Aren't the Unmade extensions of Odium's power as his splinters in the same way that the Stormfather and other spren are splinters of Honor and Cultivation? I phrased my question as "had/has". Just because he never left it behind, doesn't mean that it wasn't present at any point. the Koloss blood rage seemed out of proportion to me even with hemalurgy in the mix on my first readings of the Mistborn trilogy. Harmony has calmed most of the bloodrage in "fixing" the Koloss as an independent race, but maybe Odium's withdrew his power as Harmony ascended so Sazed couldn't find traces of him? So therefore, the Koloss would have calmed down immensely even without Sazed's intervention. Odium hasn't been able to travel to other planets and shatter Shards since Sel (that we know of), but he is able to get people on other planets to use his magic system per the WoB that you quoted Moogle and Brandon's response was "he's been active everywhere", that would mean that at some point in Scadrial's history someone has used Odium magic. Doesn't mean it was the Koloss necessarily, or when he was powering it, but it happened per that quote, so why not the Koloss?
-
i would think that his activity to a planet is probably short lived so he doesn't invest too much of himself on a planet, otherwise he'd be super weak compared to other Shards who are only invested on one planet at a time. So basically we know that he's been everywhere... I wonder when he was on Scadrial? Maybe the bloodrage of Koloss had/has something to do with Odium's influence?

It's not necessarily a theory killer, but re-reading Starfalls, both of the knights seem to leak Stormlight at different points, even when not surgebinding. If we assume it takes a fully bonded KR to create/bond/use Shardplate to full effect, then they should be 5 Oath Radiants and not leak any stormlight. The Windrunner is noted as having Stormlight leak from his eyes after they are done fiighting.
-
I don't have time to check right now, but in Dalinar's visions, I don't remember the Radiants themselves glowing. Their Shardplate, yes, Blade, yes, when they arrive falling out of the sky using Stormlight, yes. But once they are on the ground, I don't recall glowing or Stormlight leaking from them. if So, that would kind of confirm this thought or theory.

Some of the things that TLR did might be possible for a plain 'ol Mistborn... using soothing and Tin to be a lie detector for instance.

How many Kholin Radiants is too many?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Fifth's topic in Stormlight Archive
As to the Elsecallers being solely scholarly, I think Jasnah's demonstration to Shallan in tWoK argues pretty heavily against that idea. She laid waste to 5-6 robber ruffians in a matter of seconds with her Soulcasting. The Truthwatchers are to me the hardest to reconcile with combat... but who knows, when Renarin develops in his powers a bit he may be the most deadly given his ability to see the future combined with massive healing, enhanced speed and agility from Stormlight... What after all made Atium so powerful? The ability to see your opponents actions and react to them supernaturally fast. -
I'm... trying to decide if you're serious or not here, but I find this a hard theory to buy into. Either way, I've never thought that the Intelligence/Empathy thing is separate abilities. I've always assumed that for big T his empathy is naturally inversely proportionate to his intelligence. I feel like we don't know what his curse is per se, and I can't find a WoB to support the IQ being either the blessing or the curse. It may be both, but there is probably something else going on. Similar to Dalinar, is not being able to remember Shshshsh his blessing or his curse?

How many Kholin Radiants is too many?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Fifth's topic in Stormlight Archive
See this topic for similar discussions. I personally have no problem with the Kholin's becoming Radiants en masse or through marriage. I will say that I don't think Navani or Elhokar will end up becoming one. I'm tempted to say, "given an epic of this scope and scale, there will inevitably be betrayal from someone within the closest circle that will lead to all sorts of havoc, which in this case would be the Kholin family", but given that Brandon loves to turn fantasy tropes on their head, he may have considered that a trope which he wants to confound in the Stormlight Archive. That, though there may be incompetence's, on a whole the Kholin family is loyal, honorable, and will remain true to one another. IF that is the case, I think Navani will stay with fabrials and Elhokar will be learning to king better, though there are cases to be made for both of them. IF Brandon decides that is not a trope that he wants to play with, then I would say look out for Elhokar turning to the "dark side" for quick and easy power (a.k.a. Odium & Voidbinding) as he sees all those around him who were already "better" at what they do, become even greater through their use of Stormlight, and further outshine him. If this is the case, then we'll have a very dark period of the Stormlight Archive where Elhokar does take the power of the kingship in his hands, in a very Alethi manner, and turns the Alethi kingdom against the fledgling Knights Radiant, giving them yet another thing against which they must fight. -
This portrayal actually makes me think of Gaz, who we see has managed (so far and with some nudging) to turn his life and outlook around. Maybe Elohkar just needs Shallan to sketch him a portrait... Tangent: As for the Kholin's and their lion share of talent/power... it is perhaps an interesting commentary on privilege begetting privilege, or rich get richer (over generations). Talented people tend to have talented children, if you then give them an environment to succeed, they will be more likely to do so. There may be a darkeyes in the army, who with proper training, could out duel Adolin, but we'll probably never see it (unless maybe Moash, who I still consider darkeyed).

Theory to explain Darkness's actions
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Andrew C's topic in Stormlight Archive
My last thought before going to sleep tonight...and the only one I can muster on this topic... Taln continued to be tortued following the Last Desolation even after the Recreance from what I understand. So unless Surgebinding causes additional torture, there is something missing here. -
Do we know where Adonalsium was Shattered?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to kaellok's topic in Cosmere Discussion
You mean, aside from the ability to create life, move planets in a solar system, flatten and raise mountain ranges? I would say that they definitely have the ability to affect the Physical Realm. I don't know if the Physical affects them per se, but it definitely has an impact on the way magics form based on the planet and the Shard in combination. -
Do we know where Adonalsium was Shattered?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to kaellok's topic in Cosmere Discussion
It's an in-world quote from WoR (I believe), when Shallan is doing research on Urithiru. So there is leeway there for it to not be the case. Regardless, it happened after the Shattering of Adolnasium because it was a Silver kingdom which existed post-"Final desolation", and the Desolations are Odium's forces vs. Honor's/Cultivation's therefore must be post Shattering. -
How did Szeth get to Urithiru?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to lookingglass's topic in Stormlight Archive
I agree that he knows of Urithiru because the Shin are keeping secrets from the rest of Roshar (except the secret organizations, those guys all seem to know lots of secrets too). -
Why is Vasher's name a "joke on his part" according to Denth?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to Atreides's topic in Warbreaker
I've been trying to put something together to figure this out, but I also have nothing and had never really noticed that part. May need to add it to the Ultimate list of questions for Brandon! -
Let's talk about Nightblood and other such swords

Dies Szeth care about evil though? "Law above all else" is one of their ideals, much more LN than LG -

It remains to be seen if the HIghspren are actually working with Nale and his "skybreakers" in the modern era. Though I suppose we will fairly soon in Stones Unhallowed. This thread makes me wonder if Hoid, in the Epilogue of WoR, is having a conversation with the Rosharian ecosystem, or is actually having a telepathic conversation with his awakened sword...? Hmm... I just re-read the section and there is nothing to indicate that he is actually speaking to the animals. He may have figured a way to use Stormlight to power Awakening here so he didn't need to work on getting the 1000 breaths necessary. -
On my phone right now so I can't check, but isn't there a WoB that says the Nightblood is "corrupting" the investiture he draws out of his wielder? Might be in the annotations... I assume when he has fully consumed the investiture from a person, he goes dormant after that person is dead...
-
Would nightblood's "burning"/corrupting investiture count as decay of that investiture?
-
Here's a link to the WoB database search I did for "wax" and "earring" over at Theoryland (WoT originally): http://www.theoryland.com/intvsresults.php?kw=wax+earring It does retain a slight hemalurgic charge, and it was/is a piece of a large spike that was at one time used to kill someone. I agree that at a certain point it reaches the "bare minimum" charge, i can't find a WoB on that specifically, but i feel like there is one floating around somewhere.
-
The "God Beyond"? I think even Hoid mentions that being... But who/what that ends up being is still very unclear and speculative.
-
Well there is the "force opposed to Adonalsium" and also the "God beyond" that are potential set ups for something beyond Odium in scope and power. They may not be villainous per se, but by their intents and actions, they need to be opposed by the heroes.
-
Interesting thoughts... thank you for posting them. Have an upvote! I like this idea of base spren that are touched by the emissary becoming the "upgrade" version of either Nahel or Void. I don't know if I fully agree, since that would mean that there is no Ideal of honor in the cognitive realm to generate a spren on its own, it needed help, which I don't think I agree with, but it does explain the similarities between Syl and regular windspren, and the windspren's affinity for Syl and Kaladin as he rides the winds.

How did Szeth get to Urithiru?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to lookingglass's topic in Stormlight Archive
The new shatters in the Shattered Plains are from the Highstorm and the Everstorm meeting and adding their strength together. I mentions when they meet that boulders were being tossed about all over the place and there is even a scene with Szeth and Kaladin windrunning around the top of a plateau that is hurtling through the air in their battle. It has nothing to do with the Oathgate activating. -
I kind of actually assume that the champion thing will happen in this 5 book arch and the "remove Odium" in the overall 10 book. Problem is... there is still the power of the shard, which someone could pick up, or probably even worse if left alone long enough will gain sentience on its own. You'd have to combine Odium with another shard to mute it's "hate" intent somewhat. Like how Ruin was muted by coming with Preservation. Odium would need to combine with a near opposite to really neuter. Also Reya is not cultivation, sorry. I got confirmation from Brandon and posted here

What makes Ryshadium special?
Green Hoodie Mistborn replied to JamHeretic's topic in Stormlight Archive
I think that portion is jsut after what I quoted above in WoR:
