Janice stepped away, shaking her head. She didn't have anything to say.

"I never tried to kill anyone! I swear they won't get her!"

"Trace is going to be okay! I swear to you that I won't let them hurt her!"

"Lloyd!" Janice broke out of Cadenza's hug, trying to restrain him. "Lloyd, stop it!"

"I don't know." Janice frowned. "I don't think I've met you. What's your name?"

"Trace is hiding. She's scared."

"Thank you for being nice to Trace," Janice said. "Can you take care of Cadenza while I'm gone? In case... in case what I did to her gets worse?" "But then who's going to give Aryanna a hug for me?" Janice waved back. Who the heck was that?

"I'll do my best. I'll try really hard." Janice hugged back. "Lloyd?" Janice asked, trying to channel Trace's attitude. It didn't work very well; Trace had buried herself down deep. "Lloyd, please stop bothering Vespyr. You're going to get yourself hurt. I don't think Trace would want that to happen."

"They've already been hurting me, and I don't think they'll ever stop. I'll... I'll be okay."

"I promise I'll come back." Janice weaved her hand into Cadenza's. "I promise."

"Cadenza, I already told you that I have to go. I'm going, and I'm going alone. I don't want anyone else getting hurt."

"Trace is still in there," Janice whispered. "I think she's afraid."

"JAY!" She grinned, dashing towards him and giving him a massive hug.

"Can we go to them? Please?"

Janice broke away from Lloyd. "You're not..." She backed away, grabbing Cadenza's good arm and hiding partially behind her. "Where's Jay? And Aryanna?"

"I'll come back." Janice looked at Vespyr. "You said I could come back, right?"

"I'll be fine. I promise." "No... you can't come." Janice hugged him tighter. "Do... do you know where Aryanna and Jay are?"

"No... Cadenza..." Janice took a deep breath. "I have to."
