Speaking of which, here are some worlds/stories that I like, in no particular pattern or order (though this is probably in need of some updating):
    The Cosmere
    Avatar: The Last Airbender
    The Legend of Zelda
    The Xenoblade Chronicles series
Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead, and adjacent books
    Project Hail Mary
    The Remembrance of Earth's Past
    Dune
    Interstellar
    Arrival
    Inception
    Tenet
    Princess Mononoke
    Castle in the Sky
    Fullmetal Alchemist
    Star Wars
...And probably a bunch of others I'm forgetting. This list is not comprehensive.

  1. I wrote this for a school assignment, believe it or not.

It's built around a bunch of different worldbuilding ideas that are flying around my head right now.

    Very rough.

    But here it is.

    Spoiler

Did I ever tell you the story of King Eganir?

No? Oh. Well, on second thought, I suppose that makes sense. It was never really a story for one as young as you were. Not a very happy tale, his.

    You want to hear it?

    Hm…well, if you insist.

Long ago there was an ancient world by the name of Antia, of the sun Krenos. You know of Krenos, yes, and what you know of that bleak place probably tells you already that this isn’t going to end well.

Regardless, Antia was a beautiful world. It had deep, rich oceans, sprawling continents, towering mountains, lush forests, stark tundras, verdant plains, and bustling kingdoms. Greatest of these kingdoms was the Kingdom of Antia, which had long ago unified the people of Antia under a single banner, hence the uncreative name. All other nations pledged allegiance and subservience to the Kingdom, and the world was at peace.

Now, you’ll know of the Signants, I’ll assume. Weapons in an ancient conflict long forgotten, scattered across the worlds. Disregarded by many as legend. Well, Antia housed one of these eldritch items, capable of changing futures and cleaving reality. No one really knew where. Only that it was somewhere on the planet. This wasn’t all that important for quite a while, but you’ll want to keep it in mind.

Antia, being unified within itself and withholding prosperity for its people, was able to reach out to other worlds with hospitality and kindness. Most notably was the planet Ken’tir, a small, cold world also of the sun Krenos. The planet’s people struggled to survive, making their homes and lives in the molten caverns beneath the frozen surface of the planet. Whenever possible, Antia would reach out and help them in their eras of desperation. Though they served as the homes of different peoples, Antia and Ken’tir became siblings, sisters of the same sun, helping each other in times of need.

This prosperity and peace continued for many generations. Many  just rulers of Antia were born, reigned, and died, each carving their place in history and leaving a legacy to build upon. Since the unification of Antia (which you don’t need to know the details of) a total of twenty kings and queens sat on the throne.

    The twenty-first was King Eganir.

    This is his story.

That’s…quite the school assignment. I love it.
