Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
Illwei replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
No wait but like in half seriousness wilson if you don't wanna ever give me a power role again like I am A-okay with that because roles that affect other people seriously stress me out so I also like having the freedom of being vanilla and doing whatever not worrying that I'm losing town a good role. Hey! plus since you outright said that, I now have no fear of being NKd in one of your games because the Elims will know I'm not a powerful role!- 1222 replies

Anniversary Game 7/Anonymous Game 9: From Embers, A Flame
Illwei replied to Elbereth's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr >:(... Can we go....halfsies?? :P. I think that it's a lot easier for GMs, or spectators, or even the dead to look at a game objectively. It's hard to do that when you're the one in the middle of it, and even harder when you are completely unaware that your actions are hurting people until you read the dead doc. I can look at what I did this game and point out things that I didn't want I think the main thing that bothered me about reading the dead doc was that I was completely unaware the I was being harmful until I reached the doc. I was going to say something earlier, but I saw that Fura mentioned it in the dead doc. I don't know the official progression if there is one here, but on my robotics team when there was a problem, the first step was always to talk to the other person there was a problem with. Only after that would you go to the captain, a mentor, the coach, if you couldn't resolve it between yourselves. If there isn't some form of grievance system, then I think that's a problem here. Things like what happened to Dingo (and people like me saying that they didn't like what was happening) I feel like could have been avoided if there was a standard for how anything like this should be approached. What happened here in my case is that people were hurt by me. They then did not let me know. I had no clue that I hurt them. I then go to the dead doc and find out that more than one person thought that how I was going about things was harmful? I do want to say that I understand that maybe players couldn't have let me know in this setting, but I agree with Fura that there was a big issue with communication. If they had come to me and clearly explained what the problem was, would there have been a better outcome? Maybe. If that isn't reasonable, why wouldn't it be okay for an IM to step in? When does a playstyle reach the point where Harmful is Harmful enough for the IM to get involved? If the GM/IM is asked to help with a problem/intervene when is it okay for them to say no?- 1222 replies

I want to say that I'm sorry about how I behaved with my Shard, and I'm sorry that I hurt people with it. I'm not going to say that I was the worst option for Prudence. I originally had that in this statement. I don't think I made the absolute best choices I could have made, but it's hard to look at things objectively when you're in the middle of things, and as I said before, the only thing I can do now is try and make sure I don't make those mistakes in future games. The best I can do now is try and be more self aware of my actions in the future, as they were quite hypocritical, in more ways than one. -- I would also like to ask something: If I ever say anything in a PM with you, or in the thread to you, or anywhere to you, and it really bothers you, or hurts you, please let me know. I have a hard time trusting people on what they say in the middle of games when the whole point of the game is about lies and manipulation and whatnot, but I also can't correct my actions if I don't understand I'm doing something that is hurting people. A lot of what I say are jokes. Especially in PMs, probably at least 75% of what I say is completely intended as a joke, and I apologize if it doesn't come off that way.- 1222 replies

Well then we are being fed two stories. I was told that he knew he could win- In most outcomes he could win, so therefore he wanted to play fun, leaving it up to you. I could tell you the possibilities, but I don't see why you can't think of them for yourself. I will let you do that. Reading through this I don't see a lot. I see you restating, over and over, that he could have won. There was a path to victory, and he could have taken it. He told this to me. I don't know what he's telling you, but I am more than willing to share the messages that he sent me stating exactly that. I did not claim responsibility for your emotions, nor will I. If someone is not comprehending the situation it isn't me. Though I don't think that you are. I think that you are being fed a false narrative, and I can't do anything about what you think about the game because of that. I also agree that the definition we have for "Gamethrowing" is incredibly vague. but "Gamethrowing" is "by its most basic and all-encompassing definition, is knowingly playing against your win-condition." That is easy enough to follow. I think that if you are playing against your wincon, and you are going about it actively and intentionally, then you should take a step back, take a look at the game you signed up for, and reconsider. I don't think it should be too hard to figure that out. My personal line, for further reference, is doing something that will intentionally hurt your team, to the point that it sets them back, and makes it so they either can't win, or it's hard for them to win. If I were to, in a situation where the village is clearly going to win, change my actions in a way that it maybe sets things back a but the village will still wins? I don't consider that to be a problem.

The main point I had was that I didn't think that Breaker should have made that move in the first place, and I believed that you would side with Breaker in his onions. So the "He" there, was referring to Breaker, and not you. I agree that in the end there a win wouldn't mean anything. The moment Breaker revealed in thread everything felt meaningless to me. I can Understand this view, but also the view of everyone who worked for that win. Yes it was handed to you there at the end, but that wasn't the problem to me. I know that personally i put in a lot of work, and the fact that you, at the end there, sided with him because you were friends? It felt like a punch. It felt like nothing I did mattered. It felt like I wasted hours on this game because someone was throwing, for "fun". I understand that at the end there it felt to you like you were having fun- I definitely saw that, and I'm glad that this ending was fun for you. Again, this is definitely more of a problem I had with what Breaker did than what you did. I don't like that you sided with Breaker, but my main issue was I didn't like what Breaker did. 1) I definitely didn't mean it like that, and I apologize it came across like that. I did not mean for you to sacrifice fun for winning. But I did mean my above comment. 2) I appreciate this, but also I definitely wouldn't consider "gamethrowing" a playstyle. Maybe this is a matter of opinion. To me, How you approach the completion of your wincon is a playstyle. Actively/Intentionally going against that wincon in a way that will most certainly make your team lose? I don't consider that a 'playstyle'. Maybe a matter of opinion. All in all, I am thoroughly tired. I don't intend to hurt you with anything I say, I don't intend to attack or antagonize you at all. I apologize if anything I say comes across that way.

I do think you mean LG69, as LG68 was your Elim game, where you were executed Great Job Breaker :P. If this game has a Lesson for me, I think it would be 1) trust my gut reads more than I do right now, which is not at all :P. Of course I don't wanna follow them blindly, but I don't want to ignore them like I definitely did in this game, and 2) Try not to keep my plans to myself, and remember to get on before rollover :P. Now to look through the Elim doc :P. (and the GM spreadsheet where I'm told I'll find a nice distribution that should have existed where I'm on the Elim team as well :P)

Currently re-reading the cycles, on C2 rn. Quinn was the first or second to start up on Danex again. I found it strange that she avoided him for so long, but I don't think she would bus him so fast when there were people like me actively trying whatever to save him, and especially considering MR47. Gears He wasn't on Lotus D1, He was on Danex D2 and 3, and both Quinn and Lotus placed meaningless votes on him. My problem with this is that his interactions with Quinn feel genuine. they are familiar with eachother though, so...not sure how much weight that can hold. I just wanna be a sheep my dudes but Mat has turned off the mindmeld with going after Danex :/. P.S Honestly, I think the last Elims are in Devo, Mat, Gears, and Breaker. I do have village reads on Breaker and Mat for right now, so I'm okay with killing either Devo or Gears this cycle. P.P.S found this little fun guy: not sure how to feel about Mat about it. What am I supposed to say though. I had TMI reads on Lotus, Quinn, and Striker in the beginning? smh. :P. P.P.P.S. @TJ Shade Gears, Devotary went back and took a look at the VC. In interest of not spreading out the vote. P.P.P.P.S. These edits are getting out of hand, but I realized too late that people probably wouldn't be up rn to respond to me ;-;. Anyways. Potentially Mat/Archer interaction Imo. (Comfbias? is that you? :0) with James expressing suspicion of both, and Quinn, Despite having more info on Mat (especially Elim!Mat, as they have been teamed recently) Only adresses the Archer suspicion. Of couuuuuuurse then he goes and joins me on Striker riiiiight after this MAT WHY ARE YOU BEING SO HARD TO REAAAAAAAAAAD :P. P.P.P.P.P.S. *sigh* Something that kinda pings me about James (Agh! stop tinfoiling, Illwei!!!!) is that he uses "we" and "our" in terms of things that individuals in the village are doing. It's probably just me, but that makes me think that's he's trying to get across the point that he's "one of us" too much. I would say "LAMISTing but I absolutely hate that term tbh."

I'm not wanting to kill any of those people right now, TBH. It doesn't make sense to me, however much Mat likes WGGs, for the Elims to hit mat, unless he expressed suspicion of Archer in their PM. Connie is still one of my village reads. She was attacked N1, and I don't think it was a WGG. I think it was a reasonable kill for Quinn to want to make. Burnt- the only reasoning is Lotus-which doesn't technically mean anything really, and that she's a brown, which doesn't mean anything really. so I don't see that. -- On the subject of James. Here's the thing. - Townslip in the beginning of the game - Theory involving the grey Ajah's that would require tinfoiling to think otherwise - James/Order interactions. So for james to be an Elim it means that he would have had to faked that. @The Unknown Order What are your reasonings against James?

Maybe, maybe not? Do the Elims seem like they care a lot about roles? who were their kills. - Connie : Low poster, not widely village or elim-read - Liranil : Green. a threat. - Matrim : Outed Warden. - Books : Low poster, (village read?) Where are these kills coming from? Breaker, could anything convince you to keep the target completely secret, even from gears?

Don't mind me, just thinking aloud. Hm. See, so I think that one of James/Devo is an Elim. By votes. I don't....And James seems like the more likely person. I.... I'll be back eventually later today.

Mat, Gears, Breaker, Archer, Order, James, Burnt, Illwei, Danex, Devo, Connie, Orlok 12 People left, I'm assuming 10 - 2. If we misshrek today, then we go down to 8-2 most likely (ignoring Warders.) that's still pretty comfortable imo. If we mishrek two people today... we go down to 7-2 most likely, and then 5 - 2 and then E/lo after that, if there aren't still vote manips alive to mess it up. So. We have both outed Vote Manips. I say we put two people up today, and ask them not to interfere with that. Why Orlok?
