okay so i have a predicament
i'm currently outlining my first book in Harlow
and it's WAY more romance-heavy than the rest of the series
like the main series is basically about war and genocide and the apocalypse
but the main character gets involved in the whole thing because of a whole romance that happens
BUT
i feel like if i marketed the first book as the first book, readers might be like "oh this is a romance series" (spoiler alert, it's NOT)
but what if i marketed it as a prequel? do you think that would kinda change the way the series is regarded? cuz like i don't want people to think the whole series is only romance
the first book is just very romance-heavy because that's just the antagonists' original plan is through a romance cuz like
love
but yeah the rest of the series mainly focuses on hadley tryna save her people and then eventually everyone else trying to save each other and the apocalypse and fire and wahahahaha

so we just got lightning
that lit up the sky like it was day
and then thunder that shook my entire house
we were in a tornado warning a little bit ago, but then they canceled it, then issued a severe thunderstorm warning, and then were saying that there’s a high possibility for another tornado warning
and i agree
my brother’s workplace closed down early and my dad’s on his way to get him (please pray for him to stay safe!! i don’t know what i’d do if anything happened to my dad) and won’t be back for a while so
also had a choir concert
which is when we got the tornado warning
and people were like
”GeT iN sHeLtEr” and i hung my robe up and hightailed it outta there
(i live maybe a two minute drive away from my house)
so that was interesting
and now i’m eating cereal for dinner

in other news, @Dead's birthday is on the 17th, so i'm working on something to give to him (shush, I know he can see these, but he like, never checks them)
also did you know that Monster has coffee?? I already knew, but I forgot it existed until Saturday when I saw them at the store.
My main Spotify playlist is starting to get boring because it never plays as an actual shuffle, and I don't have smart shuffle on, it's just regular shuffle.
My current song obsession is Twenty One Pilots' newest release, Backslide. I got my grandma to play it in the car on Friday when we went out to eat for my brother's birthday and I sang the entire thing.
Speaking of which, my brother is 22 (I think. he might be 23) years old now! We went to Arby's on Friday for his birthday dinner even though his birthday is on Star Wars Day (epic)
@InfiniteInsanity, @TheGreatSnail, and @The Bookwyrm are telling me that I drink too much caffeine, but I don't drink like, 3 cans every day. I'm not addicted. I can easily skip a day or so of drinking, I literally drink them because I like the flavor. I'm not being sarcastic, and I'm not denying or anything. If I'm addicted to anything, it's the flavor, not the caffeine bit. I promise. And I only drink like a can a day.
I usually drink Mt. Dew, Monster, Kickstart, and Dr. Pepper. I promise i'll be okay y'all.anyway, hi guys! how are y'all?

And I respect your opinion. I'm not saying you're wrong, because you're not, and you make really good points with the flavor packets.
I know y'all worry about me and Snail, and I'm gonna work on lowering or even getting rid of my caffeine intake. ❤

I haven't had any caffeine today. All i've dranken- drinked? drunk? - the only liquid i've consumed today so far has been water and a tiny thing of strawberry banana V-8 juice for my meds.
and when I had the three cans in my lunch box, I only drank one of those that day, Dead had the other Mt. Dew, and the Kickstart went in my fridge.
Dead buys me Kickstarts in the mornings but I don't really ask unless it's during lunch but I still don't usually drink them because they get warm by the time I want them, so they just end up going in my fridge at home.

I hate that using shuffle on Spotify isn't actually a true shuffle
it just plays songs you've recently listened to or artists you've recently listened to and then throws in some other songs into the mix
like it's not even a true shuffle and it bothers me

smart shuffle is the one where it adds songs that aren't already on the playlist, yes?

The bard sets aside his lute and takes a long swig of alcohol from a clay mug, setting it down on a weathered, wobbly stool that matches his own. The tavern is alive with applause and chatter, illuminated by warm firelight. Somebody calls out, asking where did the song come from, and the bard replies simply:
“Elysia.”
I have a good view of our entertainer from my seat at the counter. He’s old and crinkled with age, but that doesn’t stop him from looking alive. His dark brown eyes shine with resilience, bushy white eyebrows more expressive than I’ve ever seen, gravelly voice somehow more beautiful than that of a siren. The stool he sits on is old and creaky, one I assume he carries with him wherever he goes. Backed by the firelight, he has an aura of kindness and mystery.
He catches me looking at him and smiles, so I quickly turn away, staring at my hot drink. He’s probably thinking I’m too young to be here, wasting my earnings on spiked cider and hard bread. But he visits this tavern frequently, and I like to hear the songs he brings, especially the ones from Elysia. I never heard this one, even though I grew up there. It must be newer.
I consider myself to be some kind of lost bird if I’ve understood the song right.
Though they don’t know it yet, I’ve done everything to protect them.
That was always my job. I was never going to be queen. I was never going to lead armies. I was never going to be great, remembered, fearless.
I was never going to have what I wanted. But that was okay, because I could keep them safe.
I always knew I would protect them.
So here I sit in a tavern on break, tapping my own clay mug with my fingernails.
Clink, clink, clink.
Here I sit with knives strapped to my belts and inside my boots, poisonous vials in my satchel, death carved in between the letters of my name, syncopated to the beats of my heart.
I have become the kind of dangerous nobody sees, the kind nobody expects. No man would expect a girl like me to pull a dagger from the waistband of her skirt and have him dead in a moment.
No man would expect a highborn to be a monster.
But if I let it all go and be the person my world needs me to be, it will fall apart.
Emptying my cup, I shake off my thoughts and push the mug towards the bartender. He fills it back up and adds its price to my final bill; nothing I can’t pay for.
The bard leisurely picks up his lute once more, clearing his throat and carrying on to the second verse. I rest my head on my arms, feeling lonely, and listen.
“When the sky burns red, bleeding crimson tears
Blue flames will flow across the earth, and when the grey smoke clears
Purple will be the color that scrapes against the skies
Dancing across our deathbeds and relishing our demise…”

I've been listening to the newest release on repeat for about 3 days now sooooo I fricking live it
at first I didn't really like Next Semester all that much but it's started to grow on me so I really like the new theme they've got going on
