  1. Sharanna's eyes narrowed. "Of course. Allow us to aid you." Her men moved forward in tight, militaristic lines. They raised their own weapons. Sharana spun her first dueling cane with a flourish and pulled out the other one from her belt. The House members dove in, joining the fight.
  2. "I . . . okay." Aki did his best to wrap his head around the new info. He pulled a rice ball out of his back and sat it on Nicks arm. That counted as organic material right?
  3. Sharp's heart sped up--he hadn't expected that to have such an effect. Should he push harder? Would that wake Corin up, or make things worse? He decided to take the chance. There was nothing else to do. "So they are important," He called, loud enough for the entire arena to hear. "Why?" He carelessly threw them in the air and caught them. Sharp hated using triggering Corin as a tactic--there was some flicker of humanity in his reaction--but he was also forcing them into a death tournament. Sharp would use any advantage he was given. Maybe if he got Corinn talking, fighting himself, Tinker and Marewell could do something with the extra time.
  4. "Uh . . . what's a byo suht?" Aki shook has head, it was hard to be surprised, it this point. He grabbed Nick by his underarms, and dragged into the sunlight. It was difficult, with so much dust, but he felt obligated to do what he was told. The new dusty setting has warm, and he started sweating under his armor. Maybe they'd move again soon. This place didn't look safe.
  5. Sharp watched this unfold. He relaxed a little, knowing Dougella wasn't in immediate danger anymore. But still, he was faced with his lack of choices. Tinker and Marewell had come closer, and were talking about something. He didn't catch what they'd said. Would they really fight? Would they try to rebel against Corrin? Corrin would just kill them. Sharp couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. He couldn't do anything. Sharp tightened his hand around the knife in the pocket of his coat, anxiously wondering if he could hit Corrin with it from here. But then his fingers brushed the pockets other contents. He pulled out the pair of ruby dice. Kryn had filled them with stormlight--investiture Sharp couldn't use--earlier, hoping to use them as makeshift spheres. But Kryn was gone know. They glowed softly under his gaze, and suddenly he had an idea. A stupid idea. Sharp held the dice between his thumb and finger, lifting them over his head. "Hey casino guy! these important?" He tried not to let his nervousness show, but his voice did crack. Maybe they were worth something. Maybe they'd shock Corrin. Maybe they'd stall him. Anything he could do to help, was enough for Sharp. @Edema Rue The sound of hard boot falls rang through the alley. Much closer then the peacekeepers. Behind the gathering of gang members and rebels, another group emerged from the buildings shadows. At their head was a tall, sturdy woman. She wore a sleek white blouse and a matching white suit coat over it. On any one else, they wouldn've looked odd with her practical grey trousers and leather boots. Not on her. The coat had a patch on the shoulder. A house coat of arms, made up of a pair of intense silver eyes overlaying a gold coin. An near ancient insignia. No one had worn it in nearly a hundred years. She grinned, perfectly painted lips framing pearly teeth. Her long black hair shifted in the breeze. "What do we have here?" Her voice was girlish but it had an unmistakable edge. "Any army?" Her elegant pale hand tightened on the dueling cane she had leaning against her shoulder. "Are you, by chance, looking for fellows?" The men behind her, a good dozen at least, lowered their weapons. "You aren't the only ones looking for a fight with the so called 'Peace' -keepers tonight!" Her vicious grin tightened. "I am Sharanna Aurum McDonald. Representative of The House. Mind if we join you?" @The Stormfather --------------- The village finally came into view, after what seemed like an endless dirt road. It was smaller then Sharlin had expected. Smaller and dirtier. Sharlin didn't mind, she was small and dirty herself, after all. She double checked the tip in her pocket, her reason for coming. Yes, there were whispers of rebellion here. One of their kids had gotten taken for the games, it seemed. She could work with that. The House could work with that. Sharlin skipped up to the first house, her bag bumping against her back as she did so. She knocked a cheerful little tune into the door, and brushed the dirt off her crest patch on her jacket. The thread it was made of was actually metallic--gold for the coin, silver for the eyes. She'd always wondered who's eyes those were. A tiny, old, dead part of her considered calculating how much it was worth. That doesn't matter, she reminded herself as she waited for an answer from the house, I don't have to worry about that anymore. @The Bookwyrm
  6. "Who--" He glanced around, more then a little shaken by all the rapid changes. "Huh" Aki turned to the new guy, reaching to help him up. "Who're you?"

  13. So . . .

I was gonna re-arrange my schedule and drop a class because I decided I wasn't that interested in it but.

Our official schedules came out today and I actually kinda like it?? It doesn't seem as complicated as it was going to be.

So I might not change it? Because schedule changing is very stressful and a massive hassle (at least is was last year).

Also fun fact, if I don't change anything I will technically be enrolled in 3 different schools at once.

      Nope!!

I have regular classes at my high school, and them I'm also taking college courses that are held in the same building but require registration at the college, and I'm doing a course at the local community college that I'll commute to in the middle of the day.

And hey, if you count seminary that's technically four!

I was thinking of dropping the community college stuff . . . I'm on the fence about it atm

  16. Sharp watched Dougella fight in horror. He should do something. He had one dagger. If he threw it at her attacker, he could miss and hit her. Even if he did hit it, he'd loose the knife and be unarmed during his duel. He couldn't move, stuck on the little stone platform. He should do something. But he couldn't. --------------------------------- "Your finally going to do something worth remembering." Sharp's father meant to comfort him with that comment, but it only sent chills down his spine. "S-sure." It felt weird standing there at the train station without any luggage. But he wouldn't need it where he was going. Even if he had taken personal items with him, they'd just be taken away when he got to the games. His father's dull grey eyes studied him, as they had many times before. "I very proud of you." He's proud I'm entering a murder game. Very in character for father. Sharanna was standing next to father. His threadbare suit and bed head were particularly shabby next to her sleek red gown and glossy black hair. She was also staring at him, but she wasn't proud. Her lips were pursed disappointedly. She hadn't wanted him to go. But, she also didn't know the pressure he'd been under. "Remember who you are--" His father was saying, someone should give him a limit on his over emotional rants. "--yes father I know, a born warrior--" "--who is built for the games." The grey eyes hardened, annoyed at being interrupted. It was enough of a warning to silence Sharp for the time being. "Our family has always existed to combat the games--to fight in them and to win!" "And we did . . . at Threnody." Sharp couldn't help but answer. He was starting an argument that they'd had a million times, but he didn't care. He wasn't going to run off and die without fighting against it one last time. "Sharp'i wasn't a direct Descendant of Sharp I." Father said sternly. "And? It shouldn't matter! The family has a win, isn't that good enough for you?" Sharanna raised her eyebrows, shocked Sharp was actually doing this right now. Shocked he was putting up a fight after staying quiet the past while. "It is not. Only the direct descendents inherits the geas! Our family will fight and die in these games until Sharps heir wins! Sharp II swore it with his final breath!" Sharp closed his mouth. He had no way to disprove his fathers strange beliefs, other then explaining how ridiculous they were "We are all the same! Sharp, reborn again and again so each generation can have a chance to win! And our family will continue to know death and misfortune through the games until someone wins!" "If we're trying to win to avoid 'destiny' with the games, then why don't we avoid them in the first place?" It was utter nonsense. "Because, child, Sharp must be put to rest!" That was it. What his father truly believed. That every Sharp was the same man reincarnated--unable to find eternal rest because of his unjust death in the games. Doomed to fight in them again and again until he had a victory. How convenient that there hadn't been a games during fathers generation. And yet, despite all of Sharps doubt at his father, he was here. About to enter. Because deep down he believed it. All of it. That's what happened when you were taught it over and over again. Had it drilled into your skull, more important than any school work. Spent hours and days and weeks and years training longer and harder to be a better fighter. Thinking you were a dead man, in a child's body. Because that's what father said. So yes, Sharp would go. He would fight in the games. And whether he believed that was who he was or not, he'd win. Then, maybe, his father would act normal. Maybe his sister would stop sneaking off at night to who knows were, and start talking to him. Maybe Sharp's soul truly would be put to rest. He didn't know. How could he? -------------------------- So Sharp stood there frozen, thinking far too much. Unable to really do anything. Certainly, nothing that would that would be worth remembering.
  17. Welcome to the Shard!!! As a veteran, our Hunger games RP's are always super fun. I'd love to see you in our next one! The current one is meant to finish around the middle to end of August, and a new one should start up soon after. Each game is inspired by a Branden Sanderson work, and includes magic systems and worldbuilding from the chosen book. I recommend Mistborn to start when it come to Brandon (as most people would). You can really start anywhere, but the cool thing about Brandon is he makes references to his other works in later books. The Stormlight Archive and some of his latest books like Tress of Emerald Sea are full of fun easter eggs. Do you like bagels? If so what kind? (Don't take the cookie).

      Yeah.

It's definitely not a bad series, just tropey.

Nothing wrong with tropes if you do then right.

But there is much out there that's better than Eragon.

      Slowswift

@The Bookwyrm Cruel to Percy Jackson. PJO holds up, imho, while Eragon doesn't.

Also, most things are derivative, it's just about how skilled you are in the retelling. (If you think Tolkien or Lucas were wholly original, you've got another thing coming.)

  19. Okay!! I just know you've been busy with life stuff here and there.
  20. The entire beast trembles, and a few more chunks fall down. It's little more then a caving-in skeleton at this point. Kurtis slams his blade down on another one of it's limbs, and it breaks off. "It's almost done I'd think!"
  21. Eddie do you need help running things? I worry that your overwhelmed without help.
  22. Ooooh that's an interesting thought! I've never used glue to block out areas, just tape. Thanks for your thoughts!
  23. We're about to start working on the climax and resolution, so yeah it's ending. I think Eddie said she wanted to finish things by the end of August. It will hopefully be more active now that we're pushing the conflict a little. Currently though, undecided on exactly how to end it. After it's done, there might be a small break, and then signups for the next one should open.
