Thaidakar burst out of the court, widening his eyes. Nearby, a being watched from the shadows. No, that's not right. The being was the shadows... Yes, that was right. Shadow watched them, specifically Thaidakar. This... this was fascinating. It had taken him awhile, ages, to find the right universe. This new one was the perfect one. This Thaidakar was the one. Shadow unmerged from the shadows, forming into a pale man with a dark suit. No-one saw him, not until it was too late. He rushed forward, putting a hand on Thaidakar's shoulder, "It's time to go." Thaidakar jerked from Shadow's grip, "What the- Bailiff!" "We have work to do." "I- I'm doing my work here!" "You are needed. I will return you to this universe once our work is finished. I am sincerely sorry, my friend, but trillions of lives are at stake, perhaps more." "What... you're insane! Insane!" "I think not." In a burst of purple energy, they were both gone. @Immortal Platypus

Thaidakar blinked. And blinked again. And blinked a third time. "What?"

Thaidakar smiled melancholically, "It's alright... I won't bite, I promise."

Thaidakar walked straight to her, sitting next to her, "hey, is everything alright?"

"Your honor, I would agree."

"And I would expect no less!" Thaidakar almost laughed. It was too easy. FAR too easy of a solution. But, oft times, the best solutions are the easy ones. "We've been looking at this in the wrong way. What if they merely alternate days? Think about it. Here's how two weeks would go. Sunday: Panda gets Stick. Monday: Narrative gets stick. Tuesday: Panda gets Stick. And so on until next Sunday. On that Sunday, Narrative would get Stick and it would be the opposite of the previous week. My friends, is that not the perfect solution?"

Thaidakar watched all this with his brain moving at the speed of a freight train. How could he fix this? Then... it came to him. "There is one more alternative."

Thaidakar looked around the room thoughtfully. "My dear friends, the jury, the judge, the parents... We are here, I will remind you, to decide a serious matter. Where will the child be? Will the child wind up with @SmilingPanda19 or @Part Of The Narrative? Or, perhaps, as @SmilingPanda19 suggests, one will have them irl and one will have them online. These three choices are what have been proposed, as well as the thing I suggested earlier. However," Thaidakar pulled out another paper, "There is something we have not discussed yet, and I would like the jury to consider this option. Both parents love the child, that is fact. Otherwise, why would they be fighting over them? "The child, @Just-A-Stick told me something that has made me think a lot about all of this. The child, Stick, wants both. I will remind you that we are discussing the fate of the child not," He said, turning to the Judge, "of the parents. "My proposition at this point is that there are basic ground rules set between the parents about what authorities they have over the child individually so that they can work together for the child's over all benefit." The lawyer smiled at Stick. "These ground rules are set by the parents and two trusted lawyers from two different firms. Thus, the parents can both operate in the same spaces with the child while there are things set for how they do things." He looked around, then, finally, he looked at the child with a questioning smile on his face, "Does that sound peaceable to you?"

Thaidakar looked at her for a long moment. He smiled, finally, and said, "I promise it will work out." He patted her on the shoulder, "I promise." He stood up, looking around the court. The lawyer approached the front of the court stiffly. "Yes, yes there is. Do I have the floor, your honor?"

Thaidakar raises an eyebrow, nods. He walked over to the child slowly and carefully with a smile on his face. He knelt beside her and said softly, "This is going to work out." He muttered a few words to her that the jury, the judge and everyone else couldn't hear. "I have done something very clever, small one. I have not said who's lawyer I am. If you want to go to a specific parent, I will make sure you get to them. Do you have a choice that you want to make or should the grownups keep fighting like they're far younger than you?" @Just-A-Stick

Thaidakar nodded, "I agree, indubitably." In a random church of the indubitable one, the chorus of indubitablies began.

Mr T. T. Ghostblood strode forward slowly and deliberately. He gazed around the room at each and every member of the jury. Finally, he set his suitcase down on a table and withdrew a few papers. He licked his finger and lifted a page. Finally, he cleared his throat and began to speak. "Your Honor and the jury, before you consider this case I must bring to light the following facts." he lifted another page, straightened the stack, continued. "Several people have been accepted to various Shardic families in these esteemed forums. Several to different ones. Is it an outlandish proposition that the child can be a part of both families? And, in the situation where there are conflicting interests of the mothers, that perhaps a third party can step in and make the final decision? Your honor, I propose that a regulating authority be brought into the fray. Thus, there is a final authority to conflicts between the two regarding the child." The lawyer straightened the papers, lifted one, continued, "And, one more thing, I would like to bring to light a law. That law being: she who gives cookies is mother. This was passed on the 32nd of Undecember in the Guilds forum by the Senatus Dessertus, led by Chairman @Edema Rue. Shall I continue?"

the door of the courtroom burst open, "Your honor, deny that. There is one more piece of evidence that must be brought up for the jury to deliberate upon." It was none other than that one lawyer, Thaidakar T. Ghostblood. "May I take the floor?"
