"I beg to differ. There are a lot more annoying things." Cadenza shrieked and fell over.

Sicaria walked over, not-so-subtly inserting herself into their conversation.

Cadenza tugged harder, bracing herself with her skate blades, and made the ground under Trace extra slippery.

Sicaria caught the word 'recruiting' and looked in that direction. There were two people in a dark corner.

Cadenza pulled back. "Let go!"

"Hey, person. You the one who helped Trace get away?"

Sicaria walked in the door and immediately took in the people there.

"Aw, stop it, Trace." Cadenza tossed the ice at Trace.

"Capture."

Cadenza sprang to her feet and made another ball of ice.

Cadenza slicked the ground. It was at times like this that she could see why the academies had said she was "too weak" to make a good Duster. There wasn't much she could do in a split second. But she'd proved them wrong before. Now she'd do it again.

Cadenza fell over backwards and sat up. "Hey!" She rubbed her nose.

"Some friend of Jay's. He got us here." Cadenza fell through the air. Thankfully, she'd expected this. She spun in the air and landed on her feet, using her momentum to slide for a while.

Cadenza created a pillar of ice underneath her. She peeked over the edge and waved, smiling cheekily, then dropped a ball of ice over the edge, sending it at Trace.

"What if she couldn't? Jack knows how to get her back!"

"Stop! We've got to try to knock her out, then we can get Janice back!"

See, usually I'd have that. But this time, I had the Shard and all. So I was actually pretty great.

"Jack has a way to get Janice back."

"Uh... saving Janice here. She's the one I'm closest to."

"Um... no way I'm just going to go with you."

"So why not do it before?"

"Me again? I mean, I get that Janice and I are pretty close, but apparently I don't know much about her."
