Your brain has and will continue to lie to you. However, an argument could be made that you are your brain, and therefore you are lying to yourself despite your worst and best intentions.

Granted. Your enemy dies of natural causes many decades in the future. I wish to be a good friend of Hoid that is unaging and immortal, has not become a Shardbearer, has not sworn an oath of non-interference, and consistently has positive interactions with Hoid. -
Dr. Gears put his writing utensil back in his pocket and left the masquerade behind. The head scholar of the guild was leaving, so Dr. Gears trailed behind.

Patterns The equations that govern the universe are inscribed within a Pattern that lies trembling on the hand of a man who is older than legends and fables and lore. He speaks Truths, and the Pattern spirals, and all stories have been told before. The only things new are the names.

The automaton turned away from the counter and sat at an empty table. It needed to run several maintenance, and here was as good a place as any.
-
The automaton reached out and picked up the glass, bringing it to eye level. The electricity did not seem to be at dangerous levels, so it poured the liquid down its throat. The sparks were too weak to do anything but interrupt its current for a brief moment, and they seemed to charge its battery a little. A pleasant experience over all. "It was good," it said to the bartender.
-
The automaton stared at the bartender, contemplating. Perhaps it could stay here for a moment and sample some of the provisions the restaurant had to offer. After a furious debate of pros and cons, it placed another coin on the counter and said, "I would like to try some of these 'sparks'."
-
A coin rolled out of what appeared to be an arm and fell onto the counter. "Is this sufficient payment?" it asked, the screeching in its voice much reduced.
-
The gears and wires contemplated the container, then poured it down what could be construed as a mouth. "Satisfactory," it told the bartender, "though slightly more flammable than my usual oil."
-
The metal object tilted its head-like appendage and said, "Regardless of your capabilities to 'stir something up', I require motor oil."

Granted. Your superpower is the ability to always insert the USB stick the right way first try. Your bane is that everyone pesters you to put their USB sticks in their devices. You never have a moment's rest. I wish that I have a copy of every book that Brandon has ever and will ever write in a format that I can understand and talk about without being rendered incapable of reading the books, listening to the books, or any other method of absorbing the information contained within the books. -
A collection of gears and wires walked into the restaurant. With a shriek of metal grinding past metal, it said, "Do you offer motor oil?"

Is anybody else worried about Hoid?
Gears replied to Spren of Kindness's topic in Cosmere Discussion
This is storming amazing! Absolute gold! Somehow, I'm even more excited for Radiant Hoid. -
Dr. Gears exited the Scholar's Guild and headed towards the masquerade. Everyone was there, and he needed to learn the habits of the people he was to interact with. As he approached, screams of pain reached his ears. It seemed that the party had devolved into a fight. That seemed to be par for the course in the Alleys, but it was unfortunate that he had not gotten to observe most of the battle. Witnessing people utilizing Investiture was a major priority. He walked towards the sounds of battle and watched the goings-on with a detached manner. As the battle raged, he took notes.

How did you figure out about the cosmere
Gears replied to Knight of Iron's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Hoid showed me the way. All hail! Basically, I discovered the cosmere by realizing that Hoid, my absolute favorite character, showed up in multiple, theoretically independent book series. -
Running water. Metal. Klein bottles. Falling face first into a snowdrift on a mountaintop. Cold. Fire. Ink. The scent that lingers after waking up from a vivid dream. Melting sand. When the rain is approaching and the clouds are gathering in the sky. Salt. Feathers. Ash.

Gears replied to Spren of Kindness's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Maybe. Picture Hoid tripping over his own Shardplate boots because they're so heavy. And if the Plate is invisible, it will look even stranger. -

Gears replied to Spren of Kindness's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Yes. I can't even imagine it. The idea of Hoid in a clunky suit of armor just doesn't make sense. How will he pull his dastardly schemes if he's weighed down by Shardplate? -

But since it's Hoid, he'll probably have become a 5th Oath Radiant in the timeskip between books 3 and 4. Think about how many truths he could say. -

Gears replied to Spren of Kindness's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I hope we see at least one of Hoid's truths on screen. If they all happen in timeskips or offscreen, I will be incredibly disappointed. -
Brilliant. I always thought the reasoning behind the Recreance was a little shallow. So they conquered the planet, subjugated the native people, and lied about it to everyone. Surely some of them wouldn't care. This theory fits perfectly.

He and his new Cryptic will get along like a house on fire! (And by that, I mean both the positive and negative connotation). Hopefully they won't burn the cosmere down with them. -
Dr. Gears walked up to the Scholar's Guild, debating the pros and cons of joining. Pros: Access to compendium of knowledge. Cons: Tied to a Guild. There were other, minor criteria he was contemplating, but they were unimportant. After some analysis, he came to the conclusion that the association with a Guild was a minor price to pay for access to this vast store of knowledge. His Aviar chirped softly, but no corpses appeared in the near vicinity, so he opened the door and walked in. The halls appeared to be devoid of scholars, presumably because of the masquerade that he had seen earlier. He continued forward, exploring the building. He would need to know this place well if he wanted to learn all that it had to offer.

The Scholar's Guild seems like it will fulfill my needs. I will go find that thread.

Greetings. I have recently created a character and gotten it approved. What is a good thread for an emotionless, amoral scientist that is trying to assimilate the entirety of cosmere knowledge?
