Cadenza tripped, landing on her hands and knees. She made a face as she stood back up. "All right..." Making a smaller pathway beyond the reach of the old woman, she built up speed again.
Cadenza raised her hand instinctively, and a thin wall of ice followed. Both the shards of ice and the shield shattered upon impact. Cadenza took a deep breath in and restored the ice floor, then began to skate.
The fish finished and Pat took a big sniff. It didn't smell exactly like home, but it was close. She smiled and pawed one fish to Breeze, then picked up hers.
