believe I’m sharing this on the internet for all to see. This is a very, very inaccurate representation of how I usually sound. So, bearing in mind this piece is pretty hard for me, and I have a sore throat so it’s hard to make a decent tone, and I’ve only been playing it for a few weeks, and this is only my third day practicing with the piano (which by the way I take no credit for, I found it on spotify)… considering all that… … here you go. Listen at your peril. street tango with piano.m4a (read after you’ve listened) edit: if it wasn’t clear, this is in relation to SpinningSky’s post requesting to hear the piece I mentioned in my previous post that I said sounded like the battle of the tower. I think it sounds like that battle because its all up, down, up, as if its switching povs between dalinar/adolin’s anger at *spoiler* and kaladin’s inner peace at picking up a spear again.
  20. does anyone watch twoset violin on youtube? if you haven’t, they’re really funny (even if they have kind of monopolised the entire classical music community on yt) and post content that’s entertaining but also educational. and it’s thanks to them that i have such an unnecessarily large knowledge of violin concertos for a flute player
  21. I got tickets to see James Galway (if you haven’t heard of him, he’s this super famous amazing flautist) but I was ill on the day of the concert. I moped for weeks. In terms of what I’ve actually seen - probably the Orchestra of the Swan (google them) playing Finlandia by Sibelius. Made my classical music soul burst from happiness. Such an amazing piece, played by an amazing orchestra
  22. Nice to meet you all! I hereby call this meeting of the 17SSO to order, at [whenever you read this] and in the [wherever you are] rehearsal studio. Present: @MysticalShadows ~ Misty [mentally add your name if you would like to attend this meeting - all are welcome!] Agenda: At the suggestion of SpinningSky, I believe we should consider what music could be used for various Cosmere films. There’s a piece (not original) I’m playing at the moment that I think really fits the Battle of the Tower in tWoK - I’ll edit this post and add a recording when I have a chance to record - so if anyone else has any other ideas, original or not, feel free to submit them if you want! Equally, you don’t have to, if people want to use this as a discussion about all things musician-y then you can absolutely do that as well. How do people want to use this thread? edit: omg i just read that back. how the scud am i so formal sometimes and so informal other times, completely unintentionally
  23. hi fellow musicians one flautist at your service any other orchestral players out there? or just musicians in general? (and yes violas are welcome as well, we of the 17SSO take pity on you. jkjk)
  24. heyy!! as you can see, I was awakened from my slumber by the mention of queerness. I shall now return to my eternal stupor.
  25. hey i’m a gay disaster can i join in? *puppy dog eyes* I’m a nonbinary asexual homoromantic lesbian (cos that’s not a mouthful at all) who’s had their fair share of questioning crises lol nice to meet yall
