  1. I'd say it's the choice of the dying person. I imagine it being like donating an organ. Like, in a "I'd die anyway, have my allomancy" way. You're right, it's a really tough question and I don't know how I would think about it if it ever affected me or my loved ones but right now, I'd say you can choose to be spiked and when to be spiked. And there are even more problems: We don't know if there is any pain involved with spiking a person. For all we know, it could extremely painful. (Tin-Medallions perhaps for storing sense of pain?) And you would have to make sure that the donor is alive and actively kill them.
  2. I agree with them on that I too would prefer feruchemy because I think it would prove more useful in day to day life (while being overall not as flashy as allomancy) because it enhances or dampens aspects of yourself in a very controllable manner whereas allomancy gives you new powers which you 1) have to adjust to and 2) sometimes just can use in "magic" situations. If I had to choose though, I'd say I would be either an Oracle (Electrum) or a Slider (bendalloy). Electrum because I'm really bad at deciding (example 1: I chose not to choose between two metals) and it would be cool to see some of the consequences of my choice beforehand and bendalloy because Time Stop. Duh,
  3. I imagine it could be possible to inherit a power from a dying person. Picture it like that: A dying father lies on his deathbed, his children around him. One kid gets his house, one kid gets his company and one kid gets his allomantic/feruchemic power. I think it could be possible to buy a power from an already dying person (obviously the family gets the money) since they don't have a use for it anymore.
  4. Like somehow getting Connection to Preservation?
  5. But do we know how one could distill the mists if they were strictly made of Preservation?
  6. Hi! So, I recently had the thought whether it was possible to condense mist into lerasium and how to achieve it. Could you somehow trap or concentrate it so that it turns into lerasium? Please share your thoughts about whether or how this would work.
  7. Keep reading. It's worth it! I think, sneaking them in as a birthday present would count as spreading the holy words pretty efficiently
  8. Oh, you're in for a treat! I'd say that the Mistborn books have one of my favourite magic systems in the cosmere. Have fun! And you're welcome Birthday present sounds like a good idea! Gotta spread the holy words!
  9. A friend of mine actually forced me to read the books. One time we met he handed me TWoK and said: "You're gonna read this." I'm not one to easily convince to read a book, not because I don't like reading but because I'm ultra hyper mega picky. So he literally guilted me for 2 weeks straight into reading it. And when I got to the triple digits page mark, I couldn't stop. I was in fact so hooked, that when I saw that I would have read TWoK before going on holiday, I texted him at night: "Hey, book is good, we're going on vacation but I have TWoK finished." And he let me pick up the other 3 books. I spent a whole week just reading. Also yes, all 6 Mistborn books are available in Germany. Where in the story are you right now (So I don't spoil) and what are you thinking?
  10. Thanks for the welcome! I'd say the translation is good but considering that RoW willl be my first english stormlight book, I can't really say. They were good enough to found my love for Brandon's books though. But now I'm too impatient to wait for the translation. It would torture me to wait until the TWO german books are released. It's really hard, isn't it? Brandon is so unfairly unknown in Germany! I could count the number of Sanderson fans I know on my hand! But it's really satisfying when you meet another fan in person. About two years ago, I went to the town hall to get apprval for my drivers license and, because I rightly expected to wait a fair bit, I took my "Stürme des Zorns" (or Words of radiance .5) and read. It was really an experience when the guy I sat next to started to talked to me and I think we talked about an hour about the cosmere. How did you get into the cosmere?
  11. Problem fixed! Seems like I somehow nessed up. Your link didn't work either, so I thought I'd copy it in discord and join this way. That worked, so I doubt there is any problem with your links. (But to be sure: I clicked on the "connect"-button at the Discord box)
  12. Oh. I just thought the Admins would know this with their divine knowledge. I needed proof?
  13. Well, would you? Unless you died of course?
  14. Which Brandon books have you read? Do you have by chance a favourite one?
  15. Yesterday, I finished my reread of Alloy of Law and I (as a German) was really confused by the whole "aluminum" thing without the second i because in German, we say "Aluminium". So I'd say I'm an "aluminium"-guy
  16. I'm new here and wanted to join the discord but the invitation link seems not to work. I click on "connect" and I accept the invitation but then it says the invitation is invalid. Is there a newer link I have to click on or did I do something wrong?
  17. Thanks! That really calms me down. I read all 3 Stormlight books, currently on my reread on Mistborn era 2, I read Warbreaker and Elantis years ago and I read one or the other short story (arcanum unbounded).
  18. Hi Guys, since I have to announce my existence via creating this (so, hi! I exist! ), I thought I'd also pose an urgent question: When crating my account, instead of putting a shoe on my head, I did this with a slipper. Of course, I yodeled my hardest and poorest but is my soul safe? I'd rather not discover it being sold for a bagel. Please help! I'm considering my posting cherry popped now All hail Adonalsium PS.: I have realized that I apparently did this wrong. So, hi everyone, I'm Tekiny, 19 Years old german cosmere-lover. I have read every book of Brandon that got published here in Germany but since I am impatient as hell and conveniently speak and read English good enough, I proceed to consume everything Cosmere-related directly from the souce, so to speak. Really looking forward to Stormlight 4 and definitely not willing to wait for german translators to get into action.
