  1. Quantumplation (paraphrased) I haven't read Way of Kings yet, but I've read Warbreaker and Mistborn, and the thing I like most about them is the Magic systems. Will Way of Kings have multiple magic systems? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) Depending on how you count it, Stormlight Archive will have 3 or 30 different magic systems. Footnote: Part of me wants to say he said "3, 10, or 30 different magic systems", but I can't remember for sure. Towers of Midnight Cambridge signing (Nov. 7, 2010) As we see in this WoB (even though it is quite old, from 2010), there are like three main groups. My theory is that there are ten Surges, from Surgebinding, plus nine, from voidbinding, and the other eleven I don't know if it is a Cultivation-based magic system with eleven magics (if we think 11 is the number associated with Cultivation), or just various things, like certain spren thingies, fabrials, the fishes from purelake, etc.
  2. Basically yes, I think so. But of course shardplates are something more than just an Invested armour, they are "dead" spren. This means that the regenerating property of the plate (I mean that the plate reforms when absorbing Stormlight) comes from the fact that one can never permakill a spren through normal means (which begs the question, can you destroy a Shardplate with antiinvestiture?) Maybe the reason reason a Shardplate increases physical strength is because it channels the Stormlight to create extra force. So in the hypothetical case one could make an armour that increases physical attributes via Awakening, it would be the same case, the Investiture aiding in doing so.
  3. I don't think they sever Connection at all. What is at work when a Shardblade cuts a living thing, is that it severs the souls directly, not Connection. Now, as we saw with The Lopen's arm, if you still have the arm in your Cognitive Aspect (if you still see yourself as having the arm), you can even regrow it. So maybe what happens when you Heal a severed-by-Shardblade limb is that you are only regenerating the spirit, as you already have the physical arm. About Invested materials stopping Shardblades, I think it depends. A Invested block of metal, like a metalmind will resist the Shardblade with a force that is proportional to how much Investiture it holds. Then, when talking about a shirt hardened by a Stoneward, I think for one part it will resist part of the magical part of the Shardblade (again, proportional to how much Investiture you use), but then it will also stop the physical part of the cut, as the shirt itself has been hardened by manipulating the axial force. This is so because of how Shardblades cut; they transform part of the matter they cut into Investiture. So we can guess that to stop a Shardblade we need two components: Investiture to stop the Spiritual part, and a material hard enough to stop the Physical part. So, to cut that shirt with a Shardblade you would need to syphon the Investiture that holds the axions together (only if it has too much, if not you can slice through it normally with a Shardblade).
  4. While it may be true, I am not fully convinced, as in the Way of Kings he says he isn't a Herald or a Radiant. Knowing him, it could mean he wasn't one at the moment. We know that Taln wasn't meant to be a Herald when they were being chosen. You also have a point with the torture, maybe it was not a thing until some time passed, but by the nature of the Oathpact I think that trying to break the Heralds was known by Odium and Honor (it is a pact between two Shards, all the conditions would be stated, I think).
  5. We assume that silver has to be doing something to permakill spren, Heralds, Fused and the like. But we perhaps have to discard the idea that it has to be infused with some Investiture for it to work. Taking the WoBs into account, it seems that Silver has anti-Investiture qualities (not anti as in aislant like aluminum, but a more destructive way). Maybe it has to be vibrating to the anti-Rythm of the Investiture we want to destroy?
  6. I don't think eating food from a certain culture would allow Lift to become a user of the Invested Art of that culture, if that is what you are saying. Still, it would be fun to see her become a feruchemist, or only a bendalloy ferring, so she could store the calories, and thus her Lifelight.
  7. I think it is very likely, yes. Perhaps the perception others have of a Cognitive Shadow messes with the Identity of said Shadow, and reinforcing it via forcing yourself to be more like the old you helps with it. That way, as you said, someone who has limited their entire self to one aspect will see their decay much faster (this is taken up to eleven with Lezian, who adopted the Pursuer persona after becoming a Cognitive Shadow, speeding up the process).
  8. We can also point out how Kalak behaved in the prelude before abandoning the Oathpact (paranoid, but not as much as in the present time). Taking that into account, along with Vasher's divine Breath, maybe we can assume that having a certain level of Investiture shields you from being so affected by perception. Kind of like how a Nahel bond protects a Radiant soulcasting from suffering the "mutations" a normal person would suffer from using a Soulcaster fabrial.
  9. To function, Hemalurgy needs two beings with blood, because of the conection of blood with the Spiritual Realm (or something along those lines, but blood is necessary). Still, if someone knew what they were doing, they could probably spike a Shade.
  10. I think that if we tried to resurrect a Shade via hemalurgy, it would not be a good idea. I mean, you are basically forcing a (more or less) corrupted ghost inside a body. I don't know if the body would help the Shade to return to its original Identity and self. If we talk about putting a Shade inside a Lifeless, I see two options: One, the Shade and the Breath don't mix up, and they act separately (like the Shade trying to overrun the Lifeless' comands) or two, they do mix, and the body is now in control of the body, with influence (perhaps Identity or just personality) of the Breath and the body.
  11. No, I think we don't have confirmation for it, but I believe (no proof) that it is just a random name.
  12. There is a WoB somewhere stating that Thaidakar didn't translate to Survivor, which would be better, I think. I don't know to which extent the Spiritual Realm could be tricked with translations. Here is the WoB: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/498/#e15728
  13. It is likely that an attack from the Cognitive Realm would be fatal, but there is a way a Fullborn could stop it. With Nicrosil compounding, one could probably make themself so Invested all soulcasting attempts would be futile. Maybe with nicrosil compounding a fullborn could also create a perpendicularity due to all the Investiture created? That way they could attack the Radiant directly. Also, I think it was said somewhere that if a person destroyed a Radiant's brain fast enough, they would not be able to regenerate, but I could be misremembering.
  14. Right, right, and perhaps that is why Thaidakar is now known as Thaidakar instead of his original name. Maybe this way he can prevent those cognitive effects that would arise from having religions based around him. And that is also why he is so secretive with the Ghostbloods. I think not many people know him as the leader, personally or not.
  15. If we follow the theory that when a Radiant reaches the 5th ideal, their soul fuses with their spren, maybe it wouldn't be necessary to persist any other way? First, that reminds me of a certain anime. Second, she has already done so in Oathbringer, I think, when she disguised herself as Veil when she was with her squires.
