  1. HEY! The thread wasn't updating right. Uh... I'll be back tomorrow. With more time and brainpower.
  2. Faleast was taken aback. He’d thought he’d layered his disguises pretty well - some of them were even fake. But, they still knew it was him. That was just great. Face it, Faleast. You’re… promising, but you can’t replicate a thousand years of experience. AraRaash? Yeeeees? Shut up. No can do, sir. If I’m stuck in here you’re stuck with me. That doesn’t… never mind. This would take a while. Hello! I don’t have a lot of time right now, but I did follow the thread and am in existance. And I don’t like the Hot-Footed Frog idea, mainly because Elims might put in an order for them, and if that ends up with Beedle claiming to the Elim team… I’m not sure whether the Elims want Beedle dead or not, but I’d rather not find out. Plus I’d rather avoid any chance of Beedle thinking an Elim is Link and accidentally outing Zelda (or vice versa). I’d recommend Beedle take a Durian for themselves.
  3. I've got an idea for a kandra game. Probably an MR. Might try and run that this summer, actually... probably doing Unmade first though.
  4. You know... change of plan upon actually reading the rules instead of the meme. Playing as Derrick, a happy-go-lucky steel guider who's finally found a chance for his voice to lead to some change. Or, well, voices. Sometimes there's more than one. (Derrick is Faleast and AraRaash mixing personalities, to... mixed results.) And @Kasimir... would you say the Workers have communist leanings? Perhaps not a revolution, but lean that way?
  5. ... that doesn't seem to be stopping anyone else :ph34r;
  6. Kas was... quoting... me... Kas, I swear if you're joining the Kandra Club I... I don't even know. Be slightly disappointed and slightly honored I guess Is the correct format to use the punctuation with the emoji or just the emoji...
  7. I take it the LoZ discord has heard some talk of the SEverse ... And yup, there's Bip confirming that. Anyway, welcome to Sanderson Elimination! Usually we play games around Brandon Sanderson's works, but we occasionally do other works and things like this. If you need any advice on how to play, feel free to ask any of us. And a minor word as the Kandra Mob Boss © to all my... uh... compatriots: this is a non-Sanderson, Legend of Zelda world, so... please treat it as such? Hyrule's a pretty different place than Scadrial, and it's a big jump in logic for me to even bring Faleast here in the first place, not to mention a whole cohort of them. So... try not to run around doing kandra things all day and ignore the flavor of the world that Biplet and Striker have prepared for us. Plus from what I remember there's nothing shapeshifter-y in the world of LoZ (or Breath of the Wild-era LoZ) besides, well, the Yiga Clan... aka the Elim team. So feel free to play as a kandra, just be aware of what that kandra is doing in Hyrule and that they are, indeed, in Hyrule. Just a thought. (If you three new players are wondering, a kandra is essentially a nearly immortal shapeshifter, from Sanderson's Mistborn series. They are usually very controlled and purposeful and occasionally rather psychotic and murderous, unless of course you happen to be playing a game revolving around a lot of killing.)
  8. Thematically, the Yiga would be wiped out either by the last one in the castle dying or by the remaining Hylians afterward… but then Calamity Ganon arrives and with neither Zelda nor Link around, Hyrule doesn’t really stand any form of a chance against him. (Probably even with just Zelda gone honestly, but that’s besides the point.) So… is the Yiga’s goal to usher in the Calamity at any cost? If so, Elim win. Is their goal to survive to thrive in the Calamity? If so, probably a draw.
  9. For some reference for those who haven't played Breath of the Wild: Link: Zelda: Master Kohga: Mipha: Daruk: Revali: Urbosa: King Rhoam: Beedle: Yiga Clan in general: Here's hoping these photos actually copied in correctly...
  10. Mainly because there's only so many immortal shapeshifter things in Brandon Canon or cosmere, and Kandra are both the most well known and the best of them for infiltration. Others include Sleepless (Philico) and Siah Aimians, beings specifically immortalized by Shards like Heralds, Returned (Sunmaker), Fused (Dazrion), etc. Just give me an actual role and let me figure it out please the vanilla curse burns help
  11. Blessings are really just a pair of spikes (traditionally iron/copper/zinc/tin for Potency/Stability/Presence/Awareness, but any would work) sufficiently intertwined... somehow... to enhance a kandra's sentience/sapience. Everything a kandra can do is essentially what mistwraiths innately do, just purposeful.
  12. Rashek did it with the power of the Well (or rather, turned people into mistwraiths which a set of Blessings then turned into sapient kandra). So... actually, that would probably be within the power of a Shard to do. I doubt that's solely a Preservation thing. ... ooooh, Lamentation just kandrifying or otherwise immortalizing people would be very fun.
  13. Araris could probably contest the Kandra player at this point... but I've got the RP award and very much plan to keep it that way ... Kandra Spikes? Like a set of Blessings or a spike granting kandra-ness?
  14. I wonder if I can beat Age of Calamity before this game starts... Either way, Faleast and AraRaash are in! Probably not too much Lamentation Loredump (TM) this game as they are currently in a... very unusual timeline that Lamentation managed to find. But in the world of random magic, Triforces, and Master Swords I'm sure they'll find a way to keep each other busy
  15. So, my main hangup with this game is that it was highly incentivized for me to just... stay inactive. My role needed to get charges in order to kill or get a larger pool of players to choose to convert from, and that essentially meant I needed to not get executed. If you remember a few games ago, I played two Elim games where I didn't get voted on the whole time until I was finally outed. I did that by, essentially, not playing. Never really making a huge impact on the game, not really putting myself out there, and generally keeping a low profile and post count. Flying under the radar, if you will. I decided I didn't want to do that this game. I'd been playing a non-voting player for a long time, and I decided to change that up and vote for someone. ... didn't go so well. I'm still not sure where... any of the reasoning for the votes on me D1 were. The bits I can gather would be faulty anyway, because I didn't have any teammates to be protecting. Which happens, but as the only Elim I was rather frustrated, and had a non-negligible chance of just letting the game end C1. Because yeah, the game would have ended D1 if I lost that exe tie. I don't like ties, unless either 1) my vote is bringing someone I suspect more into the tie, or 2) I both actually suspect and equally suspect both parties. Or 3) I have ulterior motives to save/unsave someone. I guess I'll try to be more clear about what I want, but I decided to make a vote, found what reasoning I could for it, then nearly and eventually did get executed for it. Reason I didn't talk about it before is (surprise) I was an Elim in LG77, where the first real thing I did was vote to save fellow Elim Mat with the excuse of working to break the tie, which I was then called out on repeatedly. Would I have voted for Experience as a Villager? If I had decided to wake up for rollover and resolved to vote, then probably, but who knows. I'd probably have been more honest about it though. (Side note - nobody pointed out we executed two GMs in the first cycle of each other's games ) So for this game in the future: some way of having the solo Elim survive at least one exe might be a good idea. An extra life, or a way to use the "charges" I had to use for kills as extra lives instead. Or perhaps having the Conversion ability not be tied to my Stamps, so I could convert anyone to my side instead of just who I wanted dead. The ability for me to pass down the Forger role to my conversion target (Illwei) was a needed change to prevent them getting forced into that exe tie... which they did anyway, but a decent chance of avoiding that fate is needed. The rest of the ability is nice for an Arsonist role, but having a game end D1 isn't really fun for anyone. (For reference, the other main solo-Elim game was a full Mistborn player - they had a Thug extra life, a net +2 influence on the exe, and two night kills every cycle. Plus the rules meant there were no alignment flips. That's a little too strong without Village roles, but it left them with a large amount of control if they needed it.) For the players: there is some level of an inactivity problem. But that's rather augmented by the fact the first two cycles executed two players who had good promise to be active (and I converted one of the others, and Illwei chose the under-the-radar path) leaving there being one active Villager (Archer). So... be active? And keep in mind that contribution crusades are a viable strategy.
  16. Maybe a tap x3 for a redirect instead of a roleblock? I don't know how... thematic it would be, though. Oooh, what about tap x3 to roleblock all actions targeting self / a target player? Like... what the Firesoul does. Actually, that's exactly what the Firesoul does... would be cool though. Maybe make it affect any RNG-based effect... like exe ties, tap a chromium charge to add a ~10% chance for it to break the way the Spinner wants it to... or let each charge have some % chance of something happening the way the Spinner wants it to. Like 3 charges for a 15% chance for any kills targetting X to be roleblocked... That wouldn't make it less complicated, but it sure would be more powerful There was also a Skimmer who could make the Investigator useless if they found out who it was, thank you very much... Smaller Elim team means less chance of the Investigator hitting an Elim, but it also means a bigger Village Circle if PMs are open and each Elim death hurts more. The Thug did help balance it more, though. And it's also... kinda like the Skimmer/Leecher thing, the Investigator does for free every cycle what normally a Sparker has to slave away not voting for three cycles straight for. Sure, the Sparker can do a lot more with their charges than Alignment scan (role-scans are highly underrated in role madness games), but most people will still just save for that. I like this. The Hazekiller's ability is on point flavorwise, it's just... it's not even too powerful, it's just slightly better than two other things. I feel like in order to get to that point, though, either the Elims would have already figured out the new Kandra was among them, or the Kandra would have already vivisected most of the Elim team. It would be weird, but alignment changing in and of itself is weird, especially Elim-->Not!Elim. Plus the Elim team would know what had happened and the game would maybe go a cycle more. Especially since the Elims know each other's abilities and could probably do some tests to prove themselves, like we nearly did (except Bip couldn't prove anything and I was too proud of my proof which promptly puffed into Smoke). This could work, though. I would perhaps add the caveat that the Elims can only win over the head of an Elim turned Kandra. Not over the original Kandra, not over a Villager turned Kandra. So the Elims have to kill everyone who isn't in their doc. (Or, probably reach vote-manip-adjusted-parity and have the Kandra dead or in the Elim doc.)
  17. Okay, some rule thoughts (@StrikerEZ) I really like the Revised Kandra (kill every cycle, can choose a successor even if they are killed by something other than their own ability, Araris getting to talk to Mat... that ability being RB proof and not overwriting Spikes is nice but I think those were in the old version, just didn't show up). The only thing I'd think of adding would be to not letting either team win while the Kandra lives, to be a true SK - they'd still need to balance Elims and Villagers to win, but it would add a lot of pressure to the teams to actually worry about the Kandra (as it didn't really matter for us Elims whether Araris was the Kandra or a Coinshot). Or, potentially giving them a Charged Spike to start the game with that the successor could get. For the roles... the Skimmer's almost objectively inferior to the Leecher. Really the only advantage to using Skimming is that it can't be detected by Seekers, and that's at a pretty big cost of a charging ability. I do like it more than LG66's Skimming, but something that lets it stand out (like tapping multiple charges to Roleblock multiple people) would be nice. Also a more unique storing thing would be nice. The Spinner still confuses me greatly, and is the only ability that seems much less powerful in-game than the canon Fortune-manipulating thing. I was very surprised that the Investigator was actually in the game... I thought it was just a scary scary for the Elim team. Alignment scanners are dangerous, but they can work. Hazekiller is objectively better than both the Leecher and the Skimmer. I like the role, and I like the expanded non-Invested roles and the expanded set of roleblockers, but something that lets the Leecher or Skimmer be better in a circumstance than the Hazekiller would be nice.
  18. *Realizes he missed the last hoorah in the Elim doc.* ... oh well. Personally I wished I could have been more active here - for all the hype I had for RP this game, Faleast and AraRaash didn't... do too much. All I managed to buy was a Blackmail (which I used in the last turn to bounce whatever Archer did back into his face - that's what you get for being a Smoker and convincing Bip that I was the Kandra ). And while I managed to have AraRaash change a little detail, I didn't really get a chance to explain what it is. You'll see eventually. In the meantime... aside from Lotus dying, us Elims got incredibly lucky. Tineye + Investigator down D1, Araris getting outed and subsequently Skid, the tie breaking in favor of our Thug, getting the dangerous roles out quickly (Slider, Connector, Soulbearer, Lurcher), going on a shopping spree and getting a Slider Spike for Mat and a 2-use Coinshot Medallion for Bip (I got a rock), Kandra!Mat (AraMat?) not hijacking the kill, none of you target scanners or role scanners hitting us... Oh, and Mat, Bip, and I tying each other together like a five-legged race and not getting caught until it was too late. I nearly used my Blackmail to redirect Bip onto Dannex or onto Archer, in an attempt to "correct" Kandra!Bip's kills or get a double. But I just did Archer->Archer and waited to die.
  19. … everything went according to plan? Huh. On mobile right now so I’ve got more for later, but great game everyone! And Skimmer, Drake. I was a Skimmer.
  20. Well, I’d feel bad about dragging you from pleasant retirement again and Lotus was wondering when she’d get to run her game and I… Yeah, if you have time and will to run the game you can just go ahead and claim the spot. I’ll have time in the future. (Although ironically, it might be easier for me to run games over the school year than summer where I have part-time schedule craziness and randomly placed vacations… should be fine for the next MR slot though.)
  21. (I'll make a post after the LG ends (or maybe after I die there, idk) but suffice it to say I have thoughts. Most of which are expressed more eloquently in the Dead Doc or... slightly less eloquently in the Elim Doc, but my overall opinions tie into my LG behavior somewhat so I'll wait a bit.) Suffice to say, I loved the premise, but execution could have gone better from both my standpoint, the rules standpoint, and a general meta (shudders) standpoint. More on that later.
