  2. Ayia leaned in. "I'm here on behalf of Allera."
  3. It smelled weird. Plants smelled weird. But she worked her way to the counter at the back, glancing over her shoulder to make sure no one was in earshot.
  4. This is a magic system workshop thread. I guess the Creator's Corner is the best place for that? Idk. I usually just work on my magic systems alone anyways. But basically: last night (as of me writing this), I had a whacko dream featuring m a g i c. But it wasn't, like... a regular magic dream. It was kinda meta? In the sense that the magic system was from a book series that a friend of mine (I actually think it was @AonEne in this instance, which is... weird. I haven't heard from 'em in awhile) kept insisting I read. And then what happened was the classic YA fantasy move of me getting magically warped to this world and being immersed in the magic, and... y'know? Imma be honest? There was no explanation on what the magic system did or how it worked. Which seems really bad for development but HEAR ME OUT - I HAVE SOME IDEAS. Basically, the magic was a kind of "collect-them-all" system featuring spells enchanted into coins of various materials (mostly gold and silver, but presumably there were some others in there too). And guess what - that's where the worldbuilding stopped. I had a catalogue full of what kinds of coins and spells and whatnot there were, but only had a handfull of the actual things myself. The dream also ended on some friends of mine showing off a magical treasure map to a yet undiscovered spell, which I guess could be cool for [re:potential RP] So what are my ideas? If you've read/seen Hunter x Hunter then I can basically sum it up as "Greed Island," but if you haven't... then first of all get on that, but second of all this would very much play as a very pokemon/mtg/yu-gi-oh-esque kinda gig. Every coin/spell would do its own thing, so that the real power would come from using several in conjunction with each other to create powerful harmonies and whatnot. and then that's it woo
  5. So Ayia wandered into the flower shop, fingering the [units of currency] in her pocket.
  6. Hey would anyone be interested in a brand-new RP outta flippin nowhere based on the weird magic system featured in a dream I had last night?

    Yes? No?

    Okay bye.

  7. "Wonderful. In that case, I should be good to go."
  8. Ayia sighed. "I'm asking how important your secrecy is in terms of these people I'm talking to."
  9. "If they ask," Ayia said, "do I tell them what I know? Or should I just... not talk."
  10. Ayia worked her jaw a little. "Spaceport. Registration card. Two streets, turn right, four hundred whatevers... flower shop. Money. Allera needs help."
  11. "Well..." Ayia stood back up, scratching the back of her neck. "If he dies in the next five minutes, then I doubt there would've been anything we could have done in the first place."
  12. "I don't think he's conscious."
  13. Ayia brought her hand away, letting out a quiet sigh. "How far away are these friends of yours, Al?"
  14. Ayia looked concerned - understandably so. She conjured a few bandages out of the air, tapping Variance hesitantly to see if he was tangible.
  15. "Yeesh. You have a really low opinion of yourself."
  16. Ayia was quiet, thinking, then said, "So what would you want to do, then?"
  17. "You said you weren't living or dead."
  18. Ayia dropped her gaze, nodding a little. "That too."
  19. "And," Ayia added, "all... this? If you wanted a completely selfish explanation it'd be that watching you squirm around like that is really uncomfortable. But more than anything... whoever you are, pain isn't the sort of thing you're supposed to just let someone feel."
  20. Ayia shrugged. "You've trusted us enough this far. I think that's all we need to trust you back."
  21. "Presumably. If I can get in, I can get out." Ayia shrugged. "But you never know. Things get difficult when the rules of reality are different from place to place."
  22. "My people aren't interested in bounties. The difficulty would be getting away from this universe..."
  23. "The guys I work with are very well-versed in obscure magic."
