  1. The colonel nodded in appreciation for Maddy's support. "The last thing I need is for this murderer to get away. C'mon Maddy, we have to find him." The colonel strode away from Cadenza as he started to search for Cruz, walking with with a stiff posture. He didn't check to see if Maddy was following.
  2. Arthur smiled at the woman before handing a cone to each of the guys at his side, keeping one for himself. "Thank you darling; I'm sure they'll be wonderful." As Arthur turned to leave, he noticed Melody. "Hello there, I didn't think I'd be seeing you for a little while."
  3. "No, I'll take him myself." The colonel looked around the area with a cold gaze. "Where is he?"
  4. "What a dear, isn't she?" He aimed the question at the two men at his side, neither of them seemed to respond as they watched the area with apathetic expressions.
  5. "You know I can't do that. Even if I could, I wouldn't. I knew many of them, they served under and with me. If you had to explain to their wives, their husbands, their children that the man responsible for their loved one's death wasn't being brought to justice because someone thinks he's still good, do you think you could do it? Because someone has to."
  6. Just as the woman turned away, a familiar, nearly squeaky voice called out to her. "Ma'am, three chocolate fudge cones with raspberry syrup for me, if you will." Walking up to the serving area was Arthur, with two large men at his side, the same ones from the last time.
  7. "This murderer, 'Cruz,' helped Trace kill over one hundred people. Do you think that he's worth protecting?"
  8. "And attacking the monster lady was going too far as well? Am I also expected to allow Trace's other companion, 'Crus' I believe, to get off scott-free? Did you actually take the time to learn what they did?"
  9. The colonel started to look annoyed. "I know I'm starting to sound like a broken recording, but bear with me. You let the target get taken away to meet an undetermined 'Queen' by, and I quote, 'a monster lady?' Am I the only one seeing issues with this, because I can't be."
  10. "Thing? The one with the mask?"
  11. The colonel referenced a report from his device. "The reports say that there were two."
  12. "It's not me I'm worried about, it's everyone caught between you and her. If you forgot, she and her friend caused a lot of death and destruction. I also won't pretend that I understand all of this Trace/Janice garbage, the closest thing I've heard about this comes from wi-" The colonel winced ever so slightly, cutting himself off. He rather ungracefully changed the subject, "hold on, where is Trace's friend?"
  13. "What you're telling me is that you let a highly dangerous criminal who's responsible for an undetermined but high amount of deaths walk away to meet with some 'Queen?'" The colonel stepped towards Cadenza, using his height to loom over her, "I don't know how they do things where you come from, but I would have never let her walk away." The colonel, once indifferent towards Cadenza, if not friendly, began to glare at her. "If you were one of my troops, then I wou-" The colonel stopped mid sentence and heard Maddy out. He took a breath, "can you swear to me upon everything that you hold dear that Trace, now this 'Janice,' won't only come back, but also won't kill anyone else? Can you swear to me that she is not Trace anymore, whatever that mean, on your very life?" The colonel aimed his last question at Cadenza.
  14. Mustachio mounted his scooter and drove away, determined to not get involved until the Foundation stepped in and gave the green-light. Why couldn't more people follow the system? Mustachio might never know.
  15. Ros looked as if he were about to say something, he stopped himself before he shyly stepped farther back behind Crescendo.
  16. "Cadenza, my orders were clear. Maddy and I are to neutralize Trace, and we can't afford to fail. You tell me that she "promised" to come back, how can I know this? Do you even know where she's going?"
  17. "You let her get away?"
  18. "Well then, where's Trace?"
  19. "I see, now tell me about my friend Ewald, what did you see?"
  20. "I don't know, I've been out of action for the last- wait, shopping?"
  21. The colonel looked relieved to see Maddy, if only slightly. "I don't think things went that well for me, do you need medical attention?"
  22. The colonel woke to the smell of something burning. When he opened his eyes, all he saw was burned grass around him. He didn't move for a second, trying to gather his thoughts in order to remember how he got here. He remembered people, a mission? Trace. The colonel snapped up, moving into a combat crouch, doing a quick scan of the area, finding himself alone. He remembered waiting for the right moment to strike, then not much else. He must have had another episode, something must have triggered the memories. Given that he was alone, he must have been knocked out, yes that was it, knocked out, wasn't it? That was wrong, but the alternative was much worst than being wrong. The colonel reloaded his sidearm as he did a damage assessment on himself, and he then started to retrace his steps; they were clearly marked by footprints of burned grass. Voices came from a short way off, which drew the colonel's attention. He approached the voices carefully to see if he could get a visual before deciding on what to do. When the colonel saw that it was Jay and his friends, the colonel stopped and assessed the situation before deciding to stand up and reveal himself. He walked towards the group, looking for Maddy. @Matrim's Dice
  23. Kuno chuckled to himself for a short moment. "Strange how?"
