Full Cosmere Restarted RP: PHASE 2
ChickenBonanza replied to KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren's topic in Roleplaying
Alaswha. Quite like certain parts of Yolen, in some ways. Humanity’s presence, for one, formulated in the familiar forms of cities and nations. Fainlife, however, was completely absent. A whole world, fully trune, lacking many of the creatures and magics of the homeworld. In exchange, it had some of its own. Investiture flowed through the air in patterns irreplicable anywhere else, pulled as they were by islands and mountains of floating rock which rejected the downward force of gravity in favor of their own suspension. Despite its influence upon the environment, the inhabitants of Alaswha had little ability to manipulate Investiture themselves. Thus far their access to the abilities of a god had been restricted. That was a possible opening, to be held in consideration for later. As a distraction began to grow. The beginnings of an intrusion. Mascarose focused his attention upon it. A Spiritual impression under the guise of familiarity, his own mortal face. “Why are you here?”- 521 replies

Full Cosmere Restarted RP: PHASE 2
ChickenBonanza replied to KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren's topic in Roleplaying
Could an aspect of God be foolish? An odd thought, for it was oft considered an aspect of man to see not the future with clarity. Some gods, however, mirrored well the follies of man. It was one thing to be driven by emotion, by hatred and vengeance, joy, misery. These things could bring one to the greatest of heights, so long as they were not ruled in totality by feeling. Longing drove men to thrones, but consideration won them. Grace Isilyar, for the first time in years, felt like she might lose control. She had drawn into herself emotion. All emotion, never slowing or ceasing, wanting always to be assuaged by immediate action. Anger was the strongest. The urge to lash out as she always wanted, to break each and every potential foe. That would not do. It seemed the aspect of emotion did not care in the slightest to regulate. Grace found herself in the Spiritual Realm, reading the great web that encompassed all worlds. Ignoring, completely, the churning maelstrom of power attached to her newly expanded soul. Go! Now! the fading voice of the dependent Shard whined. We must move! Grace had tutored and advised many, throughout her long life. Her guidance had seen to the rise of warlords, kings, and assassins alike. Grace had silently vowed vengeance for slights and betrayals, and never once failed to see a vendetta through. Her victories had never come by impulse. Why? Grace asked, separating, in part, the Intent of her power from her calculating mind. What is there to do? Confusion, it returned to her, as it struggled to muster an answer before discarding the idea completely. Anger pulsed through Grace once more, as if it could drive her to lash out so soon. Destroy! Wordlessly, Grace searched through the history of Yolen, and found quite swiftly just what she was looking for. Countless in number were those who had been brought low by passion unrestrained. Ah, Grace said, as if finally understanding. You mean like this? A despoiler, whose acts of violence and plundering brought fear and suffering to many nations. A military coalition placed his head on a spike. Or, perhaps, like this? An adulterer, who enjoyed the touch and company of any who caught his eye. Driven out of his hometown, after his many lovers caught on. A thief, who took an opportunity to betray his crew for a greater sum of wealth. The lone survivor found him and left his body to rot. Why, they acted just as you wish to, did they not? Grace asked, to which the power silenced. Do you wish to end up like them? Many of the others would take any excuse to kill me, and Shatter you as we did Adonalsium. Then, Grace would find a new thread of history. Following a young woman, scorned and doubted, as she cajoled, blackmailed, seduced, and murdered her way to ever greater positions of power and influence. You know me better than most, already, Grace thought. You’ve felt that which I’ve kept hidden. This is not what I had wanted from you, the power complained. Of course it is, Grace countered, peering deeper into the mind of the young woman she had once been. Anger, she felt. Envy. Never once did it cease, even as the woman smiled and bowed and scraped and lied. This is why you chose me. Because I understand these compulsions, and you do not. If you wish to elicit and act upon emotion, I shall teach you the proper way to do so. Like it was a petulant and ignorant child, Grace would lecture the infant aspect of God on everything she knew of emotion and its control, in the hopes that it might rise from a slavering beast into something nobler, to better embody its royal color of gold. If not, she could find many uses for a caged monster.- 521 replies

Full Cosmere Restarted RP: PHASE 2

It called to him. He resisted, for a moment. For Mascarose loathed the idea that he might be commanded by this power, which he himself had earned. Only when it stilled and acquiesced to quiet reprimand did he take it upon himself; his birthright. He stepped into it— And Ascended to godhood, becoming… What was he, now? A god, yes, but the mind Mascarose had not died. Changed, yes. Greater. He transcended the Realms, could see deeper into the Physical than any microkinetic, he understood implicitly the Cognitive greater than any Sho Del or dragon. He could see time. The Spiritual Realm was home to the echoes of all that was and would ever be. Mascarose watched. Watched himself. From the moment of his birth to the very moment of Adonalsium’s death. It hadn’t taken a moment. He was a god, then, for there was no other term to describe it. Of rule. Dominance and control, for that was what his power longed for, even now. Mascarose silenced it. Any god that cowed to base instinct—even divine in nature—were simply not. He would do as he wished, and for no reason more. Mascarose Sant Sommer, he decided. Eternally myself. He wished, for a moment, to look upon Yolen with mortal eyes, and he did. His own body floated precarious above the planet of his birth, dying. A waste, he once more reiterated to himself. A twinge of disappointment to lose a planet with such potential, and no other feeling, for such was beneath the dignity of a god. Mascarose turned from the monumental presences of his former companions and left, forever. Yolen was gone. Perhaps it would return, in altered form, but he had no interest in that. He would find something similarly suitable, soon enough.- 521 replies

I’d think Endowment’d be opalescent-like, yeah, from Breaths and the Tears of Edgli. I find myself hard pressed to decide on many of the others, beyond standard color association, I guess. (Like, Invention and Reason relate to intelligence, and intelligence relates to blue. Too uninspired an association to be making without due consideration, I think. Just going with personal preferences might make a nice array, which’d be neat.)

Gosh, I love when every star system lies within a 50 lightyear neighborhood. Mans does not want to leave even radioactive space dust floating around, smh. No more Cosmere, canon ending.

I looked at the appearance of Skaze and the Dor, of which I took most inspiration from the Skaze. Something vaguely dark, which sucked in light. The Dor is the opposite of this, seemingly, despite being half Dominion, being this bright luminous energy. I’d say that Dominion’s color is something of a silver, of a darker kind, and seems to pull in light, like the Skaze do. Pretty neat, I think.

Maybe it would look better, but would it better represent Virtuosity to lack the yellow which (theoretically) completes the printer toner trio? That is, if you subscribe to that theory. If not, than magenta and cyan would look way better than magenta/cyan/yellow.

Magic Systems For Full Cosmere Restart RP
ChickenBonanza replied to al_lan_mandragoran's topic in Roleplaying
Hmm. A crumbling world, or pieces of many, stitched together in a vague approximation of a planet, heavily warped by the Investiture of its pieces and the flavor of the Investiture used to repair it. Hmm, very cool, indeed. I’m unsure if Mascarose would be one to go through the effort and risk wasting it. But, perhaps Alph would be up for creating a Spiritual abomination of a planet.- 205 replies

Magic Systems For Full Cosmere Restart RP
ChickenBonanza replied to al_lan_mandragoran's topic in Roleplaying
I have had insidious thoughts, recently. My brain has become infected, after playing Final Fantasy IV. Of a world in-Cosmere wherein the life of the planet is sustained through Investiture flowing through the lens of four Light Crystals, being aligned to elements Wind, Water, Fire, Earth. (Maybe also four Dark Crystals, for a hypothetical underworld.) If the Crystals were to shatter, the phenomenon associated with each would begin to die and eventually cease. No wind, stagnant water and drought, burned out fires, poisoned and crumbling soil. Like what happens in Final Fantasy V (the only other installment I’ve beaten). There are other potential uses for Crystals, too. In IV, they power the Lunar Whale, the Tower/Giant of Babel, and Zemus’ prison. Any potential Invested Art would probably relate to the Job System, but that’s, like, way too RPG for the Cosmere, I think. I’m not going to pursue this, of course, but ‘twas a thought wriggling.- 205 replies

Got multiple schools of thought, I find myself draw to, in regards to Godmetal naming. End result, whatever sounds nicest wins. For Mascarose, I think Mascarosium is a tad long, but serviceable. Could shorten it to Mascarium. Or, even better: Rosium, because flowers are pretty. (Or Roseium, but a double vowel is clunky.) For Grace, I don’t know how good Gracium is. Probably use her last name. Isilium? Isilyarium?

Though Mascarose had precious little experience in the deciphering of rhythms, he understood Iairandeshi well enough. “Fine, then. Waste the effort.” With that, he would turn away and return to his silent vigil of Yolen’s destruction. -

Someone stood above her work, eyeing Iairandeshi with an odd, annoyed look. “A memorial?” Mascarose scoffed. “For what? Sentiment for what we killed purposefully? Hated, even. Yet not for Yolen, destroyed unjustly? A world gone, and you care for Adonalsium?” -

My interpretation of this would be that, generally, Intent cannot overpower general Investiture mechanics. Like, if an Autonomy made a Scadrial equivalent, a significant amount of their Investiture is going to be tied to the planet. Perhaps one could argue that their Intent would let Autonomy more easily escape such bindings, as the power would more readily perform such a task, but it wouldn’t make their Investiture immune to binding, inherently, I’d think. It’s still Investiture, the only thing changed about it is what it likes to do, by my reckoning. To clarify, it’s not that Intent should not play a large role in a Shard’s capabilities, but it would be more a consequence of… inherent skill? talent? on the Shard’s part. Like, I think Autonomy would be very resistant to being bound to a planet, because their Intent would resist it greatly and inherently. It would not grant its Investiture inherent properties (theoretically) not possible to achieve by other Shards. (Or, how Ruin would be incapable of creation on their own, but it’s not that their Investiture is unable to, but the Intent attached to their Investiture refuses to do so, to appear as if Ruin is incapable of it.) Though, this interpretation is probably taking too many liberties.

Full Cosmere Restarted RP: PHASE 1
ChickenBonanza replied to KaladinsSenseOfHumourSpren's topic in Roleplaying
“Not all would think of such things,” Grace shakes her head, sadly. A wan smile remains. “How magnanimous of you.” There is little commentary, from her, of further comment. Just the attentive listening of one who has done so for a very long time.
