Sketches on the Bus, Because Syn Gets Bored Easily
Coolmint replied to Mystic Syn's topic in Creator's Corner
@Mystic Syn, your eyes, expressions, and fluidity are magnificent. And I was once an illustrator. I love seeing your guidelines. And I just fell in love with your dark-hair-red sweater-glasses fella. -
Hope so! I only have one full size Pro Gear: a limited edition, Black Velvet. Sparkly! On the other hand, I have a few Slims (AKA Sapporo), like the seasonal ones they had featured a while back. This enables my craze for matching pen with ink.

Cool. I also have a Lamy 2000 (EF), and I'm lucky enough to have gotten some original TRP a few years ago. I use it sparingly!

Having a Bad Day?: Get 'yer Hugs here!!
Coolmint replied to Curious Anamaximder's topic in General Discussion
@Draginon, I'm sorry for your loss. My condolences, and I hope you find a good resolution. @Spren of Kindness, sorry to hear that, too. My best friend of many, many years just informed me yesterday she may not have much longer. Very sudden, and I'm in shock. -
You may think me nuts, but creosote. It reminds me of childhood trips to the beach and boardwalk, when life seemed much less complicated and sad.

I just started the Rithmatist, and Alcatraz vs. The Evil Librarians. I have a thing for Young Adult fiction.

Yay! I dreamed about fountain pens last night. (NOT the dream): I used to collect the Lamy Safari LE colors, then said Enough, and quit. But when Lamy had a sort of re-issue of two coveted colors, Terra Cotta and Savannah, I bought them both (original editions cost hundreds). The nibs were awful. My earlier Safaris were all very pleasant writers, so to experiment, I bought some Jinhao and NoNami Chinese pens that resemble Safaris. They all wrote well, if a bit feedbacky, out of the box. My Safari elders write better. I don't know where their quality control went of late.

Thanks, Morningtide!

I might be old enough to be everyone's mommy but really I'm still 11 within.

I'm reading The Stormlight Archive for the first time

Sorry. I came in at the end. -
Well, I just started reading Alcatraz vs. The Evil Librarians. So maybe I really am 11 after all.

It's also quite common in Catholicism. -
Uh-oh. Since many of you on this forum write (and very well, from what I've seen), I thought I should mention this incident. Yesterday I got a phone message from someone who said she wanted to re-publish my 2003 chapbook. The recording was from a person with such a heavy accent, and the background chatter (from the call center) so overwhelming, I had to play the recording three times to understand what she was saying, or the name of the 'company.' And it was a lonnnng message. The caller said my book was also connected with another company I had never heard of, much less signed up with. The caller went on and on and on about this 'opportunity.' They must be desperate and phoning anyone who ever published anything. The press that published my chapbook is defunct. And I sold maybe three of them (mainly by begging friends and family). Scam alert.

Millions. But of Brandon's? Just started Elantris. And thanks, I found where to load a pic!

What is your favorite fountain pen? Fountain pen Ink? Paper?
-
I can probably fix that…. I just remembered more series I have watched: Dragonball Z and some of its movies. Inu Yasha and some of its movies. The seemingly-endless Prince of Tennis and some of its movies. Hmmm. There is some kind of theme here… Yes, I am very old school.

Thank you! I figured out how to 'like' a post, too. Say, is there any kind of FAQ thread that tells you when you can have an avatar and such?
-
Very attractive pens! Thanks for the link. By the way, I always got Ravenclaw in every test I took.
-
Yay! (…see, this is why I like demonstrators….). By the way, what brand and model of pen was this?

I always thought of Bombadil as Man before the fall. He names the animals, and is alone not tempted by the Ring. Love the Lord of the Rings trilogy AND The Hobbit. Sam just might be my favorite: a common sense hobbit who had the humility to realize the Ring was not for him. Not that he wasn't tempted! (Hated what the movies did to Faramir, who was also wise enough to Leave The Bad Thing Alone). If you're looking for Christian symbols, Sam also stood in for Simon of Cyrene.

Fell in love with the books as a kid. Mixed feelings about the films. Am I in? -

Studio Ghibli Fanfolks!
Coolmint replied to Channelknight Fadran's topic in Entertainment Discussion
How can I POSSIBLY name a favorite when I love just about all of them? Mononoke Hime was my first. Then Spirited Away…ooo, and we got to watch Howl in a movie theater in Japanese with subtitles! Love Porco Rosso…et cetera and so on ad infinitum. I bought copies of just about the entire catalog. Except Earwig. Which did not sound appealing. I now watch them all subtitled.
