The island was still fairly large, but nowhere as massive as the starting island. A beach extended to the right and left, and a mass of foliage seemed to cover most of it. The trees obscured Aerol's path directly forward.

Still, nothing bothers her. Several small fish had swam up around the kayak in curiosity, but they didn't seem dangerous. Suddenly they scattered into the deep. Despite their sudden fear, nothing happened to Aerol. The journey to the small island was otherwise uneventful.

As Sharlin moved deeper into the jungle, the foliage overhead made the area around her darker. She ran into a few more streams running from deeper into the island. Nothing had attacked her yet, but there was an uneasy feeling around the whole area.

The ocean below the kayak was now a deep, dark blue. It was hard to see anything in the depths. To the west was the northern portion of the starting island, and far to the west was another large island. The island directly to the north was several times smaller than either of them.

The second one contains a change of clothes, a third knife, a little more food, and some basic fishing supplies.

Her attentiveness pays off, as a nest of deathants lies directly in the path she'd chosen. A single bite from one of them would kill her. If she continued to pay attention, she'd notice a freshwater stream coming from deeper in the jungle, running towards the ocean.

Forrest eyes the two of them. "Be patient. We're less than an hour in." @Ancient Elantrian There was a change of clothes that would camouflage better in the jungles of the arena, a small knife, medical supplies, and a few days worth of food.

A line of rough waves marked where the barrier reef separated the bay from the rest of the ocean.

Aerol stood near a blue plastic kayak, her eyes on Sharlin, who was on the far side of the island. Near him was a very sturdy orange kayak, with a pack of supplies on the front, a pair of oars, and a backup pair stored on the side. Various other supplies and weapons were scattered around.

A single speargun lies close to the silvery cornucopia, along with four or five extra spears. There are a few bows and crossbows scattered around, but that's the only gunpowder firearm. There's also a few sets of fishing gear. @Through The Living Glass

The cornucopia was surrounded by various supplies, including a few waterproof backpacks that looked like they were filled with supplies, several weapons, and three plastic kayaks. One of the kayaks had two sets of oars tied on, and a pack of supplies strapped to the top. @J. Magi

The water was warm and clear. Sharlin could see schools of fish swimming in the calm of the bay, and as she'd suspected, nothing immediately dangerous was visible.

The Hunger Games Chat Thread
The Bookwyrm replied to Through the Living Elan's topic in Hunger Games
I am The Lore Guy I'll do my best to keep mechanics mostly in line with canon but we are going to have to handwave some stuff, just because the source material is kind of limited. Sixth of the Dusk isn't very long.- 1319 replies

The Hunger Games Chat Thread
The Bookwyrm replied to Through the Living Elan's topic in Hunger Games
I read the Hunger Games series many, many years ago... I remember none of books two and three. I remember a little bit about book one because I re-read it a year or so ago. And yet I'm the one GMing this time...ah well.- 1319 replies

The tributes pods open up to reveal a beautiful scene. They're lined up on a slightly curved beach, with pristine white sand. Gentle blue waves wash against the shore in front of them. The beach gently curves around to encircle a beautiful bay, filled with pristine, clear water. Beyond the bay is a reef where the ocean gets choppier. Several islands can be seen in the distance. In the center of the clear bay is a smaller island; really just a sandbar, poking out of the gentle ripples. On the island stands the Cornucopia, laden with supplies, and even a few sturdy kayaks, colored brightly against the sand and water. The only way to get there is to swim. Behind the tributes lies a beautiful jungle, covered in greenery such as they've never seen back on the continent. Gigantic trees and vines and flowers cover the land, leading up to a slight mountain on the island's northern side. The calls of birds and creatures of all kinds can be heard coming from the jungle's depths. A morning mist is rolling over the island, creating streams of clouds that block the morning sun from time to time. Each tribute wears a simple orange jumpsuit, bright and vibrant in this world of greens and blues. They each have a shoulder pad for their chosen Aviar, whether it was provided to them for the games or a companion they brought with them. And, in an unprecedented gift, each tribute is given a simple outline map of the Arena, laminated and rolled into a pocket of their jumpsuit. A soft, masculine voice emanates from speakers the tributes can't see. They recognize it as the voice of Mr. Forrest, one of the GM's they met during the many ceremonies preceding the games. "Welcome, all, to the Dystopia's first annual Hunger Games. It is my honor to announce the start of this grand tradition, resurrected from ages long past, to unify and solidify this new government in a time of trial and change. "Tributes: the countdown will start momentarily. Once the gong sounds, you're on your own. I'd suggest making a plan; find ways to hide, survive in this unforgiving land, earn the favor of the Gamemakers and Sponsors. "Only one of you can make it out alive." A mechanical female voice began a countown, starting at 60. In the GM HQ, far from the arena, Mr. Forrest stepped back from the microphone. He turned to the other GMs, gathered around the monitors in the main room. "Well, my associates, it seems we're on our way." He smiled slightly, then turned back to the monitors, watching the tributes, seeing how they felt, what they did as the waited. This will be interesting indeed. Finally, the countdown neared the end. 5... 4... 3... 2... 1... A deafening gong sounded, echoing across the water. The games had begun.
