Shower thoughts

Depends, how addicted are you to the internet? I sometimes do complicated math problems in the shower. -
Balance walked a few paces behind Demaren as they made their way through the streets filled with revelers and mourners. He hadn’t realized how many people had been affected by the Forgery, though he should have. He had seen the lines binding the souls of everyone and everything, but he hadn’t thought. He had not comprehended the far-reaching effects the removal of the Forgery would have, but he did now. “Balance,” Demaren said, startling him out of his thoughts. “I have some questions>” Balance thought for a moment before responding. “I will answer a question for a question, and I hope you will be as truthful as I have to be.” Demaren nodded in agreement, still stumping along with his one foot and his cane. “What is your real name?” he asked. Balance blinked, surprised by this question. “My birth name was Stateran. The english translation is Balance, and I have been using the translation almost since I began existing on Reckoners-Earth. I find that I prefer it.” Demaren nodded thoughtfully at this, and began to ask another question, but Balance beat him to the punch. “How did you know that some people were unmade by the Forgery?” he asked. Demaren grimaced. “My contact with an organization I do deals with for fabrial gems vanished the day the Forgery broke, and no-one can remember him existing outside of the Forgery. There are also several other stories I have heard from credible sources, but that is the main reason. How do your powers work?” “I’m not completely sure,” Balance replied slowly. “The lines I can manifest are lines of force, or the exact intersections between planes of force, depending on what I’m making. As I put more energy into my manifestation, it becomes more real, until you are left with an object that is as real as anything else, and I do not have to sustain it. Why do you distrust powerful people? Demaren’s face twisted into a smile that did not reach his eyes. “The Epics proved to me that it is extremely dangerous for individuals to have a great deal of power. Even the state of things before the Epics was proving that, with many corrupt politicians. Many people with power seem to have trouble remembering that they also have responsibilities.” Demaren gave Balance an appraising look. “You seem to be better than what I first thought of you.” Before Balance could react to this backhanded compliment, Demaren continued. “And here we are.” Demaren stopped in front of a building with a sign hanging above the entrance that said “The Metallurgic Emporium”. @Ashbringer

The Skiens spoke in unison. "This is not a cult. We are the Council of the Skiens, and we have a task for you. At the old stronghold of the Tribe of Storm, high in the Omlnd range, there is an ancient artifact of magic and guarding. It is called the Storm Chalice, because the workers of it were ridiculously proud of their tribe. That is the object which we task you to collect." @Shining Silhouette, @NerdyAarakocra, @Channelknight Fadran

"Just a moment" the Gemler said, moving to stand at the green section of the table. The Igneate moved and stood at the red and orange section. "It is time, brothers. Let us Convene!" they said together. There is a strange rushing sound, and the table begins to glow a breeze gusts from one tunnel, and a torrent of water bursts from another. Each takes on a humanoid form and positions itself at the table, grey for the wind and ice-blue for the water. There is a flash of light and darkness, and two more figures are standing at the table, one made of light at the blindingly white section, and the other made of shadows at the obsidian black section. @Shining Silhouette @Channelknight Fadran @Tani @NerdyAarakocra

Demaren looked up from the front desk as a figure in a dark blue cloak walked in. “I did not expect to see you again, not after you ran out. Even with the remaining motivator as incentive,” Demaren commented Balance’s golden eyes gleamed in the shadows of his cowl, which obscured the rest of his face. “I cannot lie, Technotic. My promises and oaths bind me tighter than any chains. What tasks do you have for me?” His voice buzzed faintly, but he hoped Demaren would not notice. Demaren pushed himself up from his seat with a grunt, somewhat disbelieving of Balance’s assertion of complete truthfulness. He tapped a pattern of the surface of the desk, and a hologram of his shop building was projected upwards, slowly rotating. “The removal of the Forgery caused unpredictable changes, resetting some repairs and constructions, and even completely removing people and materials from existence. Several load-bearing beams have nearly rotted through overnight, and at least two redundant supports have vanished.” Demaren grimaced. “Luckily, nothing has collapsed yet, but I need to replace them as soon as possible. I have the materials cut to size, but I am unable to install them. I did manage to remove the ceiling for easy access.” He gestured to the exposed ceiling beams above. Balance repressed a sigh and got to work, careful to hide his changed hand and face from Demaren. After issuing a few more instructions and observing Balance work for a moment, Demaren headed into his workshop, saying something about finishing a glove. It took several hours, but Balance enjoyed the work. The hard physical labor did not require much of his powers, except for the largest beams, and it allowed him to get lost in the work. Just as he finished putting the last support beam in, Demaren came out with a satisfied smile on his face. “I finished putting in the beams,” Balance said, dissipating the last of the wireframe constructs he had made to support the beams and house while he worked. “Good,” Demaren said absently as he examined Balance’s work. “I… What happened to you?” his eyes had strayed to Balance’s face, and he had seen the wireframe. He seemed fascinated, not horrified. Balance winced at the question, realizing belatedly that he had let his hood fall down as he worked. “I’m not sure,” he said hesitantly, his voice buzzing distinctly. “I believe it happened during what you called earlier the breaking of the Forgery, but I do not know anything beyond. It does seem to have expanded my capabilities with my powers.” He grimaced, for once irritated at his inability to lie. But this was partially why he had come, to get a more knowledgeable opinion about the strange condition he had. “My hand and part of my arm changed as well,” he continued, baring it to Demaren. Demaren’s eyes seemed to burst alight, and decades fell away from him. Balance recognized the light in Demaren’s eyes. It was a burning curiosity, akin to what he once had, what had driven him to explore and discover, to the detriment of millions. His eyes briefly clouded with tears, but Demaren was examining his hand and did not notice. “Interesting,” Demaren muttered as he poked at Balance’s hand. There was a resistance between the bright wireframe lines similar to what he had read about Rithmatic Lines of Forbiddance. “If I had to guess,” he said after a moment, “This is some form of savant. I’m far from an expert, mostly because I have not had time to study up on it, but I know of someone who is.” he smiled faintly. “I have to deliver something to them today anyway, so we can talk with them then.” He clumped into his workshop and grabbed a small package. “Let’s go,” he said as he maladroitly shut the door. Balance followed him silently, pulling up his hood and hiding his hand in his cloak.
