  1. Rayvyn comes back out, now wearing her cloak, her daggers carefully hidden away. "Do you want to carry him or should I?"
  2. Rayvyn nods. "Something like that. It...it was something new, an escape, a chance for what we all truly longed for; oblivion." She shakes her head. "It's...it's hard to explain. The city...it gets in your head. You start to fight not just the outside world but yourself, and every waking second is..." She shakes her head again. "I'm going to grab my cloak and daggers." She steps back into the shed.
  3. Rayvyn frowns. "That...that must have been long ago. I did not know this. I wonder..." She shakes her head, clearing it. "We should probably get him back to the inn."
  4. "Now should we help him?" Rayvyn asks, gesturing at Klave. She shakes her head. "No, our cities have no such names. They are numbered."
  5. Rayvyn shakes her head. "No, I don't doubt you, but you don't know the numbers of our cities. I grew up on the streets of 19. Everyone knows of it, on our world."
  6. She nods. "Close enough. I grew up on the streets of...but you won't understand. I grew up on the streets, and then he found me..." she looks at Klave. "Should we help him?
  7. "No, I can't, and I have no idea," Rayvyn snaps. "He doesn't tell me anything." She sighs, letting her tough facade fade. "I have no where to go. You can lock me in a dungeon, or, kill me, or...or anything! Just don't make me leave."
  8. "That wasn't my fault!" Rayvyn says, gritting her teeth. "I...I don't know what I would have done." She looks disturbed. "I need to think."
  9. "Yes." "I know that! I was explaining myself to him. None of you would ever agree with me. I've never brought up anything, but when people ask me, I answer, thank you very much."
  10. Rayvyn looks away. "You already know my thoughts on killing, and he's never done anything to children before."
  11. She glares at him. "I told you I was working for someone. You haven't told us anything about yourself, I notice."
  12. Rayvyn shrugs his hand off, patting out the fire. "It's...he can control me. He hasn't done it in so long...I forgot, and I didn't know he wanted Tacien, I swear."
  13. The wraith ghost man thing looked at Rayvyn in the snow. "You are a fool, little bird, squandering opportunities with emotion. I will be back." Then he disappears. Rayvyn sits up, but doesn't move. What have I done?
  14. He ignores the flames and walks outside. Rayvyn grabs Tacien from Cufre. "I'm sorry," she whispers, running back to the man.
  15. "My name is of little importance. I am her employer, and I will be taking her and the child with me." Then the Tacien is gone, stolen away by Marilyn. The man frowns. "That was...displeasing to me. Go get him, little bird." He waves his hand, and Klave is shoved away. Rayvyn runs outside, finding Cufre. "I need Tacien."
  16. The man picks up Tacien, then looks at Rayvyn. "Come on," he says. She follows, looking back apologetically.
  17. Suddenly, Rayvyn can control herself again. She drops the knives and runs to the farthest corner, gasping. "I"m so sorry, I couldn't--" Then the man walked in, tall with dark hair. He was young, maybe 18, and smiled at Klave. "I'm here for the boy, and her." He gestured at Rayvyn.
  18. Her cloak flew off, and several knives tore threw her boots. A couple tore threw the back of her shirt, and the one in her hand flew away. A pile of dozens of knives in every shape and size sat before him. "Thank you," she said, then lunged towards him.
  19. The knife flips away, and Rayvyn sighs in relief. But again, her own reflexes work against her. Another knife is there in seconds. "Someone take him away!" She shouts, even while reaching for him.
