  1. A perfect gem has a huge capacity, enough to hold Ba-Ado-Mishram. There's a WoB that "infinite" power doesn't mean infinite amounts available in infinitesimal time (to use calculus terminology), just available without limit but at a finite rate. Overnight in a highstorm wouldn't supply Investiture equal to that of The Thrill, it would take many highstorms to fully charge the King's Drop.
  2. I'm on record here as saying the Stormlight Archive lost a lot of its impact for me when Brandon started making a tale of gods and only gods, with normal people (like the Sadeas family) too unimportant to be worth the page count to include.
  3. So you're implying (OK, Brandon is implying) that Mishram is a Splinter of Virtuosity, unmade by Odium?
  4. Note that this is an all-Cosmere spoilers-allowed forum. Depending on the time period, Hoid is also a Radiant and an Elantrian. He can use Yolen-style Lightweaving. If he's Topaz from Dragonsteel Prime he can use microkinesis. He can apparently send his consciousness to the Spiritual Realm to commune with the spirits of dead dragons (with the help of a tamukek). And, most importantly, he's a Dawnshard, or former Dawnshard, again depending on the period. On another note, I'd love to know what you meant to write in that penultimate sentence about sex organs.
  5. "Awakened" metalmind could just mean in the sense that Vasher Awakens cloth to defend him. It doesn't necessarily mean "sapient" metalmind.
  6. You triggered a thought: does Hoid work under so many different names, none of them his real one, specifically to avoid letting people's beliefs about him change him?
  7. He's wrong. Remember, the Vorin retroactively change names to make them match Vorin ideas of symmetry, as with real Nale becoming Nalan. The moderns like Kabsal believe the fake names and use them as evidence for Vorinism.
  8. Easy. Use an Elsecalling fabrial so someone can just reach a hand out and have it be in the Tower.
  9. You triggered a scary thought. Use them to imitate the ability of Bondsmiths to open a Perpendicularity. Infinite Investiture!
  10. Actually, Kaladin has summoned Syl as a huge hammer and as a spiked shield, which certainly weigh more than her usual Blade form.
  11. Feel justified, my friend. Brandon says almost exactly this in a YouTube video.
  12. Post Wind and Truth, the Roshar contingent could bring along some Supressor fabrials that stop all the metallic arts. It would be a natural development from the ones that stop all Radiant Surgebinding (but not Honorblades) like the one Moash uses.
  13. Navani, always analytical, has figured out that old-school fabrials like Soulcasters have a volunteer sapient spren living in them, who voluntarily spends centuries in that useful role. I would argue that a (person called a) Soulcaster has something similar to a Nahel bond with their (device called a) Soulcaster. They aren't just using a machine, even if they think they are.
  14. Both Ba-Ado-Mishram and the Sibling still exist. Both can provide Investiture. I'd be amazed if the Nightwatcher can't. Consider also: what Investiture is powering Ishar's magic that puts the Heralds and their guests in the Spiritual Realm while their bodies are on Braize? Presumably the Heralds can now draw on Honor's (that is, Retribution's) Investiture again, as they did before the breaking of the first Oathpact. Also, there was incredibly clear foreshadowing at the end of WaT that Sylphrenia is the Stormfather's heir. Kaladin looks in her eyes and sees a literal storm. Don't be shocked if the "corrupted" Radiants, like Renarin and Rlain, can draw Investiture from the Everstorm.
  15. So, none of you have my specific crack theory that Autonomy absorbed some of Ambition's Investiture? What she expects from people seems to be very Ambitious. People like Mr. Suit and Telsin have in common very much that they show ambition, right? If Uli Da abandoned her Intent, it has to be somewhere. Major parts of Adonalsium wouldn't just vanish from the Cosmere. Is Autonomy already a double-shard like Harmony and Retribution?
  16. Spoiler below for Warbreaker:
  17. This raises a new question: can the living-but-not-Radiant Shardblades of the Unoathed shapechange, the way Syl does for Kaladin (become a spear, a shield, a big hammer ...)?
  18. @Jult, we saw that Hoid could use Yolen lightweaving on Nalthis. It would only be fair for him to teach that to Shallan, since he can now use Rosharan Lightweaving ....
  19. I have a proven history of being terrible at outguessing Brandon. That said: Shallan can meet Khriss, who has her own ways to Elsecall. She could trade her secret knowledge to Khriss in exchange for being dropped off in Azir. Or Azure. Or ....
  20. Well, Hoid can't die and has thousands of years of experience. Also, he's an eloquent, manipulative person with (depending on the era) magics borrowed from many planets. And he has powerful allies, like Sleepless and a Dragon. And he helped kill a god once. Unless Shards can participate ....
  21. He snapped? Kaladin is an allomancer now? Sorry, sorry.
  22. Iluvatar is the Christian God, conceived of as omnipotent, yes.
  23. The Twins are clearly (Stormlight spoiler): Seriously. OK, not seriously at all.
  24. Raoden is likeable as a person. I don't dislike him. The thing is, he's boring to some. Too perfect. I think there's some justice there.
  25. I'd recommend reading Isles. It's good and it's a quick read. If you're really curious, you could also read Tress of the Emerald Sea. I happen to think Tress is one of Brandon's best stories. And maybe even Dragonsteel Prime.
