After giving her a couple of moments of breath, Rakushta begins to follow after the beast carefully along with the rest of the party, explosive in hand.

"It might be testing our strength," says Rakushta, inserting himself into the conversation. "It'll want to expend as little resources as possible, depending on how smart it is. It wants to find out what we can handle, and then throw the bare minimum at us."

Don't you love it when you get distracted by family history? For example, in New York there's an island called Riker's Island- today it's a correctional center. But way back when the Dutch owned New York my direct family lived and owned it- my grandmother's maiden name is Ryker. Even before that, one of my great-great-great-something grandfathers had a brother who had a son who had a son, who's name was Maarten Schenck van Nydeggen, who served under William of Orange in the Eighty Year's War- and he switched from Dutch service to Spanish service and then back to Dutch before drowning trying to attack a castle.
That's just my mothers side- I know a lot less about my father's side, but just by searching on familysearch.com I got some fun prison results, all from Ireland. One person deserted from the english army, another ratted out someone with seditious documents, and a third I can't read yet, since they wrote it in really hard to read cursive.
Anyway, thanks for letting me rant. Do you guys have any cool ancestry stories that you would be willing to share? -
"By the survivor..." Calarian wasn't a very religious person, but it seemed fitting for this moment. "I... I don't think these spikes will help. I don't know the effects random spikes would... have..." He trails off, a strange expression forming on his face. "Wait. You couldn't of had any sort of spikes- you don't have a speck on you! How then...?" He pauses, thinking about this dilemma for a moment.

"People, I can't throw bombs if you are in the radius! I could blow this thing to bits if you get out of the way."

"Alright then, that's enough for me. I'll be on the lookout, though." He steps into the carriage, hand on the end of his rapier.

Rakushta sighs in relief, having leapt backwards away from the sudden attack- having now stood up, he appraises the pistol.

Rakushta follows the group, an explosive in hand, just in case.

"True, but we should have enough, depending on how many bugs there are. And with some time I can make some more."

He walks over to your flank- out of the way of your guns and begins to advance into the village.

"You better not, stranger! Though it would be helpful if we knew what we were fighting!"

He just winces and dashes into the village, hefting his hammer and preparing for attack.

"Who's attacking?" says Qavisxu urgently.

Without a word, he follows you down the hill, dashing towards the burning village with his strange hammer.

"Gah!" Stumbling backwards, he pulls out three of his explosives- you can see that they are each larger than the ones used on the bugs. He lights them all at once and throws them at the monster. He then starts dashing away, back down the way they came.

"I'm fine with that. Onward, then."

"It's just bug guts. Everyone gets covered in bug guts at least once in their life- be thankful that it happened now and not at a more inconvenient time."
