  1. And I had read TWoKs 5 or 6 times before that one small detail jumped out and hit me in the head.
  2. I feel like there is still more unknown about Kilahito than known. Whenever that feels like the case, I avoid making judgements for (however many..sigh) years it takes to get a full picture. Overall, I was happy with the book, ending included, as there is a lot left open. That may change in the future though.
  3. Unreliable of mind, my world the shifting storm. Lost in storm, shifting the world. My mind of unreliability.
  4. It would really be something to see, if a Radiant Spren had the perception of multiple selves/the sum makes the whole, and a sleepless could become its own small squad.
  5. Basically anytime in SA spoiler (but is it though?)
  6. Anything is a big word. That said, you may still feel the same once you're all caught up. I doubt it, but it's completely valid if you do.
  7. That was the bulk of what I was referring to. It's assumed that freeing BAM will have a substantial effect on all of Roshar. I personally am interested in the effects beyond the Heralds and deadeyes, because it seems like there will be some. Sanderson has given a lot of clues about this but also drawn a line of, "Wait for book 5 "(or 6..but hopefully not, as I would have a great deal of struggle waiting that long).
  8. No, they don't. But certain types of people are far more likely to be Radiants. Adolin on paper (har har) certainly fits the bill. The fact that the entire family have become Radiants (Even Gavilar had originally attracted the Stormfather's notice) is, in and of itself, odd. I understand the feeling of wanting Adolin to be different. I think that's a pretty natural feeling when reading an epic like this, but stop and consider just how odd it is that Sanderson decided to make this entire family Radiant. We haven't seen anything close to this with anyone else. Lirin, has practically said the first 4 oaths of Windrunners, but he hasn't attracted a spren. That's not particularly surprising with him being who he is..i just bring it up because of the familial point I'm making. Adolin most certianly would fit into multiple orders. Clearly he and Maya are doing something brand new, and that is exciting. I do like the OP's intent of considering that MayAdolin are doing something wild, not just new. There are many very special things about Adolin and Renarin both. And while Renarin is a Radiant..he was also the first Sja-anaty Radiant..which I am sure will lead to some other wild new stuff. Dalinar is a different kind of Bondsmith. Renarin is a different kind of Truthwatcher. It tracks that Adolin will be a different kind of Surgebinder..whatever it is he ends up being.
  9. I mean, Sanderson gives us a large clue in the interactions between Dalinar and Ishar in RoW. He becomes completely lucid, and not only that, but is immediately a kinder, empathetic person. He pleads for help, and gives what clues he can and midsentence slips back into madness. There is something above and beyond all of the trauma they have experienced that somehow was negated for a few seconds because of Oaths being sworn. I know many people have waxed extensively on that specifically, so I won't go into it. But yea, there is something (or group of things) that would most likely remove that supernatural form of madness from all of the Heralds, if done.
  10. All of the Kholins are Radiants, except Adolin. Clearly Sanderson has a specific plan for him, but him not being a Radiant is odd at this point. I do think @Soulcaster05 is on to something here. If nothing else, it's a unique interaction/internal dialogue with Adolin, and Sanderson did choose to italicize those words. That's about as intentional as it gets. I certainly hesitate to make any definitive claim(s), but my BSpidey since is tingling on this one. He did it for a reason, at the very least.
  11. Personally, I'd like to see more visions in general. There were very few ever mentioned "on screen" despite the fact that Dalinar had dozens of them. So, for me, it's hard to say.
  12. This was a big chapter for a lot of reason, including all of your complaints. I wrote this three different ways and decided that I couldn't write it without being too spoiler-y. Your complaints are valid, and there are good reasons that you have them..and no..it wasn't written poorly. It was written on purpose.
  13. I am super down with this, just saying. I think they'd make a great couple.
  14. OK that tracks logically. Considering what we know ( and don't know but are inferring) about Nightblood, that does make sense and would leave a lot up to conjecture on Borea's part.
  15. So, the entire continent is moving directly towards the Origin?
  16. So, considering the line of discussion on this thread part of the quote @Treamayne mentions above
  17. Could Taravangian have set that up? Almost certainly (99.9999%) not (because of the timeline, as you mentioned). Could Odium or Cultivation? Yes, either of them could. I would think Odium the more likely of the two, but both have detailed foresight and either could have done so.
  18. Cryptics are essentially, Calculus personified. There is math for every single physical interaction in the universe. It's always been a mind-blowing concept to me that there is a language that describes the function of everything, and it's independent of us. It simply is. And that's what Cryptics are..they can tell you the math for a comet being hit by a rouge asteroid at .1 the speed of light with the greatest of ease. But, emotions? Social queues? These things only have, at best, a tangential relationship to the math of what's going on (as far as we currently know, and that limits what Brandon is writing I would imagine). There are electrical impulses in our brain that trigger all manner of chemical reactions, and I would assume any Cryptic could give you the math for those reactions at an extremely precise level. But in math, unlike any other scientific field, things are either true or false. Not so with humanity (or any other of the sapient races in the Cosmere). Cryptics know humans are weird, and they are scientifically curious, so they want to know about all these states of partial truth and partial falseness. They love them. They love lies that are mostly true. It honestly seems a bit kinky to me, though in a Cryptic-y non-sexual way. Perhaps more akin to the feeling one gets by scratching an itch in just the right spot, sort of way? It seems to excite and sooth them at the same time. All of that is to say that I think the answer to your question is both true and false. And I have always thought that Brandon writes them that way on purpose.
  19. Sorry, I definitely didn't process the first quote fully. I probably didn't because of my preconceived notion that Maya, specifically, will be able to return eventually. The thing about every one of those quotes, is that Brandon qualifies them every single time. I feel like he would not be going out of his way to say, "Yes, it would have to be the original radiant, but there is/are rare exception(s)." I have zero idea what else would need to happen for Maya to fully return, but personally, I believe she will be able to. I just have no idea how. And my main feeling is based on how Brandon goes out of his way to say, "Yeah, nearly all of the deadeyes will not be able to return. It's super hard, unless..RAFO-y things happen."
  20. I don't think there is enough published canon to make a call on this, but the very little that we saw Ishar do, without any apparent effort, combined with either he or some unknown bondsmith bringing a huge number of people from one planet to another...yeah...why not? If a bondsmith can create connection(s) instead of only manipulating what is present, then with enough skill and investiture, I don't see that there are very many limits to what someone like that can do?
  21. I am not convinced that Adolin (or anyone) with the proper Intent couldn't restore the deadeyes. Brandon didn't actually say there that the deadeyes need their original radiant, but that something is broken in the spiritual realm because of the broken oath. Also, Aux seems to imply that both spren and radiant speak the oaths. If that's how it works, and Maya broke her oaths and is now coming back to them..it would seem at least possible (even if it's through a novel process) to be restored to full..uhh..sprenhood?
  22. The simplest answer to me is that Hoid was/is Sig's teacher and mentor. Students of excellent teachers will surpass them in myriad ways. Also..Hoid makes the comment, "You've probably seen more of the Cosmere than I have at this point.." So, if Hoid had shown up on Canticle and seen what Sig saw...I would find it impossible to believe that he wouldn't have made the same connection.
  23. Now i am curious as to why something is happening to Sigzil that is
  24. Just what the topic says. Hoid and Nomad's Torments don't act the same. They are similar for sure, but for a while there, Nomad couldn't touch anything he perceived as a weapon. Hoid carries a sword around on Roshar, and even hands it to people at various points. At one point, he hands it to Jasnah knowing she'll kill someone with it. I am not sure, at the moment, of other distinct differences, but there probably are others. Is this just Hoid being Hoid? He's 10,000+ years old and can sculpt his perception in ways to get around his Torment?
  25. Well the Blackthorn had him 40 Elites Kaladin thinks he has a thousand fails But Squire, you're in luck cause in you breathe You got Radiant light, never pales You got some Power in your Order now Some heavy investiture in your veins You can punch, slide, Regrow, lash and fly, So, all you got to do is speak the Words, and They'll say, "Accepted, these words be!" So let bond your spirit, our souls bound You ain't never had a spren like me! OK that's my first draft at the first stanza. This is more fun than I thought it would be.
