  1. I'm writing for one of my college classes. We're basically supposed to discover what we want to do with ourselves (career-wise). I've been debating whether to do self-publishing and do writing as a "side-gig" or to focus more on it. This essay on self-publishing versus traditional is supposed to help with that decision. It's a persuasive paper of sorts, so my thesis is basically, "self-publishing is a better option for me" generalized to "self-publishing is a better option for people who don't want to focus entirely on writing because of risks...etc". It's a little bit of an odd essay.
  2. Those are some valid thoughts, thanks.
  3. I kind of agree with that, though. It was a bit of 'torture' sometimes (the 3-hour church); though not really. I understand that it was changed for potentially good reason. I do think that the whole advantage of being able to go to whatever church anywhere in the world when you're travelling and knowing what will be talked about is weakened when it is relief society/elder's quorum, due to not knowing what talk will be discussed specifically.
  4. Yeah, they've been great. How does everyone feel about the change coming in September to the 2nd hour on Sundays? I don't know if it was talked about, but I'm so ready for it. We've been translating Joshua 24 in my Hebrew class and I was bummed to miss it this last Sunday for Come, Follow Me.
  5. That definitely helps, thanks. I'll look into that book and some articles/interviews. I was trying to think of self-published books that I've heard of without just Googling it, and forgot about Dungeon Crawler Carl. I agree that I probably should have put a third option for my last question, or change the question.
  6. I'm doing some research for a class and the subject is traditional versus self-publishing. I wanted to have a topic about it and see what some thoughts are from people who may have personal experience with it. I've seen some of the basic ideas for why traditional publishing works better for some and self-publishing for others, but I want to see if anyone here had any thoughts. I'm not sure how great the poll is I made, but any insight you have would be welcome.
  7. HYPE! English or Spanish? (Or something else).
  8. Listen to some Missionary Brief on YT. It’s a new fantastic resource.
  9. True. I love Travis, but I also value different approaches. I’m not saying he’s perfect or *the* example to hold to, but him, Robert Boylan, Blake Ostler and some others have different methods and it’s fun/informative to see their different ways. (Those aren’t exactly all great examples because they’re all pretty blunt, but I’m sure you get what I mean. )
  10. Fetch ya. Love Travis Apologetics and discussions with people that missionaries are teaching. Some great methods of arguing intellectually. It’s mainly a YT thing. Also look up the Missionary Brief, a different sort of teaching video tool for those wanting to understand more. The guy (Travis) is LDS and through the videos he references a lot of fantastic sources you can look into if you’re interested.
  11. Idk. It was just because he said the Bible is the Word of God and Jesus is also the Word of God. Then I was like, wait, what the heck did you say? Did you say Jesus is the Bible? And he said yes. It was…weird. Biblical inerrancy and sola scriptura stuff drives me crazy.
  12. I had a similar thing where a dude straight up said Jesus was the Bible because of John 1:1.
  13. I'll have to watch it and ask a few people about their thoughts on some groups I'm a part of.
  14. Hey everyone, it's been a fat minute. I'm not sure how much I'll get back into this because I'll be pretty busy, but I am still alive, LOL. I had a great time and I'm getting back to normal life. Hope you all are doing great!
