  1. Venli's case is different because she has a full-on voidspren which makes her capable of using Voidlight. Her Radiant spren, Timbre, is a perfectly normal lightspren. Are Enlightened spren a type of voidspren? I'm not sure, but I don't think so.
  2. Aon Ashe is light, not Ado. There isn't an Aon Ado in the book.
  3. I want to note that these are powers Dalinar has displayed. Knights Radiant gain their powers from their spren; within each Order the powers are very similar because the spren are very similar, but each Bondsmith bonds a radically different spren from the others. What I'm trying to say is that Navani's powers may be different from Dalinar's.
  4. I just skimmed every Shallan chapter past her arrival at Sebarial's camp in WOR, and it seems my memory tricked me. Here's the passage, from Chapter 60: She does consciously suppress the glow later on, but in this case she was essentially plugging the Light directly into the illusion. This is an alternative explanation for what Jasnah did (which I am aware was already mentioned on this thread): she simply drew in the exact amount of Stormlight needed at the same time that she Soulcast, leaving none to Invest her body.
  5. It would make sense that standard Radiants could use it, as it would be similar to a Misting burning a godmetal alloy. It's similar enough to let you use it, but has different properties. That's a nice catch, I hadn't realized that. The colors have to come from somewhere.
  6. That's exactly what I remember as well, but I looked through those chapters several times and couldn't find it, lol. I'll have another look.
  7. This is a pretty interesting possibility, especially given that the "alien" is described as sounding "strange". Not like an accent but the way his voice sounded, which I assumed meant he spoke through speakers of some sort due to the suit being airtight for space travel, but he could also be speaking to a Rhythm. I wonder if Enlightened Radiants can use Voidlight. Renarin doesn't display that ability, as far as I'm aware.
  8. Spoilers for the Sixth of the Dusk sequel excerpt. Specifically, this: And this: And for some context, this: What in the world is this? He behaves like a Skybreaker, but he glows violet. The color of Willshapers and Voidlight. What is going on here? Does Skybreaker plate glow violet instead of gray or is this Radiant - assuming he is a Radiant - using Voidlight?
  9. Technically you don't need a full Feruchemist to do it, just a large number of Terris people and a lot of patience.
  10. Shallan demonstrated the ability* to suppress the glow of Stormlight so it isn't as noticeable. Perhaps Jasnah has also figured that out? She has been keeping secrets about her powers since the first book. *Oathbringer chapter 21, according to the Coppermind; I'm fairly sure that I remember her having done it in WOR, but I couldn't find it.
  11. I need to reread Elantris. Or is this from WoBs? Anywho, if the chanting is as versatile as Aons, it can probably create subtler twists, but they'll likely grant weaker abilities.
  12. The trouble with theorizing about Dakhor magic is that we know next to nothing about it. How are the bones carved? Do they cut their arms open and carve into them, or do they do something external that causes the bones to deform into shape? Unless we learn what the process is, I'm not sure whether it's possible to determine whether they can be made subtle or not.
  13. ... Guys, I think I know what happens in Stormlight 5.
  14. I wonder if you could Connect yourself to a relative time. Say, "last week". Not January 7th, but last week, whenever that happens to be today.
  15. Isn't that what Miles does? His metalminds are stabbed into his body, and he's a compounder. It would be trivial to burn a little bit of Invested gold every now and then when it's literally attached to you 24/7.
  16. That raises more questions for me, actually. If they weren't bound by their intents, either of them could create on their own using the power of Adonalsium. I understand that they made a bargain to work together. What I don't understand is how they performed the creation. How do forces of destroying and preserving combine to create?
  17. I'm having trouble understanding how that interaction could have worked. Preservation can keep things from being destroyed, while Ruin can destroy things that already exist. How do they, together, create new things?
  18. Not a specific magic system, but rather mechanical magic systems in general; stuff like fabrials, ettmetal machines and unsealed metalminds. It relates to two concepts that I really like: magic that anybody can use and magical technology. I like imagining that if I were to somehow enter a fantasy world, I would be able to use the magic in that world, and I also really like both the function and aesthetics of machines and gadgets that run on magic.
  19. The word "Elantris" bugs me because I'm not sure if I misunderstood the rules for pronouncing Aonic words, if "Elantris" is an exception or if the name of the book is pronounced differently from the name of the city. Here's my issue: Brandon pronounces it EH-LAHN-TREES. However, by my understanding of Aonic, it should be pronounced EE-LAYN-TRIES. What am I missing?
  20. That is actually a pretty good point - and I'm rethinking my idea of pulse reflection, anyhow. Pulling metals feel like they're pulling you in rather than coming towards you, which I don't think would be possible if it were a reflected pulse.
  21. Which is likely Allomancy-based, as the Ones Above have been implied to be future Scadrians.
  22. Having said what I said, I like @cometaryorbit's suggestion that allomantic detection is related to Nalthian life sense, especially given this Coppermind entry that I just checked: https://coppermind.net/wiki/Heightening#Fourth_Heightening (emphasis mine)
