  1. "Oh agreed most heartily. Farewell, and try not to get killed, please." He bows again and scurries off
  2. "Hello to you too, Lady Vapor. And to Lady Spin, Mysprenne, and Lord Jek. Now if you'll excuse me, I expect you don't want his Highness in a worse mood"
  3. Looks at tray. "Let's see... he's not in a good mood. Sorry. But I'm still new here, so I very well could be wrong" "Fitting, mi'lady. We need much more kindness around these caves" bows
  4. He stops and turns around. "To be honest, neither did I. Things around here are never quite what you'd expect." He trails off. "As to you, strange glowing person, it depends on whether his guests are being welcomed, imprisoned, tortured, or well... executed"
  5. As the party walks into the royal hall, a door bangs open to the side and a blue holed rushes out, holding a tray covered in food. "Out of the way, the king has ordered snacks!"
  6. Link is... Kelsier? He talks too much but if you gave him a sword... I'm trying to think of anyone that uses a bow
  7. The characters get me into a story, but it's the moments like that that keep me coming back for more. Vin's battle with the Inquisitors, I am Hope, the Elantris chasm line, and of course The Clap. Sanderlanches are his little aluminum traps to keep you there
  8. Yay, I got noticed! I think you made my point better than I could have. I do kind of see Kaladin and Adolin from sort of an outside perspective, but considering Kaladin's reactions to romance and sexuality in other places I don't think it fits well. Now, on characters we don't get a viewpoint for, at least when romance comes up, like Jasnah or Renarin, do whatever you want, I think. Edit:responding so I don't double post I love RenarinxRysn now. Both are some of my favorite characters. Thanks for that. Is it Renarysn? Rysnarin?
  9. Since this is now the Eragon thread, I enjoyed the first couple books when I read it in... sixth grade, I think. I lost track of most of the plot threads around the third book and didn't finish it. I recognized the tropes and cliches even then from things like Star Wars and Harry Potter. I think tropes and cliches are useful, it's just that there were *so* many. It very much felt like a reskinned Star Wars, which while still an admirable feat by Christopher Paolini, wasn't very enjoyable after a while. (Plus I think a character I liked got killed or something and I wasn't interested after that. I don't quite remember)
  10. I've really only been here, so I apologize to all other cosmere fan communities
  11. By playstyle, personality, or appearance?
  12. I'll be totally honest, I see both sides fairly well, but I err more on the side of not doing ship stuff. I like to speculate and theorize on what the future of characters is (like Kaladin and Venli, which still no one has responded to ), but whenever there is a canon ship, I see anything else as sort of... pointless, I guess? For example, If I see someone still shipping Luke and Leia and they're just choosing to ignore Return of the Jedi, I'd view that less as "using canon as a starting point" and more as just misusing the characters and hurting their own story. Same is true for Shallan and Kaladin. Now, an Alternate Universe where Luke and Leia aren't siblings and Han isn't there? I'll read it. An AU where Shallan's personality gets taken over by Veil? Dope, I'll read it. On a related note, relationships we don't get enough details on or that happen behind the scenes, I'm totally happy with. I ship Rashendi now, and I think people that ship Finn with Rey, Rose, or whoever the new girl is are all equally correct. On sexuality... I don't think that matters as much as some people make it (but I'm straight, so pinch of copper), and whatever you want to ship, just do it. I have some specific arguments against certain characters (why do people ship Kaladin and Moash?), but as long as what you ship makes you happy, go for it. I also think our fandom as a whole tends to not be ship centric. We're very Elsecaller/Truthwatchery as a whole and like to look for the "right" answer rather than make our own. I'm totally guilty of this. TL,DR, Ship what you want, it's not hurting anyone, we just suck at doing it
  13. And that was to say nothing of his impasta twin brother
  14. "Why did I sign up for this?"
  15. I'm a traditionalist so I ship what Brandon tells us to. But on the ones we don't know... Kaladin and Venli. This is probably no, but I love the idea of it. Venli needs a role model and someone who can protect and care for her, and I get the feeling we'll get to see more of her softer side in RoW with Timbre that Kal might need. Plus I always thought the rocks Tien liked were symbolic, and they had white and black swirls that remind me of Singers. There are other things too; they both feel trapped by duty, want to be free, love the power of storms, and want to protect both peoples. Plus I think Syl would like her and Timbre
  16. Hey guys, I was talking with some friends and someone came up with this idea. Join in anytime, I won't care too much what you do, but you know, try to be in character? Worldhopper characters are fine but I reserve the right to say things are too overpowered or just plain wierd. This takes place in Final Empire era Scadrial, so Radiants aren't around, but Elantrians, Awakeners, ... Sand Masters, I guess, and of course users of the Metallic Arts are all usable. Anyway, onto the expositionary introduction. No one knew exactly what had happened. The Lord Ruler had gone. Of course, he was normally solitary, but it had been months and he had not been seen. Rumors flew of an assassin who somehow overcame his divine abilities, or of him being called away to rule another world, or even if the return of the Deepness. But those questions were not asked. Not by noblemen, not by any obligators, and everyone was too afraid to ask the Inquisitors. The Inquisitors were acting oddly. It was hard to tell with those creatures, but they seemed even more insane to some of the obligators and noblemen that worked with them, snapping at unheard voices, breaking down walls and furniture, and even attacking a few who should have commanded them. If anyone connected this to the Koloss suddenly raiding the far towns near where they were kept, they didn't voice it out loud. The rebellion was small at the time, and while this change kept most skaa from joining, some saw it as a chance to throw off the oppression. And, while this timeline is very different from the one we know, some things always stay the same, as there were more and more rumors of a Survivor... The beginning Lord Tellen Nuell sat at the ball. He was new to Luthadel, having moved here shortly after the beginning of the Lord Ruler's disappearance. He was unusually blunt for a noble. Everyone already knew he was a Soother and was purportedly offering information on a mysterious intruder to Kredik Shaw for an exorbitant price. For now, though, he remains alone, reading a book over his food.
  17. I'm just going to go on record and say Rysn is among my favorite non-major characters in the Cosmere. i think Amaram is boring. Every time he comes up, the plot turns into "everyone is mad and Amaram tries to be smooth about it" and it's just not interesting, as well as a slight cliche device. I'm glad he's dead
  18. "Sounds like you are in a pickle"
  19. That's... very well thought out. I feel like you're leaving out the Unmade and whatever Odium has planned, but since we still know so little about those, I can't blame you. I feel like the crux of most of these arguments is the need for information. We still don't have enough even as the readers
  20. Brandon's comment above actually makes me think even more of this. The twelve tribes mention brings to mind A. Them being reunified later and B. There being a common thread that unites them all other than their origin
  21. Maybe it was an accident. Who knows? I'll be honest, I'd want to do some experiments. Do we know if it works with animals?
