Huh, that's weird. When I click on the link it downloads a .docx file immediately, and the URL I get if I copy the link is nothing like what you have. Try a different browser maybe?

sh spoilers Khriss's **sh spoiler** is from Sel

Guns do appear in the graphic novel version as well. -
Maybe not the best example then. I don't think the images were a good idea when the behavior is easily replicable. Here, take a look for the default results when I search for "Brandon Sanderson". You can see that the search query turns into "Brandon+Sanderson", and if you expand the search options you can see that the "Contain all of my search term words" filter is selected; however (as of right now) the top result is this post (screenshot) - which does not appear to contain either word. Now, after checking the actual post out, I see that the search is fine - the phrase "Brandon Sanderson" does, in fact, appear in it, but the problem is with the search result preview. Manually correcting the search query to "Brandon Sanderson" (i.e. replacing the plus with a space) seems to fix the preview.

We don't actually know that. It's not even implied. The idea comes from a somewhat popular fan theory that Jezrien was the drunken "Have you seen me?" man Szeth passes by in Kholinar.

Oh, I forgot to update you guys. I asked about this, and I've got bad news - Brandon has put a few extra points in Uncanny Dodge, his replies are getting even shiftier than before: So, my money is still on Ingenuity being unconfirmed and non-canon.

[Theory] Taravangian's real way of saving mankind
Argent replied to Raysen_ht's topic in Stormlight Archive
I am very much aware of this, yes. However, the problem I see within the community is that "inworld knowledge can't always be trusted" is often used as a justification for headcanon. I agree that we can't always trust inworld lore, but when said lore is our only source of information - as is the case with the Nightwatcher's boons and curses - you can't doubt it unless you had a really good reason to (such as some inworld inconsistency that we are aware of but the the characters are not). -
On a different note, search seems broken? When I search for multiple words (e.g. Brandon Sanderson) the search query turns into Brandon+Sanderson - which leads to nonsensical results (i.e. results where, for some reason, sometimes neither word appears).

Eeehhh... I was only half serious there. On one hand, I wouldn't want to stop people from earning reputation, but on the other, it bothers me a little bit that a lot of people are earning tons of reputation from posts that are very... ephemeral. Forum games, "what are you <verb>ing", and the like. In theory, somebody who has never read Brandon could register an account and climb to the top of the reputation leaderboards - and that doesn't feel right to me. But it's not a big deal, it's just internet points. I just happen to like internet points...

Tor just announced several tiny hardcovers they will be releasing on October 3 - and Edgedancer is one of them. If you ever wanted a 4'' x 6'' (that's 10x15cm for those of you in the civilized world, or about 100x150mm if you have an unhealthy obsession with SI units) hardcover copy of this awesome novella, now - well, in 6 months - is the time to get it!

[Theory] Taravangian's real way of saving mankind
Argent replied to Raysen_ht's topic in Stormlight Archive
I went there once, I think, and got upset because people (in my eyes) were misinterpreting how the Nightwatcher works -
I wish only Brandon-related topics would count towards the reputation leaderboards

[Theory] Taravangian's real way of saving mankind
Argent replied to Raysen_ht's topic in Stormlight Archive
Several people mention her, but only Baxil and his... cousin? accomplice? colleague? friend? discuss the mechanics behind the boon and the curse. Dalinar says he knows what his boon and curse are, but doesn't discuss whether he got what he asked for. It is strongly suggested that Lift asked to never change (or something similar), and nothing we've seen from her points to her getting this wish (as either boon or curse). This being said, I seem to be the only person who insists that we don't know how the Nightwatcher works, so I'd be interested in finding out what it is that I've been missing all this time. -
What about the Voidspren and Renarin
Argent replied to Mileswasbestcharacter's topic in Stormlight Archive
Does she? It sounds to me more like she sees the present, just a more expanded version of it. Her words sound like the words of someone who is aware of more things ("he comes", "he is still here"), not necessarily of someone who sees the future (in which case she might've said something like "he'll come tonight").- 68 replies

[Theory] Taravangian's real way of saving mankind
Argent replied to Raysen_ht's topic in Stormlight Archive
How do you know this? The one thing we know for certain is that she gives you a curse and a boon. The only discussion on how she makes her decision comes from Baxil's interlude in The Way of Kings, and the takeaway from that chapter is that you can ask for whatever you want, but she'll give you whatever she feels you deserve. -
Marasi makes the Trell connection, but doesn't give a name to the metal. There are metals that are pretty soft at room temperature, and they can be molded by hand, but I agree with your general idea - I don't think soulstone is metal, and the spikes definitely are.

Why do you believe that soulstone is the same material as Bleeder's spikes?

Actually, we dubbed it so. The characters don't have a name for it, not yet. I am curious why you jumped to "soulstone = trellium" directly, however, instead of visiting what I think is the much more obvious explanation of soulstone's unusual properties - that it is Aona's and/or Skai's godmetal. It certainly fits the "souls of broken gods" phrase much better.

My interpretation runs along lines similar to Pagerunner's. Ingenuity also feels really weird for a Shard's intent.

Ayy, I am no longer Lord Ruler and have ascended even further - to the God of Colors! It's a pretty good promotion, the new apartment has a a view that's positively breathtaking!

This is the first time I hear about a Dreamer standalone too. There was another bundle sometime last year, and it had the same MAG resources (core, T:WoC, and AoL), I got mine then. I was hoping this one would have Skaa: Tin and Ash (which sounds rad, by the way), but no dice

Humble Bundle, one of the greatest things in the world, has a Brandon Sanderson book bundle up right now - and the value you can get out of it is insane! Not only do you get all of Brandon's novellas, you can also get the Graphic Audio releases of Elantris and Warbreaker, and The Hope of Elantris (which, as far as I know, didn't exist until today), and you can get some of the Mistborn Adventure Game (e)books. The entire bundle will cost you $15 USD, but you can get good value for $1 and for $8 as well. All in all, it's as good of a deal as you can find.

Hey there, fellow Chicagoan! I'd offer to meet up sometime, but I don't like people in general, so instead I'll offer to meet up next time Brandon shows up around these parts - which should be towards the end of the year
-
Here's a related brain teaser Brandon shared with us last year - if planets are spherical, but their Shadesmars are flat, how would one's journey around the equator look like in the Cognitive Realm?

It's only a problem if you stop. -
I am not sure if we have a WoB on this, but there has been a long-standing assumption that Roshar was created manually by Adonalsium - and the mathematical nature of its geography is a hint to that.
