Long Game 109: The Lords of Luthadel
The Unknown Character replied to TwinStorm's topic in Sanderson Elimination
LG109 - Night Three: Multi-use Coins Vin fell into the courtyard, a peeved look on her face. She was too busy for this political nonsense. And that last batch of alloy had her feeling worse than usual. Silent as, well, as a Mistborn, she tossed a coin into the air. It spun through the air. Vin mentally assigned one side to each noble. She lightly burned iron, not to affect the toss, but to track the clip’s movement. It clattered against the ground. Elend would want to strip the noble of their titles, expel them from Luthadel. Vin couldn't risk them helping the other side. The coin landed ash side up, condemning Lord Sart. Vin yanked the coin to her hand as the noble started to back away in fear. She threw the coin into the air and shoved it towards the man's head. She turned before the clip hit. As she walked away, she heard a thud and pulled the coin back. She let it fall to the ground in front of her, stepping forward, and pushed into the sky. ~ Sart has been executed! Sart was a New Lord. LG109 - Day Two: The Woes of Automation (Totally not a jab at Twin and Chatgpt) Dedri sighed. It was getting too late for him. Ever since the Lord Ruler’s fall, it had been constant work, and as a result, he was getting more and more tired. Not ideal for the Emperor’s advisor, but it was something he had to work for. It also was frustrating to reside in Keep Venture, seeing as it was one of the coldest buildings in the city, full of winding cold stone hallways. It didn’t help sensible folk to be uncomfortable, but that made sense for the Ventures. Straff had always been ridiculously arrogant, not unlike R2D2. Dedri sighed. It had been a shame. R2D2 had been honest. They had tried to bring him back, but he had already left the city. Ashamed, apparently. He stopped, seeing a lantern glow in the distance. He tensed, terrified, until he saw the face. Elend. His Emperor. “Greetings, my Lord.” Elend nodded to him. Dedri frowned. That was . . . unlike Venture, to say the least. He was always very vivacious. “My Lord?” “Dedri?” Elend glanced at him. Yes, something was wrong with him. He could see the eyes. Hollow. “My Lord? What happened?” “There was . . . an assassin. Mistborn. Came for me. He got scared off by my security but —” He paused. Dedri frowned. He knew Elend’s Mistborn to be competent, but he faced assassins every day. This was no different. Why was he so shocked? “In the fight, the Mistborn, he . . . found another target. It was an accident, mostly. Scrap metal from the fight. Sharp though. It . . . he killed him.” Dedri gasped. “Who?” When Elend did not respond, he grabbed his shoulders. Improper, to be sure, but the situation demanded it. “Who?” he shouted in his face. “Your Mistakes. Shrapnel, through the heart.” Lord Ruler. Lord Ruler. Dedri staggered backwards. The assassins . . . they had gone too far. “My Lord . . . Elend . . . Your Mistborn . . . has she found anything?’ Elend gazed at him blankly, but frowned. “No. I will . . . we will . . . settle this in court. Message the Lords. The speeches continue.” Dedri sighed. Those ideals. Those rusting ideals. “All the Lords?” he tried, hoping to bring something else up. Not that it mattered in the wake of the murder. Elend frowned. “What do you mean?” “Well sir, Lord Capone . . . you know as well as I do, he has ties to crime! The Metal —” Elend cut him off. “Dedri, it doesn’t matter. Summon the Lords. All of them. My father’s spies . . . they’ll be gone by evening.” ~ Tin Capone ignored the bickering of the nobles. They put on a pretty face for the common folk, but they showed their crude manners and poor judgment behind closed doors. They were hardly worth listening to. Instead, Tin Capone listened to his pollsters, who had been collecting information on which nobles were most favored. His primary informant had yet to arrive, but one of the lesser members of his organization approached. The man used… unconventional methods with unpredictable results. “What is it?” He asked underneath the clamor of nobles. “Yeah, um, Mr, uh, I mean Lord Capone sir, I have my results from the automatic polling stations. It took me hours, but it should be correct,” the man replied, a ball of nerves. Tin Capone tore the proffered paper from the man's hand. He didn't care what his underlings called him, so long as they were respectful and actually rusting picked one. “These are ridiculous, they can't possibly be right.” The man paled, “That's what the machine said, Lord Capone.” Capone tossed aside the papers. “Useless.” Some time later, his most reliable pollster arrived. The man was grimy, covered in ash and showing signs of hard labor. “I've been among the people, sir.” “What are your findings?” Capone asked, looking at his own notes. The man shared his numbers from memory. Capone smiled, such an efficient worker, he thought. They largely matched his, other than a few inconsistencies. Between the two, he felt he had a good grasp of the situation. Time to earn some political power of his own. ~ CD has died! CD was a New Lord. Skaa Messengers: The Messengers are silent today. Things To Note: You may place a vote by putting a player's name in bolded red. The player with the most votes will die at the end of the turn. Ties are decided randomly. LG109 - Day One: The Newest Lords “Dedri?” “Yes, my Lord?” Dedri replied, turning to face the man he had sworn to serve. The beardless boy, who had never spent a night in the ash, never faced hardships. People thought being nobility was easy. They were wrong. While some of his brethren did just lounge and party, they had to face the burden of rule, of politics. That meant long nights, hard journeys. In some ways, they had it worse than the Skaa. Well, now they did. The Skaa ruled everything now. And they loved Elend. Couldn’t see past his faults. “Your presentation . . . you don’t understand just how necessary what comes next is. The fate of the Empire depends on it.” “Believe me, Lord, I know.” Dedri replied, trying to keep the strain out of his voice. “Make us proud, Dedri.” He nodded, in spite of himself. Lord Ruler, he wanted to serve Elend well. He felt . . . indebted to him. He wouldn’t see this Empire fall, even if its ruler was incompetent. “My Lord . . . what comes next is a toss of the dice. Ultimately, we do not make the decisions. I need you to know that, My Lord . . . Elend. I need you to understand. Our fate, the fate of the Empire . . . it's in the hands of the Lords.” he turned, looking away. In the hands of a bunch of pathetic, greedy noblemen. “May God help us all.” he whispered. ~ The Lords gathered for the assembly, and there was a certain… tension. They had become accustomed to change. The new emperor regularly granted and stripped titles these days, meaning they often had no idea who would be staring back at them come the assembly. Most of them were trained Lords, the remnants of the shattered nobility, and as such would not show their surprise, even if they felt any, which seemed less likely each day. Random minor nobles, people who could barely trace their ancestry, even some skaa craftsmen had been granted titles. It was disturbing. And yet, after the assembly had already gathered and nearly begun the session, they all stared when the newest lord walked through the door. They knew him, or they knew of him. They knew that slight limp, and that aluminum cane. They knew the scare on his cheek. They knew his name. And they knew to fear him. He smiled. “Emperor Elend recognizes his newest noble, introducing… Lord Capone.” ~ Welcome welcome welcome to LG109 The Lords of Luthadel - Day One! All GMPMs should be out by now, but make sure to PM me and/or @TwinStorm if you can't find yours. This is the most people you've played with? Wow, making me feel old Typically, a 16 player game would have four elims (25% is standard), maybe three if the team was powerful in some other way, but this team is underpowered and Drake said he leaned higher, so I'd guess 5 maybe even 6 if the village got a lot of roles- 533 replies
