Gone crawled* back to his room, toast with syrup on it in his mouth. Along the way, he saw the same group of people he'd seen before. "Hi," he said timidly. "Um... what are you all doing?"

There is something to that? But the thing that's referring to is by no means the only thing about the ending that's incredible. And if it had been, I'd still recommend you read it!

Well, that's certainly similar to the letter in WoK. That can't be a coincidence, those phrases are far too unique to be accidentally similar. I know nothing of Game of Thrones, but that's definitely a nod.

Gone reluctantly stood up and accepted the key. "Where's the room?"

"I don't really want to go." Gone said. "But... can I get a room? If that's what's most convenient for you?"

Gone frowns. "What am I supposed to do? Where do you want me to go, so I'm out of sight?"

Gone draws back, seeming shocked to see someone acknowledging him. "Hello." he says slowly and distrustfully.

A small boy bear-crawled in on all fours. He was dressed in rags--oddly brightly-colored rags, seeming less like rags and more like nice fabrics ripped up. Almost as though he was a prince trying to look like a peasant. He had dark, painful-looking bruises on his face, bruises that seemed like they'd warrant swelling, but his face looked completely normal save the discoloration.
