As long as they are not burning pewter. I wonder how burning pewter and holding stormlight compare in terms of physical endurance they grant...

The Wheel of Time was definitely what delayed Words of Radiance, he has said so several times. I doubt he'll drop under two books per year (one big / Cosmere novel, one small / side project).

Interesting... I find the following of note: Interesting... Windrunners, Skybreakers, and Jasnah being in #7, sharing Transformation with Shallan. We should totally start bringing demo charts like this one to Brandon on signings What?

Theory: How Gavilar got the Evil Sphere of Doom
Argent replied to Lightflame's topic in Stormlight Archive
Did Gavilar see Cryptics in mirrors too? We know Elhokar did, and his sister (Navani) probably does as well (she recognizes the spren, but we don't have a hard confirmation that she sees them in mirrors, or even in the Physical Realm), so it's possible that Surgebinding has a hereditary component and they both got it from their father. But I don't actually remember anyone mentioning Gavilar talking about this stuff. -
Which Brandon Character Would You Date?
Argent replied to Chaos's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The hair is such a wonderful argument. -
The reason she is making try stuff to attract spren is because the Parshendi change forms (war, mating, etc) by forming some sorts of bonds with certain spren. I don't think we've seen specifics, but for the sake of example, attracting a passionspren or lovespren would allow a member of this race to change his or her form into mating. Eshonai - the Parshendi Shardbearer whose viewpoint we follow - has a sister who is researching the process behind changing forms. Eshonai believes that attracting artspren (?) will help her sister figure out what drives change. And once she has the process down, she has the potential to unlock a myriad of new forms - which Eshonai hopes will revive her people from the limited existence they now have.

Yea, that makes a lot of sense. I'm in the boat with you guys!

Sounds like I've missed - or forgotten - something. How is her kinship with Jezrien confirmation?

Which Brandon Character Would You Date?
Argent replied to Chaos's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Sarene is definitely an option for me, I like her personality. Unfortunately I am not the tallest of men and she is kind of on the tall side... But that aside I would have no problems with her. Shallan is still my #1 crush though :-) -
Scadrial magic doesn't involve illusions though.

Connection Between Allomancy and the Heralds/Surges...?
Argent replied to darkanimereal1's topic in Cosmere Discussion
That's definitely a part - but the fact that the Double Eye shows up in the Fabrials' stormlight patterns makes me think that it's more of an encompassing idea rather than a just a phenomenon shared between Surgebinding and Voidbringing. -
I don't know about the dark spren being (damnit, but this sounds better than "evil spren") Voidbringers. It's possible, I guess, but it feels like they should be human. Or Parshmen. Bad Parshmen.

The Way of Kings Ars Arcanum assigns the Divine Attributes just and confident to Nalan. It is possible that history could've misremembered his Honorblade as the Sword of Retribution (as opposed to the Sword of Justice for example). I like the idea, +1.

Connection Between Allomancy and the Heralds/Surges...?

As do we - but I still feel like we might be underestimating its significance. -

The Double Eye is the term you were look at up there. And I think it's about time we started paying really close attention to it, because I am getting a feeling its numerical and graphical significance will tell be even greater than that of the table of metals in Mistborn. I've got a theory churning in my mind, will organize and put it together sometime soon, I think... -
This would be interesting. My guess is that they won't turn into full shardworld novels or series, but we might see a novella or two (similar to The Emperor's Soul).

Hmm. I thought of the 'S' that appears on the cover. Superman's stretches the "normal" letter S, while the one on the cover (which could also be Steelheart's version) squishes it, so it appears taller.

Interesting. I will need to reread the book before I am any more certain of this, but my current gut feeling is that at least a few nations have gotten the Almighty / Honor and the Stormfather / Jezrien mixed up. After all, isn't the Almighty strictly a god of Vorinism? If we take Brandon's words "the concept of the Almighty on Roshar" to mean not Honor specifically, but "the one true god" or something like that, then any religion that believes in a single supreme god (different from Honor) will make the concept more confusing. Teft provides a clue: So the Makabaki have a supreme and singular god, which in some ways would make Jezrien their equivalent of the Almighty. I know it's not the best theory, but it kind of fits.

Not on the fact that Brandon said so?
-
Well, "Regent" was new... People usually misspell my username as "Agent"
-
Right, I kind of fixed that in my edit, @Windrunner. I feel so behind on my Cosmere lore, constantly typing stuff I half-remember, then going back and either finding out I was wrong, or having someone point it out to me...
-
Aww, way to poop on my party, Peter! But it's fine, good to know not to waste the organizers' time for 2014. Any idea when it would be too late - and too early - to talk to them? As in, how long have you guys known Brandon was full for next year, and then is his earliest appearance?

That's kind of what I was going for. If it's not a full blown Fabrial, then it could be the core, the engine of one. The actual black stone is the gem that holds the dark spren, and people with sufficient knowledge can attach that gem to... something... and turn that something into a Fabrial. It doesn't strike me as the heart of a Shardblade, though that's also a possibly. EDIT: After consulting with Navani's notebook, I think we have a few more options for what the black sphere could be (though I still find the Fabrial the most likely one). I don't think any of the others are true, but I'll list them for completeness' sake. First, it could be just a gem unknown to the Roshari (Rosharians? Rosharan?), cut into spherical shape. The dark light it seems to emit could be explained by the physical properties of the gem, combined with it being infused with stormlight (which causes gems to glow); unlikely, but possible. Second, it could be a Fabrial - the gem is again of unknown type (at least not one Szeth recognizes), and the captured (dark) spren causes the unnatural glow. Makes perfect sense to me. Whether it has been infused or not is irrelevant in this case, I think. Finally, it could actually be a machine - the sphere is bound by a chance, so in theory at least it could be some weird boomerang, or soul-eating garotte, or something... But this seems even less plausible than first option. The chain is most likely just for holding the storming thing.
