Time for random thoughts with Bookwyrm.
SpoilerWHY ARE THERE SO MANY RPS NOW
SpoilerAstute followers of my SUs will remember a large chunk of writing I put in a spoiler box detailing the tragedy of a man who fell to corruption after obtaining a powerful artifact that made him immortal.
His tale spans thousands of years and a whole star cluster.
Problem is, now I have a multi-millennia epic within a larger connected universe that also has an intricate history.
So yeah.
I've been trying to figure out some worldbuilding for it. Basically all I've come up with is "their magic is boring and comes from the sun(s)." But that's okay. I'll figure it out eventually.
I want to write a story somewhere in this scattering of worlds during this time period, but I have like, five separate eras with unique settings and situations that I could write stories in and I don't know which one to do.
I might rant about this more later and ask for suggestions.
SpoilerOh yeah, I've finally seen Jurassic Park now.
Spoiler...I probably only have a year left until my mission. Maybe less.
Spoiler....Actually I don't need to rant about this part to you guys. You deal with your own problems anyway. And it's not really that bad.
SpoilerGuys, be nice to people.
I started a Sociology class today with a teacher I know very well and only three other students that I range from kinda tangentially knowing to not knowing at all.
This class is sociology, so we're going to be talking a lot about "spicy" topics, I suppose you could say, questioning assumptions about society and wondering why we act the way we do.
I got called out for my religion within the first portion of this class.
Not in a bad way. He respectfully asked my permission, then proceeded to tell the other students about how I was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (he had to correct himself, but he got the name), but also remarked on how he'd noticed how I'd spent time trying to understand and respect other perspectives differing from my own. He noted that even with that attempt at understanding, that didn't make me any less devout to my faith, which is 100% true.
I could tell the respect he had that I'd been willing to listen to other perspectives. The school I go to has many people with plenty of views that generally differ from my own, considering my religious upbringing. But the people there still respect my faith and belief, even though they disagree with it, because I give them the same thing.
I know a lot of you are members of the same church, so this applies to you. But no matter what group you're from, what beliefs you have, that doesn't justify you treating those who disagree with you as garbage. Respect their views, and come to understand them, no matter how strongly you hold to your own. It stands out. People notice. When you respect their worldview, they'll respect yours, even if you disagree with them.
So yeah. Be nice.
Uh, I think that's all for now.
Maybe I should try to get active in the forums again.
