  1. Brandon has joked several times now that he would like to do a writing experiment with Pat where they take turns writing a few characters who compete against each other. Before the book is over, they would send it to George R. R. Martin, and he would decide who lives and who dies. It probably won't happen, but it's a fun idea.
  2. Well, not entirely Randless. What little you see of him should be interesting, and the ending is mostly his.
  3. Rithmatist #2 explores South America (which was mostly Mayan civilization, not so much Aztec - the latter were really in south North America), but if you read the transcript from The Silence Divine readings, you will notice that there are some Aztec elements there too.
  4. Thing is, they kind of do. Adolin matches Shallan's casual and jovial lighteyes persona, but Kaladin is a better match for her intellect. Words of Radiance Spoilers So there is some synergy there, and Brandon could make it work well if that's what he wants the books to do. He might lose a few originality points if he goes with the Shalladin ship, because of how many stories turn the main male and female protagonists into a couple, but I don't think the story itself will suffer for it.
  5. It's possible, I suppose, there is some kind of relationship between the greatshells of Roshar and (some of) the spren. But it's also possible that the Voidbringers are just what we see - listeners bonding with different voidspren - and the purple blood Kalak sees suggests that one of the voidforms can control (to one extent or another) greatshells.
  6. Time dilation and compression are possible on Scadrial because the magic - the Investiture - there allows it. It's possible that you can't affect time with surges because, for example, Honor himself couldn't affect time. Then again, there is some speculative evidence that the Truthwatchers are more of a Cultivation Order, so this could all be bonkers. But I wanted to note that just because something is possible on a given Shardworld doesn't mean that people will have the tools to make it happen.
  7. Many of us have been assuming so. An Allomantically powered machine.
  8. Hmm, interesting. Like so many other things, it makes sense in retrospect - because the god metals are so full of Investiture, you can't just create them out of something else, because that something else won't have the required Investiture. I bet you can Soulcast an atium bead into an atium alloy (+ some atium left) though. Might need to be powerful to do so, however, because atium will likely resist external Investiture the same way Shardplate would resist Allomancy.
  9. Well, anorexia for once (she is malnutritioned, according to Wyndle). Maybe binge eating, though this could be result of the former.
  10. Well, since Altered Perceptions is still being funded, there is no concrete information about it. But really, time is not important here.
  11. No clue. I did ask him for a higher resolution image of those glyphpairs - going to poke him in a day or two since he wanted to talk it over with Peter.
  12. Hmm, hmm... I must meditate upon this.
  13. Yea, if they are in order, it's a weird order. But I expect those will help in figuring out who is whom - since glyphs are not exact science, maybe any information lost in translation (transcription) can be earned back artistically.
  14. Stay tuned for the next exciting episode of Rep Hoarders, only on RepTV!
  15. So, not really a theory or anything (though I guess it could be translated into one), but... Dalinar has some symptoms that could link him to illusions of grandeur, bipolar disorders, and / or (megalo)mania Kaladin has (seasonal) depression Shallan is (self-) delusional Jasnah has trust issues, a mild persecution complex, and is potentially a sociopath and / or paranoiac Lift suffers from at least one eating disorder Renarin is on the autism spectrum Ym miight have a minor form of OCD (but I agree, this one is a bit of a stretch) There. It's out in the open now. I am not being serious here. Not entirely, at least.
  16. Yea, the Narak ones are the easy ones
  17. We use "Shardholders" when we have to refer to the people who pick up the Shards of Adonalsium. It's a term that exists in order to avoid ambiguity with Shardbearers on Roshar - who use Shardblades and Shardplates.
  18. Ah, right. I had forgotten about that. Brandon did confirm that the Long Trail is related to the cosmere, however - which might have been him wiggling out of the question (everything is related to the cosmere because it takes place inside it), but I didn't get that impression.
  19. Brandon has said - multiple times - that he likes to randomly RAFO questions every now and then, to keep people guessing about which RAFO is significant, and which one is random. In other words, so getting a "RAFO" doesn't turn into "This is correct / not correct, but you'll need to read and find out." The correct way to take a RAFO is to try to not assume anything. This being said, Brandon is more likely to answer plot-insignificant questions. Which makes sense.
  20. Well, if it makes you happier, I am not opposed to the idea that all magics existed on Yolen - I subscribe to the "Shardic Lenses" theory, or some form of it, so I believe that the Shattering of Adonalsium didn't introduce any new magic to the cosmere, it just made the already-present magic more... isolated, and in a way, focused.
  21. Uh, that's weird. It almost sounds like a wiring problem, not a modem / service one, but I am really not the right person for this.
  22. I don't necessarily agree (though I do see your point). The interpretation have been using is "In many ways, this [form of Lightweaving] is the most similar [illusion-based] ability to the original Yolish [Lightweaving] variant, which excites me." In other words, it sounded to me like the author is familiar with multiple versions of illusion-based magic (e.g. Aons, the Returned's* ability to change shape**, the Lightweaving surge), and this one - Rosharan Lightweaving - is the one closest to the original variant. * God Beyond, that's an atrocious way of saying this. Screw you, English. ** Though, to be fair, I don't consider this a valid "version of illusion-based magic." Yeah, I just references myself.
  23. It is. Scadrian Waffle Cook is almost as bad.
