Mid-Range 76: Or Worse, Expelled!: A Harry Potter Mafia Game
Aeternum replied to Archer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
We should be careful of voting -2 and -1s because the elims could snipe someone. I'd only vote a -3 here. Edit: Re: elim numbers, since this is a 17 player game, it should be 4 elims because that's fairly standard, which means we need to vote right today most likely, and we need to avoid letting the elims know who to snipe. Unless we have a perfect PoE (unlikely), it's better to avoid -1 and -2 votes to guarantee that town is choosing the exe, and the elims cannot snipe any misvotes. -

I am not exactly interested in playing this game, and I only pinch hit to keep SE alive because I don't play mafia anymore. To put it simply. Pretty sure I've been pretty solving for my standards, I simply haven't done my usual 7 hours of losing my mind over mechanics because I never read the setup . @DrakeMarshall give me a complete set of names to vote or I am unlikely to vote this cycle. -

Day 1 votes with flips: Day 2: Day 3: I was writing a whole section and then for some reason it all got deleted and now I have to fill in what I wrote from memory so I'm a little upset and giving up on analysis for tonight. Sigh. Anyways. I can pretty comfortably cross out Drake being with TUM or Grass atp, since if you're going to distance, you don't -3 an elim partner. Any potential distancing would be in the -1s, but I don't really know if I expect much distancing. If Drake is an elim, that means his teammates are somewhere in Frozen Mint, TJ, Ink, TwinStorm, Hopper. With Ink making the most sense. Atp I probably just townread Drake because I think we lose to e!Drake, and because Aman was towny. Frozen Mint and TUM are unpaired for similar reasons. I could probably unpair most people who voted each other -3. Hopper not voting anyone at all is imo not indicative of much. If anything, I expect elims to vote more since elim doc should push for them to vote, but there's a world where e!Hopper is simply inactive in elim doc. Wahr had towny posting day 2. My current town pool is Drake, Wahr, Miss Fallen. I did have Grass/Verdance as town earlier, but I went to recheck and I dunno, this kind of reads like a slip but doesn't really make sense to be one when I actually check votes, since most of the Mist +2/3 voters are flipped town. But Verdance also posts a bit like innocent town (mostly around the whole reaction test thing day 2). There were a lot of people who did not vote a -3 on day 2. I'm reading this as it likely meaning an elim was not in danger that day. I'm probably looking the most at TJ and Ink right now, since TJ got votes in a pattern that I felt I should be looking for (hence why I was checking Wahr and Verdance), and Ink for idk similar reasons. There is a chance that day 3, all the elims voted -3 on Coco, especially in worlds where Verdance or Ink are elims. Idk vote analysis is definitely not my specialty, but I'm not sure that the difference in apathy towards the day 2 exe vs the amount of votes for the day 3 exe amounts to nothing. Much higher chance of an elim being in danger on day 3 than day 2, specifically in Verdance/Ink I think. I don't really think an elim was in significant danger on day 1 either, with how spread out votes were, but I'd be more confident on saying that for day 2 than day 1. Edit: Mippo not getting + votes on day 3 and then dying is also interesting, but I'll think about it later. -

Causing confusion on who is the prefect imo is more pro-town than pro-elim. The misleading votes part I'd be more concerned about. -

Eh you don't suck, mafia is just a hard game sometimes and that's ok . We should still have another misexe before we lose regardless. Looking at the votes, I'm curious why @TwinStorm ended up voting me as +3? -

Towny, but your worldview doesn't really make sense. An elim team of Drake/Ver both don't need to and probably wouldn't confuse the thread over who the prefect was. Imo confusing the thread is more pro-town than not anyway, since the elims don't know who the prefects are but are going to want to target them. Causing confusion to cover up that they're elims just doesn't really make sense. You mention that this is because elims cannot NK themselves, but I'm ngl then the elims wouldn't want to claim prefect at all, even to confuse the thread, since claiming prefect means they would have a higher chance of being NK'd, which would make them more suspicious if they are alive longer since they have higher NK equity. Anyways. I've seen a lot of talk about the prefects having an elim in the pool? Could someone kindly explain why because I've missed the memo on mechanics aka I did not read any of the setup and will not be because why would I so I'm not really following. -

Aeternum replied to Archer's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well it appears my lack of reading setups is going to cause me a lot of confusion this game. Unless we have a confirmed number of elims, I'm going to loosely assume 17 players means around 4 elims, so we've got some space to be wrong for at least a day here most likely. I'm getting a little confused by all the similar looking names, but I assume I should recognize at least a couple of you from previous games? There's several I don't recognize though, nice to see some new faces around! Hope you're all enjoying SE From cycle 1, Aman slot (now Drake) looks very town for how pro-town Aman's posts are. I read the convo with Through the Living Mist as v/v. This post from Through the Living Grass reads a bit like an elim struggling to find a place to start solving in the thread. And this post right after also isn't great. Gives very awkward elim vibes. This ig I could read as towny but I initially wanted to burn this post with fire so yup. Tbh this could be innocent newbie town (generally the kind of player I have an extremely hard time reading and will tunnel for half the game). It's just so out of nowhere and not really productive from an elim pov, as in I don't think an elim player is going to speculate on that kind of thing with TMI. So maybe I townlean this slot rn. Later posts make me lean more newbie town than elim struggling to get into thread. This post from mippo is a good poke imo. Also like this post and probably townlean mippo. TJ seems fine, Doc seems ok, coco is ok mostly just for this. Wahr/coco I'm going to lightly unpair off of the last line in that post, it's a little weird of a way to defend an elim partner I think but this is pending later re-eval if it matters later. Will read cycle 2 another time if I'm feeling up to it. I really can't be bothered to figure out how this whole voting thing works, but I'd currently vote to exe in the group of Through the Living Hopper, Through the living Wahr, TwinStorm, Through the Living Ink, Miss Fallen (although giving some grace here for being a newbie on cycle 1, which is all I've read), TUM, and Frozen Mint. Which is pretty much everyone who didn't interest me in any way on cycle 1. Of those, TUM I'd probably give the most leeway to as I was fine with his cycle 1 posts, but I didn't get enough town vibes to move out of my voting pool. Also to note, I'm fairly surprised Qianweilian was exe'd because I had Qian as town off of d1, so I'd be curious as to how that happened. -

I didn't expect to be in this game, so I likely won't be super active or do any roleplaying since it is a Harry Potter themed game. I haven't read anything so if anyone would like to summarize anything important that's happened, that would be helpful. Anyways hello -
