  1. Talk to him! Sara pushed the thought away. Better to listen. The other patrons leaned in too, closer and closer. She tapped the counter nervously, beneath the rim where the groove rested, formed by her tapping over so many years. She'd found the motion helped her focus. You own this place now. You can talk to people, you know? She knew. "You don't say?"
  2. The sun woke Sara up far earlier than she wished. Peaking through curtains half-drawn, hitting her eyes at just the right angle. Bed too hard, clothes too tight. If she had to talk to one person today, it would be her death. A little dramatic there, you think? She hushed her thoughts. Creaking joints matched the creaking floors as she shuffled to change. Getting old at 27? She felt old, though she could imagine her uncle laughing at that thought now. "You're barely out of your childhood!" He would say. What would today bring? Another death? A peak out the window showed a man already waiting for the tavern doors to open. It couldn't be later than noon. Maybe she'd take a drink or two tonight, just to get her through another long, late night of pretending like she knew how to talk to people. Traumatized people. What's happening to our town? -0- Oooooo... thoughts. Finally have some things to say. Striker and Illwei yes. I'm still uncertain where the suspicion on Reading came from. I may be stupid. For the most part, though, I'm reading Illwei mild village. What's making me suspicious is her defending Striker, who I am suspicious of. Oh and also the random vote on Tani that I don't think ever got explained? Nevermind, scratch the mild village. No idea what to think about Illwei. General lack of concrete info in PMs, and points easy to fake or defend from Striker. Also, he jumped right on voting for Tani after Illwei did, blaming it on emphasizing being new. Hello? I've done the same thing! I can say at least for myself it's not me being like "oh look at me, I don't know anything and am harmless," but actually not knowing how things work around here. I know of at least two people that can say I've asked them basic questions about game slang in PMs. While, unlike Tani, I haven't played games like this before (unless you count the deck of cards version of Mafia I guess), but they could easily just be confused even after having played games elsewhere. Interesting that that point would be made specifically about Tani, and not me, when we're in virtually the same boat. Anyway, old points. Nonetheless: Striker. Oof, this feels bad. Subject to change based on new discussion! Finally got all my work done, so I'm hopefully here for the night. As of right now, though, this is my best vote. (Sorry <3)
  3. Same here lol. Originally sorta agreed with Mat's point of switching 'em bc I thought it'd be funny if Kas pulled a fast one and lied about how they died. Didn't catch that in the rules XD All I remember about Ventyl is ppl going "oh yeah he might be village, but he could also be doing [complicated reverse psychology trick]." XD No idea what to think about this. Will probably have more thoughts when I'm not typing in the middle of class oop-
  4. The fire in the hearth didn't match the haunted gaze in the eyes of Sara's patrons. Stronger drinks ordered tonight. More coins in her pocket. Didn't feel worth it. She'd had her suspicions, sure, but... Lord Ruler. She was glad she'd slept through the violence. Probably would've found herself on the other side of the counter, pourin' her own drinks to match the others'. Those words rang in her head again... Distant enough to not get involved. But shouldn't she get involved? Two murders and a death from paranoia. When would the knife be at her back? She'd listened. For so long she'd listened. She knew everyone in this town, heard their drunken secrets spilled over stale ale and dying embers. Never had she suspected a murderer among them. Perhaps... she needed to focus less on listening. Sara refilled a lone man's pint. "Doin' alright?" She didn't charge a coin for it. -0- Okay, there's a couple different possibilities here, but I'm leaning toward either 1 soother and 1 rioter or 2 soothers and 1 rioter. 3 soothers is also a possibility, but what makes me think 1 soother 1 rioter is Kas clarifying that a rioter can change a vote to a no-vote, and it would cancel their own. So there's a chance a rioter canceled a vote and canceled their own. If I'm reading the rules wrong though pls tell me lol. I guess there's also the possibility of 4 soothers and 1 rioter, if we're just mathing it. Wouldn't that be wild?
  5. I'd like to say that I came to the conclusion myself. I almost voted for Striker, who is my actual irl boyfriend. I waited a while to vote because I was going between you two and a third person, not because I was waiting for a bandwagon to jump on. Didn't feel comfortable throwing a vote to the void for no reason, especially considering tani did that and was immediately pressed for a reason. Not that that's a bad thing, but I would be uncomfortable with it. I wanted to collect my thoughts. And I'm not sure why I'm being jumped on for this. I'm making my own decisions based on what feels right, and doing my best to be active while juggling exams, projects, and essays
  6. Bit defensive, really. Point two for me to keep my vote on you. Anyway, there are 25 other players, yet I know nothing about any of them. All information I can gather is based on this thread, and the people who have posted the most are... well, you guessed it. Hard to make a judgement on someone who's done nothing other than some rp, or said they'll come back for discussion later ;). My vote could change, but it's staying now. I have my reason to vote for you, so shrugs.
  7. The chatter in the tavern sat at a low rumble. No one knew what to make of the situation. Sara didn't either, she supposed. She'd caught more than one suspicious glance thrown the direction of people who would otherwise be friendly. Paranoia made an enemy of even the closest brothers. She poured herself a pint. -0- Okay I'm going to be the new guy and say it's very hard to make a vote decision when half the reasoning in the thread is based on previous games and playstyles. Is that something that happens a lot here? Regardless, Illwei. Not totally sure what to make of that whole argument, but all of it was very suspicious. Unless y'all are both incredible at faking arguments, I don't see both of you being elim. But ah, anything could happen.
  8. Sara sighed. She did that a lot. Felt like every day was a sigh. Grey skies and grey ash and grey moods in the tavern. At least the comfortable weight in her pocket wasn't grey. Coins did wonders for the mood, no matter the color. Her fear had been in vain; the murders and rumors didn't drive people away from the Steel Crow, but toward it instead. Hard to resist a decent pint and warm hearth when a cold body sat just outside only hours before. Replace a pint, grab a coin, sigh a sigh. At least her regular paid well, poor fool. She'd stopped wonderin' where he got the money ages ago. Friendly enough for business, distant enough to not get involved. She dropped the coin into her pocket. -0- I have no idea what's going on! Feels like that's standard for the newbies, but heyo. At least Striker is here to remind me of the rules. As for the game, suppose I gotta vote, yeah? But I've got time. Hopefully I can figure out what any of this means and who is suspicious... without any real evidence! Too bad everyone is suspicious of the one guy I actually know.
  9. Sara swirled the ragged old towel around the inside of the foggy glass. Driblets of water ran down her arm, wetting the edges of her sleeve, rolled up to prevent this exact circumstance. She sighed and set the glass down. It seemed like no matter how much she scrubbed, she couldn't wipe away the years of finger prints and built-up dust from these glasses. If only she could replace them, but glass didn't come cheap this far out in the Western Dominance. Or anywhere in the Final Empire, really. Stupid nobles. It'd been a few months since she took over ownership of The Steel Crow. Ten years of mopping unknown substances off grainy wood floors had left her the owner after her uncle's tragic, but expected, passing. Working here had its perks; she knew just about everyone in Fallion's Tears, though almost none of them were in the tavern now, save one man who she saw every day. Too shaken up by the recent death, she supposed. Poor Bartholomew. She watched the lone man stumble out the doors into the twilight and sighed. Hopefully the Koloss rumors wouldn't be too bad for business. -0- Aye, first game! Life's a bit busy, but when is it not? I'll do my best! Signing up as Sara, the new owner of the local tavern, since I didn't see tavernkeeper as a cosmetic option
  10. This might be a controversial take, but hear me out. Much of Demoux's character arc centers around him trying to prove himself. He's a bit of an underestimated character for most of book one and two. In a male dominated society--which, even with the changes Brandon has made so far, it remains that way--what better way to heighten that underestimation by making Demoux female? Demoux would struggle trying to prove herself, looking up to Ham, now also female, as a role model and guide. The scene with Kelsier, Demoux, and Bilg in the caverns would leave an even bigger impact on Demoux as she not only fights, but defeats a man far bigger than herself, strengthening her faith in Kelsier. To me, it makes sense, and would be a perfect way for Brandon to have more female characters in the cast. Also, female Demoux should still fall in love with a woman in the end.
