Alaxis felt the boy get some kind of glimpse into them and grew fiery orange. How dare he!? He would have to die, like all the others. Needless bloodshed... They stepped forward, swinging overhead at Owlson, to knock him out. The shield shatters into pieces again, that fly off to rejoin with their body—but instead of rejoining, Alaxis formed them into sharp shards and redirected them at the Darkest of Nights whilst he dealt with Owlson. @Tesh

Alaxis felt the boy attempting to Harvest them, and resisted. Not today. A small piece of the shield blocking their way turned pointed and shot itself at the boy's notebook, an attempt to distract him.

"Zanidar!" Orpheus hissed angrily. "A little help?" Dᴏ NOT ʙʟᴀᴍᴇ ᴍᴇ, Dᴀʀᴋᴇsᴛ ᴏғ Nɪɢʜᴛs! Tʜᴇ ᴏɴʟʏ ʀᴇᴀsᴏɴ Aʟᴀxɪs ᴄᴀɴ ᴀᴄᴛ ᴛᴏ sᴜᴄʜ ᴇxᴛᴇɴᴛ ɪs ʙᴇᴄᴀᴜsᴇ ᴛʜᴇ Exᴏᴅᴜs ᴀᴄᴛᴜᴀʟʟʏ ᴋɴᴏᴡs ʜᴏᴡ ᴛᴏ ᴄʜᴀɴɴᴇʟ ʜɪᴍ! Orpheus closes his eyes and tries to channel his demon, to control his powers. He felt a small surge of strength and stamina, and his eyes turned a soft violet, but otherwise nothing of import occurred. I ɴᴇᴇᴅ... sʟᴇᴇᴘ... Alaxis notices the change in Orpheus's eye color and laughs. "Tʜᴇʀᴇ ʏᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ, ᴏʟᴅ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅ." "Down the road eastward some, after that, I have no clue!"

"I—uh, I don't know! He's going to the dragonlands, like we're supposed to—" Orpheus was interrupted as a giant shield flew above their heads and landed in between their party and the tower. He immediately attempted to move around it, but it slid across the ground to block him, following his movements. He glanced back. The demon was considerably smaller, still a little taller than the average human, but that didn't make him any less dangerous. "I sᴀɪᴅ, sᴜʀʀᴇɴᴅᴇʀ." Orpheus whimpered in fear, and the demon laughed at them. @Trutharchivist

Cruz smiled. "As soon as I kill the Queen, I'll get right on it."

Cruz nodded quietly. "I think I would quite like that. You and I, we're not so different."

Exodus's thoughts were interrupted by the grunting of the dozen dark elves surrounding him. He pointed his hands at them and shouted at them in Elvish to stand down. They ignored him, and charged, swinging their maces, chanting quietly among themselves the Elvish word for food... He pointed his right hand at the elves to his right and, at his command, a streak of ice shot out of his enchanted ring into their faces. "It's time to shine," he said calmly, smiling, then he thrust forth his other hand, shooting out a wave of red fire in the other direction. "He left," said Orpheus, as he walked back with Owlson, "with two others of our company. Quite a bit ago, actually." "Eɴᴏᴜɢʜ ᴛᴀʟᴋ!" The demon turns towards Orpheus, who is right behind Owlson. "Yᴏᴜ ᴀʀᴇ ᴛʜᴇ ᴏɴᴇ I ɴᴇᴇᴅ. Sᴜʀʀᴇɴᴅᴇʀ ᴀɴᴅ ʏᴏᴜʀ ғʀɪᴇɴᴅs ᴅᴏ ɴᴏᴛ ʜᴀᴠᴇ ᴛᴏ ᴅɪᴇ."

Cruz thought for a moment. "If I would have someone to spend it with."

"Neither do I, doesn't mean we can't have it."

Cruz nodded in understanding. "Usually, they say it's a bad thing, wanting to die. Yet almost no one actually wants to live on this place forever."

Exodus glanced at Minuet, hesitant to let her without a weapon, but nodded instead. He knew how much damage one could do with just some magic. A dozen or so silvery elves approached them from the side, armed with maces, chains, and axes. Continuing to run was no longer a viable option. "Owlboy, we need to get away..." Orpheus whispers, clutching his knife as if it would do anything to protect him or Owlson. The demon stared. "Uʜ... ʜᴇ's ᴘᴜʀᴘʟᴇ? Yᴏᴜ ᴀʟʟ ᴡᴇʀᴇ, ʟɪᴋᴇ, ᴊᴜsᴛ ɪɴ ᴄᴏɴᴛᴀᴄᴛ ᴡɪᴛʜ ʜɪᴍ."

Alaxis's arm rearranges into a fairly sturdy shield and blocks Talnic's strike, then pushes forward suddenly and forcefully, getting close into Talnic's face. The shield then rearranges into a flurry of knives which dart in straight lines towards Talnic. "Gɪᴠᴇ ʜɪᴍ, ᴀɴᴅ I ᴡɪʟʟ ᴅᴇᴘᴀʀᴛ ɪɴ ᴘᴇᴀᴄᴇ."

Coming from a guy in a fake beard to hide from the..." he lowered his voice, "The entire town that would arrest me for my past mistakes."

Cruz hissed as only a snake Sylven can in response. Then chuckled. "Nah, I know what you mean. And you're only called Trace because of... well, traces?"

"Ah," Cruz nodded in understanding. "So... this is really the first time since the dawn of time you've had a chance to live a life as yourself?"

"You've lived a long time, surely you would know something about meaning? Or even just that there isn't."

"Yeah, but I can't even steal someone's Aspect... though I would if I could," he said, "But seriously? The universe gifted me a healing aspect? It's why I don't believe in any kind of supposed 'destiny' behind people's Aspects."

"But a great undercover assassin..." Cruz trailed off, then sighed. His expression turned forlorn. "If only my Aspect weren't so dumb, I could actually be in comparison to other fighters, like Vespyr."

"Then she'd know a lot about what you're doing," Cruz said, "And that you're going to rid the world of her and be the new Queen, with I as your... uh... your butler who is secretly/not-so-secretly an assassin murdering guests you don't like."

"Makes sense, as most yevon are animals," Cruz said, "But you said she's omnipresent in you? Can she listen through yevon? Through you?"

"You said you could make out murmurs? Is the Queen just always talking to her yevon?"
