  1. I had never really intended to do Reading Excuses, for a variety of reasons. (None of which should be taken to reflect negatively on any members of Reading Excuses, if they're reading this). Thanks for recommending though!
  2. Ok thanks, that's helpful. I think if anybody is interested I can put it on a PM.
  3. So, I had intended to start posting my book here (partially to inspire myself to write some more), but then I realized that this would make theoretically getting it published extremely difficult. Now, the odds of my ever publishing this book are slim to none. But on the one-in-a-million chance it got there, I would hate to have accidentally (or purposely, I guess) shot myself in the foot by posting it here. So. Any workarounds anybody can think of?
  4. On the internet, yes, but my family will attest to the fact that I... am generally not troubled in the low-self-esteem department. I'm not obnoxious as such, just... confident.
  5. So, I had planned to wait until the last second to vote and then just do it as a protest vote for whichever of my three favorites got the least, or to tie one of my favorites with another if that unlikely eventuality were to happen, but The Princess Bride is getting shamefully close to LOTR so my plans have changed.
  6. I didn't count it three times, only once It slipped in anyhow.
  7. Mostly looks quite good, well done. That said, I can't stand the idea of Woody Harrelson as Breeze
  8. If it makes you feel any better, I am a born-and-raised English speaker and I also thought it meant that.
  9. Between the two, I'd go with Interstellar.
  10. Fair enough. Fadran gets credit. It was worth a shot though
  11. Woah! I'm gone for less than a week and this happens! Frankly, I think I'll take credit.
  12. The Brandons have arrived. Better late than never! Here are your top 10 nominees. Vote for only one. If you like a particular film in a nominated series, just vote for that series regardless of how much you like the other films in the series. Voting will close... January 17th at 11:59 AM EST, arbitrarily. The winner will then be named The Shard's All-Time Favorite Film!
  13. Ooh some good ones in there.
  14. Change.
  15. I'll do it. @Knight of Iron for Least Nominated Sharder. Which then puts him out of contention. Hmm. We may have problems with this category.
  16. Reviving this thread after a few days with a... MERRY CHRISTMAS!
  17. *flexes in Bull Moose*
  18. Unfortunately not, but I gotta say I wish I could speak Polish, because that cover art is AWESOME.
  19. Just an FYI, I won't have access to my computer from the 26th until January 1st, so I should probably be in the last battle. Looking forward to it!
  20. My first instinct was just to go with some songs by the Proclaimers because they're my favorite band, but then I realized I agree with you and that I wouldn't necessarily go with my 'favorite' songs. I think I'd listen to various worship songs and hymns, ending with "Amazing Grace" Also, by the way, Interstellar (both the film and the soundtrack) is absolutely brilliant. You have good taste.
  21. I will be on vacation until January the 2nd, so nominations won't be announced until then. They will still officially close on the 31st... but I'm likely to accept any made after that until January 2nd.
