  1. This is the entire chapter, yes. And yes, it's open for discussion.
  2. I just posted a thread about Brandon's talk at Google where he reads the Dalinar flashback he's been reading during every signing in the Shadows of Self tour, and now Tor has also released it, only in written form. You can read it here.
  3. So, Brandon apparently found time to go attend Google's Talks - kind of like their version of TED, but less "cool ideas" and more "cool people". If you've never been to one of his signings, this talk follows pretty much the same format. In fact, it is exactly like his other Shadows of Self events: Brandon talking about something (in this case his trip to Sharjah, the Korean writing system, and geek shaming) Q&A A reading - this is, in fact, Dalinar's flashback scene Brandon has been reading this tour, if you haven't been able to go to a signing, this is one place you can hear about how good ol' Dalinar became known as the Blackthorn. The reading starts at the 29.36 mark. Something new I found by watching the video is that the main character in Mistborn Era 2 is a female programmer working with a very early programming language in Scadrial, and she gets recruited to be a field agent. Which makes me super excited, as I am a programmer myself. [Video link]
  4. He said it was because the phrase captured the mood of the book well.
  5. I think we all go to pieces the first couple of times we meet Brandon
  6. I think this is consistent with what little we know.
  7. Returned - or at least Vasher, being experienced - can suppress their Divine Breath. It's still there, and they will still eat it if it's their only Breath, but it's not being expressed. So when Vasher gave his Breaths to Denth, he used another trick he knew, splitting his Breaths, and giving up only the regular ones he had acquired.
  8. What did you mean here? I think I know, but I want to be clear.
  9. I am genetically programmed to be interested in everything Jasnah.
  10. Heh, rookie. Still, it's interesting. Since he is Tanavast's cognitive shadow, this suggests that Tanavast himself wasn't all that Cosmere-aware. Maybe being a Shardholder means you don't get to keep all the knowledge you acquire pretty much instantly when you pick up a Shard.
  11. Not unless you mean 2017. December 2016 is the current goal, but that depends on whether Brandon can finish it in the next 6-8 months. If not, it'll probably be pushed for Q1-Q2 of 2017.
  12. Storm you, UK, you get all the juicy stuff.
  13. You can tell this thread is fishy because I was never nominated.
  14. I believe that's what he meant. Bavadin is Autonomy, "Survival" is not Invested, Autonomy is Invested, therefore Autonomy is not "Survival." Only the middle steps are not written out.
  15. I meant that you should provide it for Brandon.
  16. The general Q&A? I don't remember anything too interesting. I might give it a listen if nobody else wants to, but I don't expect anything needing a transcription.
  17. I think we can have a single book focus on one Radiant Order, but show flashbacks of somebody from another.
  18. I think you should provide a bit of context to this.
  19. This is the only mention. Brandon won't tell us more for now either.
  20. Okay, it's been about a week since I finished Shadows of Self, and I think I am finally ready to jump back into Pratchett. Thud! specifically. I think I'll finish the City Watch subseries and then maybe give Jim Butcher's The Aeronaut's Windlass.
  21. Because that would not be terrifying at all...
  22. I jumped in a few places in the audio, and it sounds like at least most of it is going to be transcribable. With some effort. But those questions. Man! It feels like we don't get as much juicy information in a 3 hour event as you did in those 3 questions!
  23. Comes with having the time to stay until after the entire event. A better man than me probably wouldn't harass Brandon like I do, but I am far too much of a knowledge addict not to justify taking 10-15 extra minutes of his time so that I can be giddy for days after.
  24. /u/link6112 asked him to "write some misinformation to watch some people obsess". Go tell them it worked on you
