  1. “Dead,” Xi giggled. “H-h-had. Hat. Haaaaat. Hate…herrrr. Heeeer. Here. Here! Here dead!”
  2. “Where we just were.” She frowned, wincing and putting a hand to her head. “Or…maybe I’m remembering wrong. It’s certainly been quite a day.”
  3. "Are you?" She asked. "That's...that's your world, isn't it?"
  4. Rue let out a small breath. "I...forgot you could do that. Thank you." She grabbed a piece of her jacket and tore it, tying it around her shoulder as a bandage. "We...need to go back."
  5. Am I the only one who flexes my toes when I'm writing something and get really excited?

    Is...is that just me?

I don't actually write that much (which is unfortunate, but I spend too much of my time reading) but when I do, it's sitting on my couch

Whenever I write, it’s in my bed, but not really floppy just…laying there.

  6. Rue shivered, stopping herself from pulling her arm away. "Yeah," she forced out. "Do that, then-then we can...bandage it or something?"
  7. "N-not myself," Rue said, face pale. "The coin is still in there." She looked around. They were in a field on a mountain. "Blood and bloody ashes...we need to get to the clinic-" She tried to form another gateway, but couldn't focus well enough.
  8. Rue gritted her teeth, grabbing her shoulder. "You will suffer," she promised the son. She concentrated, and then a gateway snapped open. She stumbled through.
  9. Manipulate my...Icy rage filled her. Completely wordless, completely overwhelming...it had been years since Rue had felt anything so strongly. She relished it, raising her chin and giving the nobles a hard look, seizing the power and carefully wrapping them in weaves of Air. She turned to go, and then...a coin shot off the desk towards her, fast as a bullet. She tried to dodge, but it lodged itself deep in her shoulder.
  10. Rue jumped, clenching her jaw to hold in a scream. The man frowned and stepped back. "Clumsy skaa...that vase was worth many times what any master would pay for you."
  11. "Yes," Rue whispered, suddenly looking very small. Her hands were balled into fists at her sides. "Interesting," The man said, giving his son a nod. "And how far is 'far away'? Off this world, perhaps?" Rue felt her terror spiking. No no no no no no no, I can't...I need...her breath started coming quicker. Strangely enough, TAAron also started to feel the fear, though not quite so strongly.
  12. Rue would have jumped at the sudden words, but she was too scared to move...no, no, she wasn't supposed to feel scared, she wasn't supposed to feel, she was a rosebud opening to the sun, a rosebud...I can't, she sent back. No word that's untrue... "F-far away," she whispered. The man raised an eyebrow. "Did you hear any of our conversation?" He asked coolly. Rue felt strangely compelled to answer...and TAAron, not to interfere...
  13. Rue entered, stepping inside. She shouldn't be afraid of these people. They were...they were just...but they looked so much like him. Or did they? Was it just her mind playing tricks on her again? I need to be stronger. I can't fall apart every time...Rue realized she was looking the Lord in the eye and quickly dropped her gaze. The older one, the Lord, frowned and nodded for her to set the tea on a desk. She did, and he stood up and walked over to her. He put a finger under her chin and lifted it, and she stiffened, forcing herself not to magically slam him against the wall. "I don't recognize you..." he said, voice silky and honeyed. "Where did you come from?" She didn't answer, and grabbed her chin. "Answer me, skaa!"
  14. "You think?" Rue asked sarcastically. She raised a hand and knocked on the door. The conversation paused. "That will be the skaa I sent for tea," the younger voice said. "You really ought to be more strict with them, Father...Enter!"
  15. Rue froze. "What?" "Of course, Father...has the Ministry agreed to this?" "The Inquisitors will be at the ball tonight. I'll get their blessing, and then...well. The other houses will finally learn to fear the Elariels as they should."
  16. "Inen...do you have news?" "House Tekiel has refused our offer," The man-no, the boy-sounded angry. "It is as we expected," the older voice replied. "But, Father, this leaves us with no alliances-" "We have no need for their alliances. If they don't believe that there are other worlds...that just means more for us." At that moment, Rue walked up the stairs, carrying a tray of tea and covered in significantly more ash. "This is humiliating," she whispered. "We should go."
  17. "Ah," Tal said with a wink, "but they have a safe place for now, and the chances of the clinic getting destroyed are...very, very low. 'Their only safe place'....isn't it wonderful that we can offer safety?" "Yes, sir," Rue said, utterly serene and filled with anger. She walked off in the direction he'd pointed. The man started up the stairs, turning into a small study on the second floor. He nodded for TAAron to wait outside, then walked in. "Father."
  18. you gotta keep you creepy weird dude close. @Ancient Elantrian I think Elan is slowly losing his sanity. Maybe we should do something about that…
  19. “It’s awful.” The man stopped in front of a mansion. Several guards opened the gates, and he stepped through, gesturing for Rue and TAAron to follow. He walked into the house. “You,” he pointed at TAAron, “come with me. And you,” he eyed Rue, “get some tea and bring it to the study.” Tal knew he’d regret it, but…best to let her talk. “What’s so bad about getting attached to the clinic?”
  20. “Of course,” Rue breathed. “Of course. One man, with too much power…”
  21. “And no one’s risen up?” That isn’t right…no one lets their people be oppressed for that long…what’s wrong with this world?
  22. “What?” Rue hissed, more emotion that usual in her voice, though it was hard to tell what. The man glanced back, frowning, and she looked at the ground, gritting her teeth. “How long has it been this way?”
  23. “What right does he have to do this?”
  24. *shrugs* up to you!
